hi guys i'm nina and in this simple step-by-step tutorial i'll be drawing a realistic eye from the side view let's start i'll be using graphite pencils in this video uh by the way it's totally okay if you have only one pencil you'll still do great and since i have this set i'll take a 2h a 2b and a black pencil and of course i will need an eraser mine is shaped as a pencil awesome thing you know it allows you to erase a really thin lines and this with pink thing is an eraser as well just a kneadable one i will also use a flat synthetic brush for blending it can be replaced by a q-tip a soft tissue or a blending stump and i have a tutorial on how to create a homemade blending stump check it out i want to underline that it's totally fine if you use only one pencil and a normal eraser you will still be able to draw a realistic eye [Music] so when drawing an eye from the side view or from any other view start with drawing a circle if you stress when drawing a circle i have a tutorial about that too don't stress just watch it the link will pop up now or find it in the description among other helpful links so this ball stands for an eyeball define the center and draw two lines going through the center so now we have four equal parts and four angles of 90 degrees now we need to decide how wide the eye is going to be opened i want it to be very neutral so i'm drawing two almost straight lines at an angle of 20 25 degrees starting from the center these lines are standing for the eyelids the eyelids are wrapped around the eyeball and it's very noticeable from the side view so i'm prolonging the upper line and letting it down the next step is to draw the crease above the lid line the bottom lid is usually more shallow than the top lid so the next step is to draw a lash line that is also part of the lid i'm drawing some kind of a hook that's coming from behind and letting it to the outer corner and let's draw a short stroke to define the actual bottom lid let's move to the iris now i would say that iris has an almond shape if you look from this angle of course but the outer rim which is on the right looks almost straight i don't know how to explain this fact this is how it looks from the side by the way notice how the upper lid covers the iris it's quite important what comes to the pupil it's also not round it looks like a bean to me so i'm drawing some kind of a bean in the middle of our iris iris the size of the pupil changes depending on the light source it's big in the dark and small in the light i'm drawing the size i prefer and the last step is to draw a reflection by looking at the reflection we can say where the light source is reflections can be drawn in a lot of different shapes circles rectangles hearts diamonds baits you decide so in my drawing the light source is coming from the left and i'm drawing a thin and curved rectangle well actually everything here is kind of squeezed [Music] [Music] so this is how my sketch looks right now i'm pretty much satisfied so let's make it look realistic i must say that this eye looks pretty weird without lashes but we're not gonna draw them right now we will draw them in the very very end [Music] first i'm taking the darkest pencil i have and filling in the pupil and then the iris i'm using a 2h pencil here and blending it afterwards using a brush i'm also making it darker on top and on the outer rim it's because the lashes that we haven't drawn yet block the light be careful not to make it too dark though [Music] [Music] [Music] iris is a very special thing to draw at least i think so it regulates the amount of light entering the eye and it's filled with tiny details that can be pretty challenging and hard to draw but not in my tutorial of course i'm taking a black pencil and adding some lines coming out of the pupil and they can be both straight and curved as i've already said the texture of the iris might be challenging to draw i can even call this texture torn being torn so think of creating this torn texture with holes layers different colors and so on remember to like this video and comment and even share with your friends if you like it of course and follow the tutorial [Music] after that i'm taking an eraser and pulling out the pencil to create lighter strokes by the way i'm using a 2b and the black pencil here and blending them from time to time be careful not to draw anything on the reflection we're just keeping it white [Music] so now i'm just taking my brush because it has some graphite leftovers and shading the entire white area but making it darker on top and on and in the outer corner i'm also using a 2h pencil here and i blend it too [Music] using a 2h pencil i'm filling in the upper lid and blending it afterwards with a brush i'm also adding darker shadows along the crease and along the lash line using a 2b pencil notice that the shadows don't have any hard edges and i'm trying to make an even layer of graphite that area on them on the left that shows us how the upper lid wraps around the eyeball needs to be shaded as well i'm just making it a little darker [Music] i'm using an edible eraser to pull out some highlights in the middle of the upper lid to show the light to make it look realistic because realism equals right lighting let's move to the lower crease now first i'm i'm filling the lash line and then the actual crease with 2h then as usual i blend everything with the brush and it's a tiny bit darker right below the lash line because of the eyelashes again [Music] and now guys i want to show you my youtube channel as you see i really have a lot of helpful videos so if you want to see more tutorials go to playlist and i actually have like its own playlist it's called tutorials so you can learn really a lot such as how to draw realistic facial features and actually the entire face too so really check it out i think you will like it [Music] oh [Music] uh [Music] [Music] and since we started talking about the lashes i think it's time to draw them now first of all i have a very good tutorial on how to draw lashes and i recommend you to watch it find the link in your top right corner or in the description right now i will not talk a lot about them so our eyelashes grow at different angles and it's good to start with showing those angles uh by the way even though we don't see the second part of the eye we still need to take it into account because the lashes grow so we're there too and of course we need to show it don't draw the lashes like like straight sticks first they go a little downwards and then upwards creating a beautiful pointy curve group your lashes into small bundles and make them overlapping each other [Music] [Music] and the last important thing about eyelashes is that they don't grow in a straight row some are higher and some are lower my favorite thing is to compare them to the shark's teeth but i will not do it right now just know that they don't grow in a straight row [Music] [Music] so i'm basically done now it might be helpful to take a look at your drawing in some time to add some details here and there or to make some minor changes so this is the end of my tutorial thank you so much for watching till the end and i'm just reminding you that i also have a tutorial on how to draw a realistic eye from the front view so check it out if you haven't seen it yet and of course i have the entire series of tutorials on how to draw a realistic face and hit the like button if you think this tutorial was cool leave a comment to just to connect with me and see you in the next tutorial guys [Music] bye you
