How to flatten a Stump

[Applause] [Applause] do they guys today I will show you how to flatten out a log perfectly flat as you can see this log has been cut with a chainsaw on an angle and it's not always easy to cut it that perfectly square especially if you want to use it for a little maybe you want to use it for a table or you know a log to sit on or even a stump to to split some wood on it but as you can see you know it's not cut perfectly square so we're gonna square that through perfectly true top and bottom so we'll show you how to do that today all right guys I'm ready to flatten out this log now so that's my router planer jig and if you want to know how to build this jig I've already made a video on it so I will put a link a clickable link at the end of this video so this is just my my rail right here and it's just clamped there to the proper height okay so there's my Makita router that's a large router 3 and a quarter horsepower router and all it is this is a flush bit one one and a half inch flush bit so we'll take a slice off and then and then after we're gonna gradually lower these guide rails here until the the log is perfectly flat okay I just took my first pass and probably took off took off about 3/8 of an inch at the at the highest point right here so I will just lower my rails and take another pass [Music] [Music] [Music] all right there you go guys to pass and I got this thing perfectly flat so let's flip the log over and do the other side now [Applause] [Music] well there you have it guys the top and bottom face are perfectly perpendicular this would make a great stump to split wood on or even who would make a great stool to sit on outside now let's take the bark off of it this is burl it's really heavy okay guys this is a turbo planer this can be purchased at LaValley tools calm and today I'm going to be using this here to remove the bark okay guys I can keep going here with a hand plane and it's easy to see how this can become something beautiful that can be in your house wouldn't that be pretty cool if I'd made like a late and I could turn it perfectly round maybe I could do that one day let me know anyways guys thanks for watching you
