How-To Identify Where Your Drainfield Is Located

welcome to this the next part in the in our series on how to build a shop in snohomish county now today since we've been talking about how the we're going to put the formatting together and what we've come up with is we're just going to do topic by topic and not be part one part two because it doesn't make sense you may not have you may have a different situation in your build then i'll then be covered so you can skip around in the in the video series so today we're going to be talking about where to spend your time to know where you can't build your shop and what i mean by that is so uh if you're on an in located in unincorporated snohomish county and or in other areas like east county uh or where you're on a septic system it's highly recommended that you start by going to the health department's website and pulling your ass built now uh to get to that website it's d a d a v e dot s n o h d dot org and for short i just always call it dave because that's what rings a bell i go to dave to get as builds and so here i have my ass built because the one thing you don't want to do is build any sort of permanent structures over to the top of your as built because during like inspections you can get what's called a improper encroachment on it and that's a topic for another video but start by pulling your ass built and then so you can identify where your drain field design your drain field is located in your tanks because sometimes tanks are buried or there's not telltale signs in your yard that shows where the as built is so on here you can see that these three lines also highlighted in the drone picture in the drone video as you see now can show you and that's where my drain field is located so by identifying your drain field you're knowing where you can't build so and you because you just just don't do it and your second one is you also want to identify where your reserve area is so in the trees behind me if i you can see right here and that corner right there is my reserve area that's where these trees are in case my drain field fails then my the new drain field could be put there so that's a so by pulling your ass built you can identify two places where you can't put your can't put your shop so where we were looking at it originally was going to be on the east side of the the house can no longer be there because that's where all my drain field my tanks all that kind of stuff is so the it the so the shop has to go in another location which is the northwest corner for me so another thing to look for is you want to know where you're well if you're on a well and you also with your water lines you want to know where those feeds come in in my case my wells out in the front of my property so it's well outside the construction zone or and have any adverse impact by having a shop on it but i would definitely take a look in the uh and see where your well is most homers homeowners have a good idea where their well is just because if it needs routine maintenance but if you're looking at a piece of property to purchase to see if it has a shop you want to go to the department of ecology to pull up uh the well logs and to see one where it is um and how deep and where where it possibly could come into the house so for this portion so we spent i spent you know 45 minutes just online pulling my ass built at dave.snowhd.org and then going to the department of ecology identifying where my well was to know that okay the shop has to go in the northwest corner so thanks for tuning in to this video and knowing where not to build a shop or tuning into this video to identify where you can't build it so you know where you need to focus your efforts to build it so thanks again for tuning in to this short one and look for us on the next video coming up soon you
