How to FIX a Stuck Door Latch and Door Knob DIY

hey it's DIY Brad here today we're going to be looking at a door handle its current issue is it's not wanting to turn it's locking up um so we're going to take it apart and see what's going on on the inside all you're going to need is a Philips head screwdriver for this we have a screw on top and one more screw on the bottom so should be a pretty simple fix let's take it apart okay two screws have been taken out and we've removed the door handle and now we're going to just kind of slowly take it apart see what's going on in the inside and if we remove this part we can see here that the the key entry the other side is coming through this hole here and that controls the latch and you can control latch from the other side too but in this case it wasn't turning at all so as as we take the latch out we can see here it's essentially broken on the inside that should move freely in and out and it's not so that's essentially our problem while you have the handles removed go ahead and take this opportunity to spray some silicone on any of the moving Parts uh you can spray it on the inside here and also Through the Keyhole and then same thing on the other side and you can spray it in there all right here's the new latch that's been installed you can see it moves freely by itself here's the old latch won't budge so that should take care of our issue and now we just need to reassemble the handle okay so here's a look at the inside have the handle on the other side that's it's been inserted it's sticking through to adjoin to the other side of the handle there's the latch I'm just holding it in place so you can see and then you can see top and bottom there's the two screw holes there's where we're going to reassemble the other side of the handle all right the other handle has been attached not screwed in yet here we have the latch and it's a good idea to go ahead and to just turn the handle and make sure everything you know connected correctly on the inside and working properly all right our screws have been fully installed and our handle is able to turn freely now back to normal on the screws just take your time it's kind of at a funny angle so you don't want to strip those um pretty simple fix overall hopefully this was helpful and you can do it yourself I'll see you later
