in this video i'm going to show you how to hook up a powered subwoofer to a receiver or integrated amplifier with no sub out now this is my garage stereo setup right here these two polk speakers the yamaha receiver which has no sub out and an onkyo 6x cd changer now i want a little more bass in the garage so i've got this polk psw10 powered subwoofer that i'm gonna hook up to the system there's three key ingredients to make this recipe work this is the yamaha rs202 receiver with no sub out but it does have speakers a and b your receiver has to have speakers a and b or this will not work now here's the back of the powered sub it does have the line in for the left and right but like i said no sub out on receiver so the back your sub must have a speaker level input all right so i have the two speakers and the subwoofer all wired up that's what it looks like from the back i'll bring the camera in up close and show you up close detail okay so you have speakers a and speakers b no speakers a left and right i have those as the two bookshelf speakers and speaker b left and right those two cables are going over to the subwoofer so here's the back of the subwoofer under the speaker level input the right side positive negative now that's going over to the right side positive negative of speaker b on the receiver now you have left negative and positive so that's going over to the speaker side b left negative and positive on the receiver another quick note make sure you make all of your connections with everything unplugged now when you turn on your receiver you'll see that cd is active and above it it says spa that means that speakers a are active but not b if you want to activate speakers b go ahead and push the b button on your receiver and now you've activated speakers a and speakers b alright so i'm going to play music with speakers a only and then i'm going to push the speakers b button and you'll be able to see the subwoofer start moving [Music] so the most important tip is make sure you do all your speaker connections with everything unplugged and double check all your positives and negatives like i said before this is my garage stereo and i just wanted a little more base out there in the garage when i'm working on the cars and such i didn't want to replace the receiver just to get a sub output so this is an easy way to connect a a relatively low cost sub to a low cost receiver hope this video was helpful and informational to you i'll put links in the description below on all this equipment and thanks for watching
