i recently got a haircut which is crazy to say  because i spent the last like two years growing   out my hair my hair used to be up to my shoulders  i grew it down to pretty much my hips i'm not sad   about the fact that i just got a haircut though  because my hair now grows really really fast it   grows like a weed and today i am going to  tell you guys how i get my hair to do that this is my most requested video and i'm so  excited to finally deliver it to you guys   obviously anyone's hair can grow but how do you  grow it fast and healthy so that it stays long and   damage free as it grows i have some hair growth  secrets that i'm going to spill in this video   there are things that i am going to be  telling you guys for the very first time so let's begin so step one is that  my hair needs to be clean and this   goes against pretty much every video that i've  watched on hair growth and let me break it down to   you why this is so important so when i let my hair  get too oily consistently it does not grow as fast   this is because when your hair gets too oily that  can actually clog your hair follicle because when   your hair is oily not only do you have a ton  of oil on your scalp and roots but you also   have products can attach to the oil all of that  can clog the hair follicle and when your hair   follicle is clogged that can make your hair fall  out prematurely at the same time i don't want my   scalp to be too clean because what happens when  it's too clean is that it can be prone to dandruff   and dandruff has been shown to hinder or just  like stop the hair growth process altogether   for me a healthy scalp means fast hair growth  and how do i get a healthy scalp i get it by   keeping my scalp clean but i don't want it to be  too clean because then it can make me get dandruff   on a dry scalp at the same time i don't want it to  be too oily because then my hair falls out for me   this means washing my hair once every two to three  days for you it could be once a week it could even   be every day so step two of this whole hair growth  journey i just put some water into the air is how   i wash my hair in order to promote hair growth  so the first thing that i do is i only shampoo   the roots this is necessary for me um in order  to make my hair grow and i'm gonna explain that   to you guys right now so the roots need to  be clean in order for my hair to grow um in   order for my hair to grow healthy in order to  create like a healthy environment that promotes   optimal hair growth by only shampooing the roots  this also lets the ends of my hair not get too dry   and this is important for hair growth because when  the ends of my hair are dry then they're much more   prone to breakage and damage and when they're more  prone to breakage and damage that in turn is going   to shorten the length of my long hair and my hair  still is going to grow but it's not going to look   long because the ends are going to be so broken  and damaged i also make sure not to be too   rough with my scalp when i'm shampooing don't be  rough on my delicates and this is because when i   like vigorously shampoo my scalp i will get clumps  of hair that fall out in the shower so to promote   hair growth i also use a sulfate free shampoo why  using a sulfate-free shampoo helps me with hair   growth is because those shampoos are a lot less  drying on my scalp this is just gonna depend on   your hair type if you have really really really  oily hair you're probably gonna have to use a   shampoo with sulfates well i don't know everyone's  hair is different but you that may help you for my   hair type i have to avoid sulfates as much as  possible there are actually studies that have   shown that a dry scalp eczema dermatitis those  things actually hinder hair growth so that's why i   just try to avoid sulfates because they're really  good at cleaning and sometimes they clean my scalp   just too much and that makes it really dry there  are also a few ingredients that i like to use in   my shampoos that really help to promote hair  growth there are a few limitations which i'm   going to get into in a second but let me just go  over the ingredients the first natural ingredient   is rosemary oil there was like a study done that  found that in people with androgenetic alopecia   it helped to stimulate hair growth as much as  minoxidil stimulates hair growth so obviously   because i'm using it in a shampoo there are  going to be limitations the first limitation   that is pretty obvious is that the concentration  of rosemary oil in shampoo is obviously not even   close to the concentration of rosemary oil in  the studies that were done on those people with   androgenetic alopecia another limitation here  is that the shampoo is getting rinsed out i'm   not leaving the rosemary oil on my scalp obviously  there are gonna there's probably gonna be a little   bit that's left over on my scalp but for the most  part it's all gonna get rinsed off so how much do   these ingredients help with my hair growth i i  don't know and i cannot like i can't give you a   set answer but i feel like it doesn't hurt to  use these ingredients another ingredient that i   like to have in my shampoos is mint which also has  been scientifically proven to promote hair growth   again to what extent does it promote hair growth  in a shampoo when you're getting the shampoo when   you're rinsing off the shampoo and everything  like that but personally some of my favorite   shampoos that i've used have ingredients that help  with hair growth these are shampoos like the ogx   extra strength tea tree mint shampoo also moroccan  oil hydrating shampoo that has argan oil which is   really good for your scalp now for conditioners  i only condition the ends of my hair and this is   essential for hair growth because if i were to  condition the roots this is just going to make   my hair get oily a lot faster which is gonna make  me have to shampoo my hair more than i should be   shampooing which in turn is going to make my scalp  a lot drier which in turn is going to make my hair   not grow as fast the conditioner i use always  has to have silicones in it and this is because   silicones protect the ends of my hair from heat  damage which i also use heat on my hair i'm going   to get into that in a minute but it protects my  hair from mechanical damage which is just when i'm   brushing it which keeps it healthy and intact as  it grows um so if you guys can't tell my approach   to hair growth is not just like ensuring that your  