How To Connect Mac To TV With Sound From TV

hey everyone welcome back this is Dan from D H TV and in today's video I'm gonna be showing you how to connect your macbook pro or mac to your HDTV and also how to get the sound from your TV let's get started all right so before we get started you are going to need a few items to make this work first off you're going to need a standard HDMI cable now you can use any one you already have you don't have one there's a link in the description down below you can pick one up really cheap secondly you're going to need a mini display two HDMI adapter here and this is gonna plug in with the HDMI cable and to your Mac if you don't have one of these again a link in the description will provide you with a very cheap option for one of these finally you're going to need your Mac so if you're using a MacBook Pro or a Mac any Mac should work with this as long as it has the mini DisplayPort for this tutorial here so once you have all those items we can move forward so the first thing that we're gonna do is plug in the mini DisplayPort here to the Lightning port on the Mac I'm using a 15-inch MacBook Pro so I'll go ahead and put that in secondly we want to plug in our HDMI cable so we'll plug that into the mini DisplayPort and then also plug the other end to your TV once everything is connected you should see what you see on your computer screen on your TV screen now if you don't first off make sure you're on the right input so where you connected your HDMI cable make sure that's the input your TV is set to and secondly if you want to change up the way the screen is showing you can go to System Preferences go to displays click on arrangement and in this section here you can see it's set to mirror displays this will show everything from your computer on your TV if you deselect this it'll give you the TV screen as a second monitor so you can sort of drag things over so that's totally up to you but the main problem people are having is getting sound from the TV rather than having it coming through the Mac so what you want to do is go to the launch pad here you then want to go to this section here where it says other you then want to select audio MIDI setup and from here you'll see we have a bunch of different audio settings that we can play around with and what you want to do is find the HDMI output from your TV so traditionally it's the only one unless you have multiple things connected but here you can see if I select HDMI it's a source samsung and that's the TV I'm using so we'll click on that and highlight it will then select down here where we've got these little settings and what you want to do is select use this device for sound output so once we select that any sound that comes through that would traditionally come through our computer is now going to come through the TV so that is how you connect your Mac to your TV and get sound through the TV it's a very simple process doesn't cost a lot of money and as I said all the parts you're going to need are in the description down below if you have any questions feel free to ask in the comment box don't forget to hit the like button if you found it helpful and useful and also subscribe for more videos like this one thanks for watching I will see you in the next one
