hello everyone i'm nina and this is a very simple step-by-step tutorial on how to draw realistic noses from the front and from the side and at the end of this tutorial i will as a little bonus tell you how to customize the shape of the nose and i will also explain uh what makes some of them look snap and round for example and others humped and pointy so like this video and subscribe to my channel to support me and my art and let's start i will be using my new staedtler set of pencils but of course i'm not going to use all of them i'll take these pencils 2h 2b and 7b i will also need an eraser mine is a kneadable eraser also by staedtler and a flat synthetic brush for blending if you don't have a brush you can use a blending stone which you can make yourself after watching my tutorial look at your top right corner and it will be as good as from the store and if you want to know more about the materials i use check my materials video i'll put links in the description i'll start with the front view and the set view will be on the right you can break any object into shapes and the nose is a very good example i'm drawing a circle using a 2h pencil and two smaller circles at both sides they don't have to look perfect don't push down too hard on the pencil as you will actually erase the sketch later these circles stand for the tip of the nose and for nostrils and the shapes play a huge role and soon you'll find out why the nostrils overlap the biggest circle and they're located a tiny bit higher the next step is to draw these smiley eyes and the bridge of the nose [Music] now i'm going to give it a better shape by putting all of it together like this [Music] you don't have to follow these guidelines precisely because they're just guidelines so this is how my drawing looks without shading make sure the guidelines are not super dark and erase extra darkness to get a better result later [Music] i am starting to shade using the same 2h pencil the darkest areas of the nose are the bottom of the baker circle and along the bridge and this is exactly where i started to shade i'm also shading around the sides of the nose and around the big circle after the first layer i'm taking a brush to blend the pencil [Music] i'm a huge fan of blending i believe this is what makes my drawings look realistic and i recommend you guys to do the same [Music] so as you can see i left the tip of the nose and the middle of the rich lighter because these are highlighted areas and trust me it's a lot easier to leave it instead of trying to erase the pencils later now i'm taking a 2b pencil and starting to give the nose more contrast i blend the pencil often because i'm going for that smoothness that you have to reach if you do realism like me [Music] do by applying the pencil in certain areas you can make it more unique so as i said in the beginning you don't have to stick to your guidelines i'm shading the nostrils using a really dark and soft pencil for example 7b i'd rather take a black pencil but i decided to use only graphite in this tutorial [Music] so [Music] by using a brush as a blending tool you can easily apply the leftovers of graphite like i'm doing it right now to the drawing to create an even layer of shadows so you don't have to spend your time trying to do it with a pencil and blend it all the same after [Music] every nose is different so the way i shade it might not be the way you want it to be so go ahead and adjust it if you'd like i'm making sure there are no hard edges because the skin has to look smooth it already looks good now and i'm continuing adding more shadows and depth i'm switching between all three pencils so [Music] the last thing i'm doing here is pulling out some highlights kneadable eraser is perfect for this but an ordinary one will also do [Music] [Music] so let's move on 90 degrees to the side view i'm starting with breaking the nose into shapes just like on the previous join i'm drawing a vertical line and two circles and they bet you already know what they're standing for but i'll tell you anyways the biggest stance for the tip and the smaller one for the nostril there is a little space between them actually the further this distance the longer the nose so be careful this vertical line represents the points where the nose attaches the face if you can say so this line turns into the forehead on the top and mouth on the bottom let's draw the nostril between these circles like this that's basically it i think it was really simple and fast so let's shade now just like on the drawing on the left areas around nostrils and along the bridge are the darkest so this is where i start shading using the 2h pencil after the first layer i'm taking a brush to blend everything out i'm also leaving the highlighted areas [Music] the next pencil is 2b 2b will give that depth and 3d filling by creating darker value i'm pressing harder when i want the pencil to look darker therefore i skip using other ranges of pencils learn more about shading value and pressure control in my all you need to know about shading video after 2b i'm taking a 7b pencil for the bigger contrast and the last thing is to pull out the highlights as you can see the technique of shading these two drawings are the same but i'll point out the most important things while you're watching how i'm finishing the shading part number one you can break objects into shapes and it can help you a lot to understand the anatomy of the nose in our case and to adjust it the way you want number two use a blending tool to achieve the realism because honestly it's impossible to create pencil strokes that can imitate the skin i think the best tool for this is a brush leave the highlighted areas because it's a real challenge to erase the pencil after and not ruin the drawing this rule applies to everything you draw by the [Music] way [Music] [Music] [Music] so this is it i think it looks awesome and now when you know how to draw realistic nose i'll tell you how to customize it so let's talk a little about different nose shapes and angles first of all a nose seen from 45 degrees is basically a mix of the front and side view so go on and challenge yourself to make a nose from a 45 degrees angle using the same basic shapes and techniques as i just taught you when it comes to the shape no two noses are the same try observing people in your vicinity i'm going to draw a few examples to illustrate my words i'll keep it simple as usual we know that the first thing to do is to draw a little circle for the ball of the nose and nostrils you can make the circle bigger or smaller you can draw an oval instead of a circle you can make the nostrils higher or wider all these variations will make the nose look unique characteristic and suitable for the character in reference you're drawing by the way did you know that your nose grows for the rest of your life maybe that's why older people have bigger noses but before you judge take a look in the mirror experiment and play with the lines to see how it can change the notes you're drawing draw a hundred noses in different shapes and from different angles and soon you will be smelling like success and this is the end of my tutorial thank you for watching and don't forget to like this video and subscribe to my channel to support me and my art see you soon guys bye [Music] you
