How to get rid of junk email for good | Outlook | Gmail | etc.

if your inbox is constantly overwhelmed with a non-stop flurry of junk email then you are 2 minutes from solving your problem forever welcome back to the channel in today's video I'm going to teach you the simple trick that I use to eliminate nearly all the junk mail in my inbox and the best part is it works with every single email provider at no extra cost if you're like me you are constantly struggling to keep your inbox at bay not necessarily with spam but it seems that every rewards program company newsletter or activity that my kids are enrolled in comes with an endless supply of updates today I'm going to show you how to remove those automatically while still having the option to review them later that way you don't miss any of those 50 cent coupons on popcorn at your local grocery store so let's jump on the computer and I'll show you how it's done just as a side tip this is much easier to setup using a desktop or a laptop so the first thing you need to do is you need to create a new folder to put all this junk mail in let's call that random stuff then you go to your settings because you're gonna be setting up a new rule add the new rule name it whatever you want let's call that random stuff as well now for the secret sauce because of American and Canadian anti-spam laws all emails are required to have an option to opt-out at the bottom of each email and that link almost always goes by the same name you are going to create a rule that searches the body of any email for the word unsubscribe in it you are then going to tell your program to move any matches to your new folder hit the Save button and you're done let me walk you through doing that in Gmail now Gmail is pretty much the same thing however instead of folders it works with labels so let's create a new label called random stuff next you're gonna go find your settings and in Gmail they do call these filters instead of rules so let's look for filters up at the top and create a new filter again you're gonna look for emails that contain the word unsubscribe in it the next thing we need to do is actually apply that filter as emails arrive so check the box that says apply the label and then choose the label that we just created next from the three-dot menu button next to our newly-created label we need to select hide from in the message list so that Gmail no longer displays messages with this label in our regular inbox so check into the folder every once in a while for any false positives but otherwise you are good to go I hope you found today's video helpful let me know what you think in the comment section below if you haven't already subscribed to my channel please do so for more tips and advice and hit the like button on this video to show your support thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video [Music]
