hey everyone welcome back to the channel today i'm going to be changing up my son's lighting fixture that he currently has in his room for a centerville inch five bladed fan so i just took everything out of the box it comes with everything you need to put it up so really only told him to be using today is a phillips screwdriver electric tape electric wire strippers and i'm also going to be using a drill with a phillips tip that's just going to speed up the process first thing i do is just turn the light on just to make sure everything is working correctly so as you can see the light is on so now i'm going to do is go turn the power off at the electric box all right so you just want to locate your electric box you can just shut off the room that it's on um but sometimes it's better just to turn everything off just to be safe so i'm going to shut the whole house off and that's done by the master breaker right here so before you turn this off you want to make sure you have a light ready because it's going to get real dark so i'm gonna go ahead and let's just turn this off and now all the power in the house is off um you just wanna make sure that the light is actually off and hit the switch turn it off turn it back on good to go all right so the first thing i'm going to be doing is removing the actual fixture that's up there so this one is pretty easy it just screws off the bottom just want to hold your hand on the glass slowly lowered now um so it's bolted on by these screws right here [Music] all right so now i'm going to just remove the wiring itself just pull everything out so you should have a ground wire which is going to be your bare copper wire i'm going to have a white wire a black wire and once you get your light out of the way you just want to spread out the wires and just push them out of the way all right next we're going to be installing our bracket just line it up with the holes that you got there and just finger tighten them in and then i'm going to use the drill to screw them all the way in and this is screwing into plastic all right the next step we're going to be installing the actual fan motor so what i'm going to be doing is taking these screws out real quick it's right in there and then you just want to put your screws back in those holes that you just took them out of so i just went ahead and screwed these in hand tight just so i can get them started something else you might need is a ladder um i'm six foot four so uh it's not too bad for me so what i'm going to be doing is i'm going to be connecting the black to the black and then you're going to take your little screw and just screw it on you know make sure it gets on there good and tight and then once it's on we're going to tape it also just to make sure it doesn't come loose uh you know from shaking around in there use a little bit of electric tape and tape it around and you don't have to go crazy but it's better to be safe than sorry right so in this case the green one is the ground [Applause] so the same thing you just want to screw this on make sure it's tight you know how many wires showing now the white wire goes on the white wire and then we're going to connect the blue and the red wire and that's for your lighting kit all right once you get the wires the way you want them uh you want to push them back in there in the hole or as much as you can just so they're out of the way so next we're going to be installing the motor housing this mounts right to your mount on your ceiling the housing just slides up and over and then there's some holes you gotta line it up and then just replace the screws as you can see there's like a groove on this so you want to try to leave one or two screws on opposite sides so i just barely put the screw in just so it's enough to hold it up and then you just slide it right over and make sure it lines up and then you just turn and then it sits right on once you get the housing on next you're gonna take out all the fan blade screws so there's a little notch usually right here to where you can get the screwdriver or your drill up in there all right so all the screws are taken out next we're gonna work on the fan blades so you just take your brackets and you'll see that there's three holes and there's three holes on your fan blades what you want to do is just line that up so some fans have different color blades so you can see these are slightly different color so just make sure they're all the same color whatever color you want to show and when choosing the color you're going to make sure this side is on the side that you want the fan color to be so if you want it on this side you would mount it like that or if you want on that color you mount like that so what i'm going to do is just compare this color of wood to his tv stand so this is one color which is pretty close and this one here i think this color is a little bit closer all right so next what you're going to do is just put in your screws with your screws with your washers and tighten them up and you're gonna repeat that process for all the blades that you have okay once that's on you're gonna mount it up top the next step is to mount your fan blades to your actual fan motor it's already gotten these done so what i do is i put it in the hole first the screw put a screwdriver in it um there's you want to use your little hole again for your cutout and screw it in and just check to make sure they're all tight all right so next what we're going to be doing is we're going to be taking these screws out right here this is for the housing for the light [Applause] gonna make this pretty simple for you these just plug right into these plugs here and then you just want to push it right on up and you want to make sure that your holes line up take one of your screws and put it in and then just put the other rest of the screws in next we're going to install the glass light covers so i'm going to remove these little rings and these will hold it on just grab one of them slide it right in and then replace the screw that holds them on and then just repeat the process on these next we're going to install the light bulbs [Music] and last but not least we're going to install the chains this one is for the light and these just clip on to the chain um that's up here this middle one is usually your light and the side one is your fan and that's it now it's time to test it out and see if it works and then there was light moment of truth and we have light and the other switch is for the fan see if that works [Music] yep so everything is working as it should well that's it that's how you install a ceiling fan i hope you guys found this video helpful if you liked the video go ahead and give it a thumbs up if you want
