everybody is gonna do a little quick video of what you can expect at a gun show and let me tell you there are some treasures to be had we went to our local once a year gun show about 40 miles from my house and picked up a few things I brought a truckload of guns well actually a backseat full about a couple aks bought a Henry 4570 a couple Glocks just in case I went up there with my father and I told him you know I'm kind of looking for a pre Remington freedom arms corporation buyout guy gun and 4570 I'm also looking for a 300 savage savage 99 maybe some SKS's numbers-matching Russian Chinese whatever and I was not disappointed I got these two a K max this one's partner ice-t-- have no idea where this is from a little beat-up not too bad this one's painted I think this might be a Polish winning actually not sure the guy won at $20 a piece for him I laughed at him I said come on man they're roached out surplus mags threw a $20 bill on the table I said for both of them he's at yeah go ahead then I came across this stuff at another table this is seven six two by 39 m67 ammo the price was right they wanted they wanted five dollars a box for these and I told come on man that's corrosive I'll give you two bucks a box he had ten boxes so I bought them all it's just just in case mm oh I guess there's something to stash away mo don't go bad but anyway this thing I came across this at a table it was in beautiful shape the bluing is still on the receiver the jeweled bolt had a scope on here says El Paso Texas I'm guessing that as a weaver had rings on it's got the Weaver rings the bluing is probably 95% intact the stock is absolutely gorgeous the color case-hardened is still there I wish it was a little bit better but that's about the first thing to go on these things and uh so hey I go to the guy in and say what's the story on this 99 he said well you know it's a 1971 I can tell by the serial number starts with a 7 and a 1 and all savages are like that I said oh really yep and you can tell because the counter is steel and not brass I said it's not he said nope check it out he said I have a 1920s one and that one's brass this one's aluminum I said ok I look at my father next to me he's just about jumping out of his seat saying buy that gun buy that gun buy that gun so uh hand this gun over to my dad said dad why don't you check this thing out what do you think he pretty tight-lipped you know he's he's a good dude like that I I I could sense that uh he was excite about it and uh so well you know what I might have something to trade he goes well what are you god and I told them about four or five rifles I brought with me and a few few pistols he said well I might be interested in that Henry I said okay so I go out to the truck bring the Henry in before I went to the gun show I cleaned it all up made it look just like brand-new put it back in the box packed it all in put the receiver the cloth receiver cover over the receiver and that's another hint if you're going to a gun show and you still have the boxes at home for the rifles that you should not be ever throwing away cuz you never know put them back in the box like the day you bought it so I bring this rifle in I look at him he was asking 600 for this and uh give him the Henry I said out no doubt you can get more than 600 for that I think MSRP is like 700 or something or price on the streets about 650 to 700 for those Henry's and uh goes okay I said well I'm gonna go look down in the basement they at another level down at that gun show of the place and I'm walking away and my dad looks at me and he says you know he's talking to his buddy right now on how bad they're ripping you off I just laughed I said yeah I said so what do you really think about that gun and he said I Jason he said I do know one thing that is not a 1971 savage 99 I had a 56 when I was growing up and I regret the day I sold it there's a long story to that he's told me at a million times and he said and I'll guarantee that tonight not a 1971 he said that scopes not even a 1971 and I said yeah that's what I pretty well figured I've been looking at these 300 savages for a few years so I get back upstairs and the guys like yeah I guess we could probably do a trade so I'm like okay so I get at home it was kind of dirty but I could tell the bluing was just gorgeous you don't have the tell-tale you know where everybody walked through the woods with them in their palm and we're all the bluing off with these things probably because the Scopes on there that might have saved that receiver but it doesn't have the back side I'm guessing because it's got the scope on can't fit and the scope El Paso Texas so that's a American Weaver scope which is probably worth about 150 to 200 dollars right there just the scope on the vintage market so about the year of this thing I did a two minute search online the date code for these is right here I don't know if this camera is gonna pick that little circle up but in that circle says five F so then I went on a couple forums and ruber forums and websites and if it was a letter A in there it would be 1949 a letter B is 1950 C is 51 and so forth so this would put this rifle at a 1954 and the aluminum counter in there well I don't know I sprayed a little wd-40 and scrubbed it a little bit I've never seen a luminal yellow and I never knew they put aluminum in the rotary mags of these heats hey you know I'm joking that's a brass counter it's the jewel it's made in Chicopee Falls they moved on it to Pope hopefully Falls or whatever in 1960 they stopped putting the safety on the lever in 1960 when they moved to these rifles to Westfield Massachusetts this was in Shikoku Falls so this puts this rifle dated as 1954 now if this was a 1971 it would still be a really nice-looking savage 99 for the shape that it's in but being that it's a 1954 this thing is absolutely gorgeous I went on gun broker after I left just to check things out and I would say that I did pretty good early to mid 1950s savage 99 in this condition is going from nine to twelve hundred dollars and the prices on these things haven't skyrocketed yet yet everybody says in the gun communities that these things are gonna skyrocket in value any day I've wanted a 300 Savage for many years everybody around here uses them I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and this is the quintessential deer gun at everybody's camp everybody's got a 300 Savage all the old old guys used them the 50s 60s 70s and they all say the same thing when you hear the 300 bark a deers going down we have one hanging up at my dear camp that one was in 1950 pretty close to this shape his is a little rougher but I fell in love with that gun and I had to have one of my own I am so proud of this what a good find now I got to get another 45 70 government but oh well no problem they're still making those so I just wanted to show this off to you guys if you guys got any questions on dating these put it in the comments I can steer you to a couple really good websites for you a lot of the forums but like I said it in 1949 right here there would be an a couple numbers maybe and then a 50 B they went all the way I think they skepta go and cue because they would be too close to each other but other than that tell me what you think guys you think I did good I think I did pretty good like share subscribe let me know you're listening see you later Mike
