[Music] what's up babes welcome or welcome back to another episode of modern diyer my name is julia garza and i'd like to entertain you at least once a week with creative diys roommate cohorts and lifestyle videos today i'm going to be recreating some of the pottery barn new collections for way less let's jump into the first diy [Music] so here are the bunnies i'm going to be using to recreate the tubes they're so cute and they were only 350 each i found this in the garden section and there was a few different poses so i got free to recreate it all right let's start as always i try to link everything below but sometimes i do forget stuff and i'm so sorry in advance but anyway as you can see here i am creating this mixture of different things i grab some baking soda some sand acrylic paint and chalk paint and i am just painting all of them all over i'm using the big brush for the big surfaces and the small brush to get into all those little crannies [Music] so after they all dried i wanted to show you up close you could stop here the texture is very good however i want to go as close as i can to the dupes to the ones from pottery barn and they look more like stone not as much texture it does have some kind of sand look but not as much texture so i wanted to show you sparkling on one side and i did join compound in the other to see which one would be best for this project you may be asking yourself julia what is the difference between the two of them and the answer is i don't know but we're gonna find out which one's better for the project and to be honest the answers are probably in the back of those containers but am i gonna read them nope now that with this is dry i wanted to show you up close and i've decided that the sparkling which is the one that's pink and turns white is the best option here it looks more like stone so here's a sparkling and there is the joint compound you can still see a lot of texture where over here is more of a smooth texture with a little bit of indents so let's go ahead and cover these up with some sparkling i need some gloves for that [Music] i let them sit for about 15 minutes and once it was a little bit more dry i went in and i just pat it down and rubbed down you can see right here and it's really creating that stone look [Music] i let that dry fully and then i went in with this rust-oleum texture spray i don't know if you've ever tried a spray paint that's texture but i find that a lot of the times these spray paints are very squirty it's squirty a word i'm sure you understand what i mean alright so we're gonna let those dry and let's move on to our second diy i was fully intending to recreate these three vases that i put here but at the end i only did two let me explain why this one the first one that you see right there is actually hand painted and although it's not my style i just feel like putting a bunch of joint compound or sparkling it's just so sad and i really want to think about it more to get to that one and full-on credit for the person that painted this really because that must have taken hours all right so we're starting off with the biggest one this one i got from walmart last year in the summer and it only cost about ten dollars full disclosure right away it broke so i wasn't too happy about that but i realized that the shape was really nice and i knew i could use it for a future project and that project is now so the ones from pottery barn are actually really small i realized look at this picture right here it just looks so tiny to me so i'm thinking it's the set for 97 or the bigger ones for 141 each i could not believe i knew that we could recreate this no issue at least something similar for way less all right so i started by applying sparkle all over the place and i am trying to recreate those lines with my fingers and after that i'm just letting that dry and we're moving on to the second one now this is a bittersweet moment for me because i do really like this one and if you missed that video i will definitely be linking it here for you but um it was the perfect shape for this i could not pass it on the second best option would have been the other one but that one's the hand painted one or at least i think so so we're going in i'm just not even thinking about it and i'm going in with the spackle again recreating trying to recreate the lines of course this one has a lot of texture i actually really love texture and uh if you've been watching my videos you would probably know that i love sparkle and i love joint compound i just think it's a very flexible material that you can use and really mold anyway moving on we're gonna let those dry and now we are moving on to the last diy [Music] my inspiration came from another one of the new collections of pottery barn and it was this two eggs i am only gonna recreate one but you get the idea and i found this at the dollarama for two dollars it's a pretty good sized egg so i know i have some clay there in the background some dry clay but i actually did end up using it because it's just too thick so i would have had to roll a really thin layer in order for me to cover that not impossible i just didn't feel like doing it so i am going in with my trusty spackle once again but first