How to Create a Pitch for your Video Game

Last week we presented our new pitch to you, where we pitched "My Child: Lebensborn", - and we thought 'Maybe we should describe what a video game pitch is'. So, initially, a video game pitch is a very very short presentation of your game. It's so that people can get an idea of what your game is about, and become intrigued. So, it should include only key information. And also, you should make sure that you- - take into account what audience you're pitching to. You want to include different information if you're pitching to a player, to a fellow developer, - or to a publisher or investor. What we like to include in our video game pitches is, of course, the name of the game, - the genre, - the premise of the game. What the game is really all about. A bit of what the gameplay is, - number of players, - platform - and release date. We believe this information is enought to give the one listening to you- - an idea of what your game is going to be like. There are different kinds of pitches: You have the elevator pitch, which is traditionally around two minutes long. you have the 30 second pitch which is shorter, - and then you have the one sentence pitch. The one sentence pitch is maybe the most difficult one to do, but if you make a great one sentence pitch- - you've really managed to do something wonderful. Then you can use that one sentence pitch as an opening for your other kinds of pitches. It takes a lot of time and effort to create a good pitch. It can feel like everything is important about your game, but you need to be critical of your own work, - and place yourself in the position of the one listening. What are they interested in? What reference points do they have? But the most important part about creating a good pitch is that you work at it, and you practice.
