okay we are going to install a gfti outlet um first and foremost this is demonstration purposes only uh by all means Noone way is this going to get hooked up so I'm okay with there not being a mud ring and anything like that just going to Showcase how to install one of these Outlets GFCI stands for ground Vault circuit interruptor that's what it does what it is first things first I'm going to create myself a little ground pigtail so I can ground my device to my box the first thing I'm going to do strip my wire so maybe a little bit more then we're going to shove this guy in there like so cool we need a flathead screwdriver go ahead and and tighten our screw always do some sort of tug test we good always like to do my boxes in an orderly fashion and if you're doing an install always do your grounds first your Hots your neutral second and your Hots last always like my grounds in the corner of the Box how I do it bring that down like that that down Bend these off to the side we don't need them currently I like to get these guys here all at the same length and then strip them pretty much all the same length my ground pigtail I'll stri the same length and then to make it easy for myself I'll bend it into like an L it's easier to work with that way what I'm going to do get all my grounds together like so pretty much all the same same length same length all around get a wire it going always make sure we pinch pinch our wire so we don't cause them to wind up on each other we don't want that want something more like that and if you want to check you can untwist it real quick a pretty decent spiral sometimes I like to just cut the end off real quick another little go and I'll leave that there for right now just like so okay next we go over the parts there wants to know is line and load I have load on the bottom here line on the top right this is my incoming power right here my hot my neutral my incoming I want to put those into my loow or my line Sorry Sorry to my line side so incoming goes to your line side so line side is here we go C for our hot and these are not stabin connectors they are compression type slide that into the neutral slide like so I don't I try not to have any copper sticking out it's just insulation just insulation I don't stick any insulation inside but I don't really want any copper sticking out that's not really what I'm going for next we go this side probably trim these just a little bit B [Music] strip strip might go under to make it a little easier for me I chose top slot on the other one so I'm going to go top slot here as well we're almost there there we are went through the inside there again whatever's easier to maneuver yourself in it's going to go into there there we are line load have these guys nice I like to bend them down our ground here we will bend into a nice spot here like to just tuck it off to the side these guys should just bend straight down there's a mud ring we would shut it down and put it all together but that's pretty much what you're working with your GFCI is in your outgoing power is your load side your incoming power is your line side everything on the load side shall be protected by this GFCI in your circuit that's pretty much it pretty simple I'll catch you guys in that next one