hair is actually growing from your roots but a   huge part of hair growth for me is protecting the  ends of my hair so that as my hair continues to   grow it actually looks long and healthy as opposed  to looking healthy at the top and then like frayed   and brittle at the ends another thing that i do  with conditioner to ensure that my hair is growing   healthy is i leave my conditioner on for three to  four minutes um this just helps to make sure that   my hair is absorbing all of the benefits of the  conditioner that are really gonna help to protect   my hair part three of my hair growth process and  just everything that i do to grow up my hair is   how i style my hair for hair growth so i let my  hair air dry seventy percent and then i blow dry   and i always use a heat protectant before i blow  dry the thing with heat is that excessive heat   obviously that's just gonna damage the ends of  my hair but blow drying my hair does help to   keep my hair detangled and smooth compared to when  i air dry so if i were to just let my hair air dry   all the way yes it wouldn't be exposed to heat but  it would also be more prone to knots and tangles   which would cause damage when i then go in to  brush my hair and the blow drying as i said it   helps to keep my hair detangled and smooth which  reduces mechanical damage once it dries so in the   long run i've just found that blow drying my  hair just for a little bit of time it's like   literally no more than 10 minutes that causes less  damage to my hair than when i have to brush it out   and detangle it there are just a few other things  that i do to protect the ends of my hair that keep   it nice and healthy and thick as it grows one of  the things that i do is i always make sure to use   a hair mask once a week my favorite hair mask is  the moroccan oil deep moisture mask whenever i do   a hair mask i always leave it on my hair for about  30 minutes i know on the container it usually   says 10 but i like to do 30 minutes because that  just helps my hair to get all of the benefits of   the hair mask the hair mask just really helps to  keep my hair detangled and smooth and everything   that conditioner does but kind of like times 10  something else that i like to do to make sure   that my hair stays healthy and to just protect  it is i always put my hair up in a microfiber   towel after i get out of the shower the microfiber  towel it helps to speed up my hair drying process   but it doesn't damage my hair like the really  fluffy towels do those things will seriously   cause so many split ends in my hair and just so  much breakage so i stay far away these tiles too   rough man another thing that i do to keep my  hair healthy as it grows is i use olaplex so i   love olaplex zero three six seven and eight eight  is another hair mask that i really like to use   so olaplex has silicones and their products also  claim to rebuild broken bonds aka they're gonna   repair damaged hair another thing that i like to  do to protect my hair is do protective hairstyles   so these are things like french braids this helps  me to go longer in between washes my hair does   not get oily as fast when it's in the two french  braids so that allows me to go longer in between   washes which is good for hair growth as long as  i'm not letting my hair get too oily i also really   like to do hairstyles using claw clips i also  avoid the tight jojo siwa ariana grande ponytails   because those just pull my hair they make my  hair fall out and they push my hairline back   which is counterintuitive to hair growth another  thing that i do is i try to make sure to brush my   hair from the bottom up as opposed to brushing  like this i try to start at the bottom here   and then make my way up that just helps to reduce  the amount of breakage that you are causing when   you're brushing your hair i don't yank through as  many knots when i brush my hair like this i don't   know the science behind it but somehow when i  brush my hair like this i um yank through it a lot   more than when i brush it like this that's another  hack hack the planet now this is like kind of   i don't know controversial some people say don't  trim your hair when you're trying to grow it out i   like to make sure that i'm getting regular trims  as i'm growing out my hair because my hair would   continue to grow and it would be really really  long but it wouldn't have that long healthy look   it would look long with like damage at the ends  now the last thing that i want to talk about are   diys i've done so many diy videos on my channel  and i feel like it's only fair that i do   a little section of this video on diys here are  the main diys that i've personally noticed have   helped with hair growth for myself so just want  to remind you guys that i am only speaking for   myself here in my own experience rice water  yes i have noticed significant hair growth   with rice water rosemary water and rosemary  oil castor oil although i don't even know if   that can be categorized as diy but yes i have  noticed hair growth with castor oil and then   aloe vera but here's the t with these diy  treatments did they help my hair to grow   yes um well at least yes it seems like they  did but now that i have a toddler and i'm   really hoping that you guys have not been able  to hear him out in the living room throwing stuff   just like tearing it apart with my husband i just  cannot justify doing the extensive time consuming   diys anymore the hair growth that the diys  contributed to it's not worth it to continue doing   them when i have a family that i would rather  spend my time with so here are a few more tips   when i'm doing any sort of hair treatment whether  it be a diy or olaplex i always do it on super   super clean hair because that way the treatment  is going to more easily penetrate my hair my   roots and scalp and it's just going to be able to  work better and my hair is going to be able to get   more benefits from the treatment also when you're  doing hair treatments whether it be a hair mask   or like rice water or olaplex whatever it is you  can use a plastic shower cap to help incubate the   treatment this is something i learned from my  hairdresser and this speeds up the treatment   process making it more effective i really hope  you guys enjoyed this video if you have any   questions please leave them in the comments below  also let us know your hair growth tips and tricks   in the comments below thank you so much for  watching and i'll talk to you guys next time