i'm gonna put some rocks on the inside just so that we can add some weight to it and so that is not so flimsy so easy peasy let's put sparkle on this egg [Music] okay so that's as far as i got for tonight we're gonna let these dry overnight and i will see you in the morning again good morning so i figured why don't i take you outside with me in this gorgeous day and go for a walk i'm getting my coffee we're getting our walk-on in the baby and yeah it's beautiful outside sun come to me it's been a long winter [Music] [Music] hi can i get a large greasy frop with only one pump of sugar or the seeds and then no whipped cream [Music] got my green tea frappe i decided to go for green tea fry because it's feeling more like summer and that's my drink in the summer [Music] yep summer summer here let's get back home and finish these diys let me know in the comments section what you like from starbucks it's definitely not a drink that i can get every day because well your girls on a budget can be drinking seven dollar coffees every day right guys so i have this stroller the strollers for running i don't run but i wanted to see how i would look if i was really a jogger i quickly realized after editing this video four things number one i look like an idiot two my brows not very supportive three terrible angle four that angle made me realize i should have grabbed the small all right and we're back from our walk baby's sleeping so this is my time to shine as you can see i have my bunnies right here last night there i am and my pj's like dabbing away because i could not contain myself i needed to finish it was like it was impossible for me to relax so i finished them up they looked amazing and i waited for today so i could take some good pictures of them so you can see them properly in the natural light so check them out i'm about to pop them right here and then we'll continue finishing the other two diys i know i really didn't get into detail of how i did the colors here but i really didn't do much the spray really did its job here all i did was dab a little bit of white and then i dabbed the littlest amount of gray just like the dupes and that's it okay but let's get down to business let's see how i did so pottery barn we're selling for 100 each basically and yes they are bigger but that's ridiculous that's a lot and mine from dollarama only cost 350 each and if you want to add the sparkling and the paint and then let's add an extra five dollars but i already had all of this stuff so i think i did pretty good you let me know what you thought all right moving on to our second diy and that's the vases i'm going in with this chalk paint in a beautiful blue i've been using this thing that i just showed you just to like mix colors and i want to see how many mixtures and colors i get until i can't use it anymore okay so all i am doing is just painting all over the place [Music] and next i am going to sprinkle a little bit of the sand [Music] [Music] guys i've decided that i can use this to create some of that texture on the vases it's perfect it's the same one that we use for the bunnies let's see how we do i'm gonna do it in the back see if i like it if i do then i'll spray some more around [Music] every time i say i'm gonna spray a little bit i spray so much does this happen to you are you my kind [Music] guys i hate them i hate it um okay i'm gonna go in with the blue again and i'm just gonna dab and see if i can camouflage a little bit of the sand splashes everywhere [Music] all right guys so that definitely helped but i was still not happy so i went in with the same color blue and i added some black and i did a heavy brush all over them and here's how my vases turned out [Music] okay but let's get down to business again how do we do so for two of the big ones it's 141 each so equaling up to almost 300 and i got mine for 20 dollars that is not so bad i mean really i got mine for free because i already had everything but i'm thinking if we were to add everything up it would be around twenty dollars let me know in the comment section below what you thought of this project and let's jump on to the next one last but not least our third diy is just an egg pottery barn is selling them for originally seventy dollars on sale for 59.50 plus tax and i got mine for two dollars okay so as you saw before we already had covered our egg with spackle and now i'm just gonna do a light layer so that we can create those lines that are going from the top to the bottom [Music] i am just using this random thing that i found i'm pretty sure they're for like you know those pegboards yeah for that to like hang stuff [Music] after it dried i went in with the same spray texture that i had from before and now i'm just gonna go in and dab with some white all over [Music] and lastly i'm just gonna mix a little bit of my black into my white and dab a little bit of that into the egg very randomly just like the do [Music] and here's how my dupe turned out [Music] left [Music] [Music] don't think i forgot and lastly let's see how i did pottery barn originally seventy dollars mine five dollars thank you so much for watching i hope you enjoyed this video if you did please give me a big thumbs up and if you are not subscribed
