[Music] and today i'm going to set a joist the old way of a bit of herringbone it's quite rare that we do air in bone now everyone does solid bridging um but these are traditional joists we've got 9b2s up there i mean 20 years ago tgi's come in we've often used eco joists but this builder still does it the old proper way traditional and uh nice bit ninety-two's an airing bone so i'm gonna get on with that do you remember your 21st birthday yeah i remember your faulty if i think my 21st was better i was in a nightclub in london sw1 i should think it's a block of flats now or something like that there's all 400 centers old school some of them eco george we put them at 600 centers i can't believe obviously structure engineers worked it out but that don't seem right to me in the older days doing this the plumber would come a notch all the joists ready wouldn't they be the copper now with all the plastics about yeah just bend yeah way better the other thing that used to happen on air sights the plumber would get the drawing ran the wrong way because it's he ended building and then all the notches and then we've got to move a wall when there's a notch there and the pipe's coming out in the wrong place first one 50 mil off the wall so you've got any services or anything you've got a bit of room now [Music] down the middle just to hold them but these are not looking a little bit twisty but uh makes a change to work for a nice dry bit of timber not soaking wet in the rain but i felt a few scattered balls up right there [Applause] so i'm trying to ping the line straight down the middle of all the joists the top line so i'm gonna pick another line down now to set the herringbone out so the joists are two two five roughly just under two two four so i'm gonna knock a little bit off so i'm gonna ping the line uh about 215 i think i'm going to do it 2 15. these two lines that we ping that's 215 that's a little bit less than the depth of the joist so now i've sort of created a square which is this or rectangle which is the same as it is down there that's the same sort of rectangle then all we simply do is lay our bone in on now and we go from that point there to that point now and just draw it underneath now when i first started we didn't have the power tools to um get the chopstick out and just cut them we will cut them by end oh not in that one let's turn that round so i want to cut a few by end let's see it there [Music] they've had one bit of boning so so [Music] so yeah it's not doing yeah i know yeah i'll send you a pitch later you got your two bone in if if it does shrink it just yeah that's gonna that's gonna shrink down with it sort of thing and it's just self-tightening basically as you say like any suspension bridges and everything it's all yeah darth bridge has got all the wires yeah the tension so so huh oh god foreign [Applause] that will work [Music] next thing the site agent says no phones mate and then when you've got yours he rings it does favor because one of them like locked the door with the sight agent he's big tight yeah we decided to come back and summon nick some of his tools [Music] that's the important bit so i'm just going to go there and the block worker go against that it's cut a little bit the block will go against that and that's to lock it all in oh just put the metal straps in now this is for the staircase yeah this is for the staircase here it's got 950 opening since i've scaled it off it's about 900 so give it a bit more [Music] now guns are a right talking point on the forums but that makita one a couple of people went yeah it's great and it's rubbish the second fixed one's right one of the biggest problems with guns everyone has is um gasses pesto is the best guess the few people that's got oil in it yeah that's right so you get cheap gasses that's your problem of misfiring and whatnot well i talked to the guys at paslo and they said to me when they take a gun apart they know everything for service they can tell what gas was using good idea we should have the shoes on but well yeah you will do one day yeah i like that idea that's a tip it's not a good day's work anyway doesn't it yeah so i've got a few more drawers to pop in now um we've got the metal straps to go in let them in that solid logging done to them i cut the straps there and that's me done really so when you're coming back to this site to reckon uh i'll be back in a couple of weeks get up to plate you put the trusses on um oh trusses on this one choices on this one yes have you another trust isn't doing all the roof okay you can do the second fix here or not i'm not sure if i can fit it in so too busy yeah i'll be back on the other job by the way i have to let somebody else do that once he's got the roof on he's quite happy you've got kelly do all the flooring stub work yeah it'd just be the second fixing and kitchen so thankfully you know i'll come and do it just depends how we go hello mate nice to see you again and you watch thank you so much cheers you
