I'm going to show you the easiest way to drill through porcelain tile you want to use these special tile bits right here these carbide bits and these are by far the best ones that you can use you definitely do not want to use those masonry bits or the um diamond shaped bits those are good for ceramic tile Natural Stone this is also good for ceramic and natural stone as well but porcelain is going to be the toughest tile by far to drill through and this is what I use but I have a special way of doing it that I'm going to show you I'm sure others have done it like this before I've never seen it stick with me and find out how I'm gonna go about drilling through this very tough durable porcelain tile that's 3 8 of an inch thick [Music] okay so in my case I would like to install this grab bar onto the wall here just below the shower body I already know just about where Center Line is and uh but I'm just going to level it off I'm drilling three holes on each side for strength but I'm not going to mark all six holes just yet I'm just going to make one hole on each side and I think the best way to go about it after that is to make course Corrections just in case it moved on me a bit so we'll see so make one hole right there and I'm gonna mark one right over here okay good now this is where my idea comes into play and just take a piece of duct tape this is like the Gorilla Tape okay and then you're gonna turn the sides up just gonna have to bend it and what you're trying to do here is you're trying to create like a little cavity in here that's going to um it's just going to hold some water inside of there all right and if you want you can stick another piece of tape or two underneath just to make sure it's sealed you don't want any of that water running out otherwise the bit is going to go dry and the whole purpose here is to pour water inside of this cavity just like that and just fill it until it drops out a little it's fine I've got my drill bit ready you don't want to push it in right away you want to kind of just get a feeler on the tile and hold it there until it grips okay then you could start applying a little bit of pressure and increase the speed [Music] that was pretty quick the catch is a lot easier with water than you think oh thank you [Music] okay I mean that literally took probably 25 at any time at 25 30 seconds maybe and normally you'll be sitting there for uh on and off spraying it's possibly even burning through bits this bit is just as good as when we started there's nothing wrong with this bit whatsoever this should be able to cut probably eight or ten more holes before you even see it um the the bit starting to degrade a little bit so now that hole is done I'll do a couple more just to show you okay [Music] she's through pull it off the preparation takes longer than anything but it's easy inexpensive and you get some nice clean cuts you're not smoking through the uh the tile burning things up uh you're not risking putting applying too much pressure onto the tile where you have the potential to um to actually crack it that would be a disaster so um yeah this is by far the best way to do it if you enjoyed this video please definitely give the video a thumbs up I appreciate it very much and you guys have a wonderful day
