How To Hang Outdoor LED Christmas Lights Like a Pro!

what's up youtubers johnnydiy here today i'm going to be showing you guys how to hang outdoor christmas lights quick and easy like a pro if you guys are new to my channel do me a favor click the subscribe and the notification bell so you can get all my new videos all right let's get to it so why led lights ditch those old ones and get these because they're safer and they're going to save you a lot of money on electricity now to put the lights up if you look right here there's these little clips and these are meant to clip on your shingles on your roof or i've even seen people who just staple the actual wire up to the wood and fascia but what we're gonna use today that's gonna save us a lot of time in the long run are these little hooks these are three-quarter inch cup hooks i'll go ahead and put links down in the description to these and the other tools i'm going to be using today you can install them on your wood fascia and you can either use a drill bit or what i like to use is one of these this is a fine tip nail punch and we'll just put the tip where we want it then we're going to take a hammer give it a few taps straight up then we can take our hook and we can just put it right in the hole and screw it in by hand if it's too tight to do it by hand just get the claw side of your hammer and you're gonna put the hook in the claw and then you can give the claw a twist even it out then all we have to do is get our wire of our lights and we can feed it into the hook now how many of these hooks do you want to use i use one hook about every 18 inches the more hooks the less the wires are going to droop so just keep that in mind but about one every one one and a half two feet is good [Music] so now pro tip when you go to take the lights down if your lights came with one of these reels save this or if it didn't just get a stick and what you're gonna do is when we start taking them down make sure you start with the female end that way next year the male end will be accessible on the reel and you'll be able to start from there and see you just reel it up as you're taking it down at the same time makes it really fast so after that initial hanging of the hooks it should only take you around 10 to 20 minutes to put up or take down all of your lights so hopefully you found this video helpful if you did give it a thumbs up for me if you have any questions or comments leave them down below if you're new to the channel please subscribe and click the notification bell so you can get all my new videos alright guys have a merry christmas take care
