[Music] hi everybody we're going to do a very quick tutorial on how to put an nvme ssd into an m.2 nvme ssd enclosure without the use of any tools so we're going to start off by opening up our enclosure we got instructions who needs them that's why we got this video next up we have the most impenetrable packaging i have ever come across i promised you no tools and we have ripped it there we go good stuff [Music] we have our usb a to c and our usbc to see it's like thermal pad and then of course the star of this show we have the enclosure itself looking uh i'm pretty slick there right bud so we're going to start off by pushing this from the lock position to the unlock there we go that will pop next up we're going to take the drive itself and we are going to put it in like so ta-da so next up we're going to take this guy right here and we are going to tuck the groove we all know groove is in the heart in and then tuck that down and then flip this guy over then you just [Music] put that thing in the bottom there and then here we go then rotate that to tighten it down there we go nice and done now before you put the case back together you're going to want to put your thermal pad on i'm not going to be putting it on in this video because i'm actually only putting this drive in this enclosure so that i can clone the boot drive on my laptop and then swap this in there as it's larger and then i will have the last one for the enclosure but what you would do is you take this thermal pad put that you know usually right around here you want to make sure you're covering as they call it the main control ic now it's time to put it back in when you put it in the correct way it will lock into place [Music] so just to show you again see if i put this in backwards it'll slide in but you know it won't it won't lock into place so you'll see there you've got this little arrow on this enclosure and there we go a nice satisfying click and your drive is ready to go and if you have a different type of enclosure this is going to be the second type this one i'm going to be putting just a regular m.2 sata solid state drive in as well so you can see that both work so first of all you've got this locking mechanism here right if you slide it in it's closed and if you slide it off it just pops off which allows the enclosure here to slide out so this is where the magic happens where we actually put the drive into the enclosure and you see you just want to line it up with the pins now you're going to use the rubber right here and looks like they give you a few because i'm assuming that these uh probably don't come out so nice so once again we're going to make sure that the groove goes in here and on this one there you go you just push it down and it kind of stays in place there we go and then very simply we're going to slide this one back in and so i can line up on this guy a little bit of a notch poking out and you can see where that lines up here and so you just slide it right in now i would say that you're done but this solid state drive unlike the last one is actually going to live in this enclosure so i peel off one side for the thermal pad and then get that on there because this thing's going to have to survive when we slide it in so try and tuck that in a little bit okay we got that thermal pad on and let's try to make sure again i don't want it to get picked up by the enclosure on the way in [Music] and there we go all right now we're going to put the little end cap back on and you see the little feet going one direction so we're just going to make sure that those tuck into the holes on the back and then there we go tuck it in nice and close and there we go now we have our m.2 sata in the enclosure as well one other thing i just want to mention is that if you are going to be buying one of these make sure you know if your drive is going to be m.2 sata or m.2 nvme and if you don't know then spend the extra few couple bucks and get one that is compatible with both this one that i have here is compatible with both m.2 and nvme but the one that you saw before this was only compatible with nvme so i figured it was important to show what it looks like in a few different styles of enclosures but this one i would say take your little feet here and put them somewhere safe where you'll know what they're for in case you ever want to change this out or of course chuck them or if you want to tape it here but this is also acting as your heat sink don't forget so you're going to want to make sure that you keep this nice and clean this one got sticker goo on it right out the box this is brand new so i don't love that shout out to our patrons who for just one dollar a month get their name in the credits and you can too if you join the patreon we have trina conrad ron resnick garth beagle mack 84 ethan palamaro and our newest patron dave's vintage apple tech
