How to fix discord Connecting voice call issues

hey guys today we're going to be looking at how to fix a common discord issue with voice calls just not making the connection uh this could happen for a couple different reasons do you have a vpn turned on does your network have a firewall with geoblocking application turned on do you have a software on your computer that does geo blocking these are just some of the things that you need to be looking for on your network and software on your computer make sure you have the correct ports open on your computer and you're not blocking the voice ports on discord usually by default um your firewall will allow everything so that's probably not the first place to check here are some screenshots of some of the errors you might see the messaging back and forth might work fine but uh when you make the actual connection for a voice call or going into a voice channel within discord just might be stuck at that connecting uh status so these are just usually it's from what i've seen is the geo blocking you're blocking a certain country that discord is reaching out to it could be your antivirus protection software that's something that you need to check as well now i have a dell sonicwall firewall on my network and i have the geoblocking security service enabled and on and i've noticed that since i have everything outside the united states blocked and unknown countries blocked discord was actually trying to go to an ip address that wasn't actually in the geo database so you can see on my logs here uh the country name is unknown and then at the very bottom you can see was trying to reach to another server since that was getting blocked and it was going to a hong kong server uh which i would assume there's other servers in the united states but it looks like it was just hopping between other servers that may have maybe had a lower latency since now everyone's sitting at home from covid19 uh i'm sure they're kind of their servers are overloaded for sure um but this is just something to look out for this was my issue i'm not saying this is your your problem that you might be having but it's something just to kind of do your due diligence and go through everything that you have set up on your environment and see if it's a geo blocking maybe you have some kind of antivirus software on your computer that has a geo blocking capabilities within it you know it could be a couple things like that so just do due diligence check and see if you have anything else on your machine that could be blocking the outgoing connection for discord to make that voice connection you
