How to easily Repair your 4runners's rusted Frame yourself

[Music] all right this is a full runner and you know how they're common for their frames being rusted out if you look right up in here you can see this one's rusted right beside the exhaust there's the exhaust and what we're going to do is we're going to go up here and we're going to cut out and put a piece of flat metal in there for the customer once i get the exhaust out of the way i'll give you a better view all right to remove the nuts and bolts the fronts are 15's and the backs are 13. after we get the exhaust out of the way that's what it looks like that's a great view of it right there and what we're going to do is we're going to take a piece of cardboard and we're going to make a template and transfer it to a piece of steel i'll be right there i'll get it you don't gotta fill paperwork out then what we're gonna do is we're gonna just slowly keep shaping it until we get it like we want well i get phone rci it's yeah it ain't nobody phone call you hang up on them yes all right you're the man you just keep going back and forth till you get it like you want it yeah all right the vdot truck leave it right there yep what okay that's one of my employees he's deaf he's a real good employee though super guy i've been doing it for a long time what i'm doing is i'm leaving this a little bit long because when i cut it it's going to be longer i'll draw a mark on the metal here and cut on this side of the line it should fill it in just fine i think we're pretty good just like that that's what we got right there that's the plate that's what's going on just like that get that on there weld it solid and we are good to go get that laid out and cut like that and how to do it the pin all right guys i got a question for you how many of you guys have four runners or thrusted out frames leave me a comment let me know [Applause] one thing about doing it this way you can run through some discs this is what we got so far we'll check it up there to the frame and then come back and clean up a little bit all right let's see we got for the first cut not bad we need to trim it out here more all right now what we're going to do is dress up the metal here so when we go to will it'll make a nice weld [Music] right here bob a couple little tv spots someone put some dyna glass over it down the glass is uh like fiberglass mixed with bondo in the little teeny spot today if you wipe over it it won't go anywhere it'll prevent it from rusting even more if you put a nice pretty coat of dyna glass on it you don't even have to really you could do a light da on it then we'll just undercoat that that way it'll look nice and smooth all right all right having trouble getting some of the settings correct on the welder but it's no worries we're going to grind it down wipe down the glass and undercoat it and look like a million bucks [Music] whenever we do a project like this we use everglass to finish it off with it's made by evercoat it's short strands fiberglass mixed into the body filler it is great for projects like this and it's 10 times more durable this is what it looks like after you mix it tonight truck all right that's what it looks like every wife [Music] after he's done smoothing out the dyna glass we're going to put some undercoating on it and we use a product it's called hud 12. it is a rubberized aerosol undercoating it is really durable and really strong it will hold up under severe conditions all right guys that's what it looks like after it's been undercoated you can't even tell the rust is ever there all right guys thanks for tuning in hope you enjoyed the video catch you later
