[Music] this is the hose I was talking about all as you can see it's way up high I am very vertically challenged I can barely reach it so how do you get it turned off and on I have to go use this stool over here and I have to line it up and I have to place it down I have to hold on to the hose hold on to the wall and you pull yourself up with the hose hold I have to hoist myself up with the hose and brace myself on the wall and get up there and turn it on and after turn it on all it does is leak oh look at that okay well I could probably fix the leak part of it and I could probably have Tommy or Roger build you some concrete steps but we also could actually put we could put a new Outdoor Faucet down lower that Mak sense great there a whole team for higher let's go look inside so the connection for the outside hos is right through here in the laundry room all right let's see what you got so you got hot and cold right here for the washer you see it comes up here if you follow it along you can see here's the branch that goes out to The Outdoor Faucet right here there's a shut off it looks like they drilled through the rim Joys because it's easier to go through the wood and that's why it's up so high outside so what we can do is actually drill right through the foundation down here down where you can reach it and put a new Outdoor Faucet here and cut right into that pipe right there so it needs a couple of parts and pieces I'll be right back okay thank you now now your existing Outdoor Faucet looks like this sits right against the shingles right here there's a cold water pipe that comes right to here and there's a washer inside here that if it ever froze it would then split and it' be a real problem in the winter so you have to make sure you shut it off inside each season what I want to install today is this it's actually called a frost prooof silcock now that means just the you turn the handle here but look at this there's a shank and the faucet washer is way back here so it's inside the building where it can't freeze so it means you don't have to turn it on or off at the beginning the end of the winter season that's even a better idea is that cool that's cool so they come in different 2in increments six 8 10 12 14 in deep or long and really you order it based on how thick your foundation wall is hardest part of our job is going to be drilling through this wall oh all right that should do it right about there and what I'm using is a hammer drill with an inch and a qu masonry bit that's a very good size drill well it's the right tool for this J because we're going to go through the concrete if you don't own one you can actually rent one so put on your ear protection like [Music] butter all right Kim let's try the shorter of the two okay that's a little too short let's try the other one sure that'll be perfect I want the washer to be inside the building right there perfect okay oh great so that's the one right there right correct okay now to make the connections on the inboard side there's two ways that I could do it there's a/ inch copper adapter right here so I could solder it but right like to do is to use these threads right here and put a threaded adapter on now that means that for future service say that I needed to replace this someday all I'd have to do would be to back this out and thread a new one right back in I wouldn't have to break the solder connection I'm going to put some Teflon tape on it and I'll use pliers in a wrench to make the connection watertight okay so now before I solder this I want to make sure that the ceramic disc in here and some O-rings don't get damaged from the heat so I'm going to actually remove the inner stem unit pull the handle okay okay okay loosen that gland nut I should be able to pull that stem unit right up let's see okay so there you can see right here if I applied too much heat I could damage those O-rings so now that's perfect I'll secure the faucet to the foundation with these concrete screws all right with the pipe cleaned now I can actually Mark where I'm going to cut my tea in right here and right here and I'll cut it with a small tubing cutter and I already shut the water off it's a really good idea before you cut into the pipe okay so now I'm going to apply flux to both the fitting into the tube I have enough play to lift that pipe up and get it in good now to tie onto this adapter right here I could use a short piece of copper and a standard halfin copper elbow and solder it together but they also make this type of fitting this is actually called a street or fit elbow it has fitting on this side and tube on this side so it sticks right in without a short piece of pipe good okay so now we've sealed up the penetration so no cold air is going to get in there and I tell you I didn't like the look of these old rubber hoses I'm afraid they could split and flood your whole basement so what I did is I replaced them with a stainless steel braided hoses so you're good to go there and now we can turn on the water your roses are wave wonderful okay that's all snugged up why you turn on the valve and that should go now great that cool that's cool thank [Music] you
