welcome back to farm craft I'm John and today we're gonna be hooking up the boiler we started right here and then I've moved the boiler down to here and now I need to connect the water lines and the electric line so first step dig a ditch and second step thank God for back hose yeah couplings rings yep [Music] [Applause] all right so we put a little splint around that because that is this right there is a conduit but I may want to replace the wire at some point cuz we spliced there obviously so that's gonna allow me to pull through if I ever need to and it's all laying in the ditch down to the boiler so we're ready to fill this back up here we are at the other end this goes around the corner and then back up underneath the boiler and then we'll make the connections there to plumbing fittings and electrical connections and we're back in business so here we are ditch came right through here came around the corner and there it is coming up now what was my read the new piece I ordered is white but this is the hot line coming out of the pump going to the house this is the cold line coming back to the boiler and you know you say cold it loses whatever it loses it goes up to the house say it 180 degrees it might come back at 130 hundred and forty so it's not actually cold but it's colder than the hot and then the electric is coming in right here and we'll hook that up in a little while so it is burning right now there's the exhaust chimney because this is a gasifier it burns everything so completely you can't see any smoke that thing is at full burn it's probably producing 300,000 BTU an hour and this is the noise you're hearing Atticus so there's two burn chambers in here there's the big burn chamber where you put all the wood the exhaust goes down into a secondary burn chamber and that burns everything else that burns all the exhaust gasses so that's why it doesn't put out any smoke so here's the control right there basically you just turn it on it's got a current overload and that's the thermostat so it's a hundred and seventy degrees in there and before I turn it on I'll show you how this thing functions so this is the blower right here it basically just sucks in air here blows it through here into this tube that goes into the firebox this is a damper now when I bought this boiler it had a different system here the damper flipped down like that and it kept getting stuck and it didn't work worth a darn it was run by a solenoid which just wasn't strong enough would get stuck and then it would burn up the solenoid so I I redid it I got this linear actuator and I closed up the hole that the other one used and made this little basically this is just a flap it's like a door no no it doesn't swing like a door what would you call that I don't know what to call it it's a piece of metal that goes like that it blocks the hole to cut off the airflow and then when you turn it on the blower comes on and this will open and allow the air to blow through the only other thing with this is the pumps and the plumbing I've got two pumps now cuz when I moved it it increased the resistance in my system and I wasn't getting enough flow so I just added a second pump on top so those come out of the bottom of the boiler go through you can't see it it's behind insulation and then it goes back through that line and then that goes to the house and then the return line is this blue line here which dumps into the top of the boiler some 116 psi of pressure so I'm gonna go turn the boiler on the blower is gonna kick on and the linear actuator is going to activate so this door will go up will open up the air passage so air can blow into the firebox can't really get you in there to see it but you can see the glow from the fire coming through the tube there [Music]
