hi everyone this is dawn from creative appliques today i want to talk about using the bx format of our embroidery fonts in in brilliance so let's get started so you've purchased a font from creative appliques website and you've downloaded it onto your computer so here i've downloaded the zipped file of the SCOOTER font and now we're going to extract it and then we will bring it into the in brilliant software so on a mac computer to unzip a file all you have to do is double lift left click on it and it will extract it if you're on a Windows computer you simply right-click on the file and then select extract all so here I'm going to unzip the file on the Mac so I'm going to double left-click on it you can see it says expanding okay so now this blue file here this is the zip file that you need to extract or unzip this is the file that has all of the different formats in it so now I'm going to double left click to open it so now I've opened the file and you can see it says scooter font now here's all the formats that come in that come with all of our purchased designs so if you use any of these other formats say the PS format you can expand the file and you can see that you know each individual letter is here but in in brilliance you don't need to drag in every single individual letter all you have to do is navigate to the BX format and drag it in so I'm going to click on this one and I'm going to left-click and hold it and I'm going to drag it into the software and you can see the little green plus sign there and it's going to let me know that the font see a scooter 3/10 of an inch has been installed and you click OK so you simply do that for each size okay so we did the the three tenths of an inch so now we'll do 1/2 image so I left click on it hold it hold the left click on it drag it over into the software and let go of it and it says it's been installed so we're gonna do this again so this is three quarters of an inch left click on it drag it over and let go and it says it's been installed okay one more time the one inch left click on it drag it and drop it and it has been installed so there's a faster way to do this as well so you can simply left-click on the one and release and then hold down the shift key and click on the bottom one and so you can see right now I have eight of them highlighted so now I'm going to left-click on all of them and I'm going to drag them over and you can see it says eight there and I let go and draw drag and drop okay that press okay because it says font 1.5 has been installed 1.25 has been installed 1.75 has been installed and I just keep clicking okay for every size that's been installed okay so now we've got them all installed alright so now we want to create a lettering design so we go up here to the blue letter A and it's when you hover over it says create a lettering design so I'm going to just left click on that and it brings up an ABC so when I was in the software I was playing around and so it immediately went to the creative appliques jump rope font so let's go ahead and use that so now in order to change the text I need to click in the text box and highlight it or click and then hit delete delete or backspace to erase the ABC and now I'm going to write happy H and I'm typing this on my computer keyboard capital H a P py and it didn't change the letters here even though you see it in the text Fox so now I have to click on the words set and there's the words the letters okay now I want to do add another word but I don't want it to be in the same font I want to use a different font so what I'm going to do is click anywhere on the screen so you can see when it's highlighted you can see these green boxes around it you can also see that there's a score rectangle around it so you can see that it's it's actually highlighted so I want to create a new word so I'm gonna click outside of that box so the word happy is not highlighted gonna go back up to the top and click on the letter A again again it pulls up a lettering design ABC so I want to type in now the word birthday B I R th da y I'm doing this all on my computer keyboard you can see the word birthday came up right there and I'm gonna click set but I want to change the different to a different font for the word birthday so I'm gonna come down I'm gonna scroll down and I'm looking for this scooter font that we just installed so let's go with scooter 2.5 inch right here so all I need to do is click on that and it changes it to the scooter font so now I think I'm going to change that to a smaller size I'm gonna go with the two inch and now I can click up here to zoom in to the screen itself so I can see a close-up of it inside the frame so now I have the word birthday and I have the word happy but I want to take the word happy and move the letters closer together so there are two different ways you can do this over on this side here these little sliders allow you to change the way the word and the letters sit so now this one says slant and I have the word happy highlighting you can see by the green squares and the little and the blue rectangle sorry the the rectangle that's around the word the dot dashed rectangle so now I know that I have the word happy highlighted so now I want to just maybe if I wanted to slant it I can I can slant the word and I don't really like that so all you have to do over here is you can hit the reset button on the right hand side there it's a little redo or undo or reset but you can change the spacing between the letters to make a larger space or ass narrower space to tighten up the letters or you can reset it you can also go in and individually move the letters this way if you choose this also will move the letters up and down by clicking inside the green square so now I want to I'm happy with the way that looks I like the word the way the way it's positions like this so now I want to change the color on the word birthday so I have word birthday highlighted and I click on the one over here I click on color and it says one color so I can click on that and I can click on either palettes or threads so let's click on threads because I want to change it to green so I change it to green and you can change the you can choose your thread palette that you have right here so you can choose which palette you want that you have the most threads of that you like the best or that you use the most and then you can click on the actual color of the number of the thread and then you can click on OK and it changed the color of the word birthday to green so now I want to save this design so I'm going to go up to the top here and I click on file and I want to save the file as a stitch and working file that way I can come back in and I can change it at any time if I decide I want to move the letters from happy around because it doesn't look right I can do that so now I'm going to click on save as stitch and working file and it