How to convert/remux mkv files to mp4 using OBS

if you use obs to record video clips and you choose the MKV file format you may find that common editing programs such as Premiere Pro can't edit mkv files so we need to get these into some other file format for example mp4 and if we look at the mp4 recording option they actually suggest that if you use MKV you can use a feature in OBS called file remix recordings so let's go ahead and do that we're gonna close out of settings and then we're going to go to file remix recordings it's now gonna ask me which files I'd like to remix so I'm going to open up some mkv files they have and drag them into the window once I've done that it's going to tell me the original file name and the destination file name if I'm happy with that I'm gonna go ahead and click remix it's gonna go through each of the files and remix them it will complete we can click OK and then we can go and look back in the folder that the files originally were in I'm gonna go ahead and switch to the details view and then I'm going to sort by type so that I can see the mp4 files and yep there they are all at the bottom we can click on one and take a look at it and there we go the mp4 file is working perfectly we'll now be able to use this anywhere that we need an mp4 file any place that an MKV won't work for us