pulls up a box now this is the the folder that I'm in this is the folder that I have my embroidery designs in that I save for each day that I'm sewing so you want to navigate to where you want to save the file and it automatically saves it as my design but I want to rename it because I want it to say happy birthday because this is the file I'm using I'm creating so I type in happy birthday and you want to make sure you're saving it in the file format that your machine will read my machine reads DST but if you have a brother machine or a Viking machine you're gonna want to save it into the format that your machine will read so you can choose all the different formats down here which one your machine will read - DST and I will click on save so now if I go into that folder for today you can see it has saved the file as a DST and then a B e file is the file that's native to in brilliant that allows you to go back in and change the colors or the spacing or or even change the words so if you are doing say your monogramming a whole bunch of jackets for a cheer squad and they all have you know you have a megaphone and but each girl you need to change the name well if you saved the b e file you can go back in and you can open it back up like this and you can you you can change the name on it okay so let's open let's start a new project and now i want to bring in a an applique design okay so we're going to navigate to that today file or i have all my designs and I'm gonna bring in this cute little snail so we have this little snail here and I want to put some word just words around it okay so we'll go up to the blue a click on it and it brings in the ABC okay that's the default font that comes with in brilliance and the size so it came in as block so I want to use our just for giggles fonts so I'm gonna scroll down and I'm going to click on the one-inch and you can see it changes the letters okay to the just for giggles but I want to change the word so I'm gonna type in my first and I'm gonna click step now I think for the size of this little snail I think the one inches too small too large so I'm gonna go back up and I'm going to change the size of it and I think what I want to do is I want to take the letters and I want to have them go around here around the snails body so if you can see here this allows you to do multi-line text single line text and then this allows the text on a circle or a curve so I want to click on that and you can see my text is right here and this is the font that I used and now when you can click on this slider here and it's going to change the arching of the letters so watch the letters now as I click on this and see what happens to them so they're starting to move around a circle and you can go back to straight or you can curve it so I'm thinking that might look pretty good and I also want to so when it went around the curve a little bit it it kind of made more space between these letters so I want to adjust the spacing so down here I can use the slider to bring in the letters closer now I don't see as much of a gap here so I can go down to word spacing and I could adjust this space in between the word so now with the box still highlighted I can also click on this blue circle here and I could take the entire part and I could shift it around and now I want to move it over here so it's a little bit more around the snails shell now I'm thinking that it's a little bit too tight so I'm gonna go adjust it again all right I like that I'm pretty happy with that so I'm going I want to add another word so now again we're gonna go up to the blue a click on it and it brings in an ABC as default I'm still in the text on a circle so I can go into this part here and type in my let's do my first summer su mm er typed on the computer keyboard okay and now I hit enter and it's maintaining the settings from this orientation here so what I want to do now is I want to curve it down this way so what I'm going to do is I'm going to click on place on bottom and I'm gonna play with that it that way with the radius slider here so now you can see the letters look a bit smashed so I could go back into spacing I'm just gonna hit reset or that little circular arrow to reset it where it it it is by default so now I think I like oops not slant I think I like that spacing but to me it's just a little bit too curved so I'm gonna spread it out just a little bit and then I can move it up the other thing you can also do is move the letters up individually as we talked about earlier so now I want to I'm happy with that I'm happy with the way that looks I want to change the color so I'm going to click on the my first and I'm gonna go into color and here it says black because it's coming in as black and one color so now one of the things that you can do is if you can you can see our little snail here is kind of a hot pink and a lime green but having to scroll through all of this and try to find a similar color you know can take a bit of time so one of the things you can simply do is click on palettes and it will bring in the palette of a design that's already in there so my first is highlighted and I want that to be in the in the lime green so I'm gonna click on the lime green and I'm gonna click OK so now you can see that my first is matching color to the sale so let's change the color of summer now so I click on on summer and I click on the word color over here and I click on the one color and I want to make that the hot pink color so I click on the hot pink color and I click ok so now you can see I have the color of matching to the palette I matched the word colors to the palette of the little snail design so now I want to save this entire design all together so to do that we go up to file and we're gonna click save as stitch and working file ok and it goes back into the today folder because that's where I have it set and as you can see again it brought in as my design so I want to change that so I remember what the name of this is because if every time it comes in aught of sets itself to my design I will keep overriding the previous design I did if I don't change the name so I'm gonna type in my first summer oops not nice my first summer and I'm gonna make sure that it's still in the format that my machine reads so my first summer it's in the folder that I want it to be in and I click Save and so now when I go into that folder in the today folder you can see I have the snail that I originally brought in the happy birthday that we created the EE of the happy birthday then my first summer in the DST that my machine will read that I can then send to my machine and then my first summer in the B II so then that way if I decide I want to go in and say whoops it wasn't my first it was my second I can go in and type that in and click enter and I saved right there and changed immediately that I can just save it again I hope this information was
