in this video I'm going to show you how you can connect the alpha a w us 0:36 h to Kali Linux in VirtualBox if you have VirtualBox already setup and ready to go I will go into detail on how you can go about setting up your wireless Wi-Fi device in a way to where it will connect with VirtualBox so you can use it in either one of your virtual machines that you have setup in this video we will be connecting the Wi-Fi adapter to Kali Linux now in this video I'm not going to show you how to install the driver for the alpha Wi-Fi device I do have another video that you can check out though if you are having problems setting up your Wi-Fi device to work with your operating system you will want to make sure that the alpha Wi-Fi adapter is fully functional with the host operating system before you actually continue and connect it to Kali Linux in VirtualBox when you have your alpha Wi-Fi adapter fully functional and working where it's picking up wireless networks on your host computer then we can continue and go ahead with the VirtualBox here and since the alpha Wi-Fi adapter is a USB device we will have to adjust the settings for the Kali Linux virtual machine here so you just click settings then we want to get down to the USB tab and then we want to enable USB controller this is USB 2.0 for this device and then we want to add a filter and then you just select the device here that you want to enable for the USB controller here we want to enable the realtek for the alpha Wi-Fi adapter it will be labeled as the realtek RTL 8 187 so when we have that filter added you just click the ok button and now that we have that configured we can go ahead and start Kali Linux let's login now in the bottom-right corner you should notice that the USB icon at the bottom there should have a blinking green dot which you can see there and that indicates that it is working now we can open up a terminal session to see if it's detecting that wireless adapter so we can type in if config and we can see here that is identifying the wireless LAN zero now if you plan on doing a little bit of penetration testing or if you want to monitor the network by capturing or sniffing packets then we can type in a command here to set our wireless adapter and monitor mode we can just type Ehrmann - ng space start wlan0 now as you can see monitor mode is enabled for the wireless LAN zero and if we type in if configured in now as you can see using Ehrmann this has created an interface for us here and then we can use this interface to capture and sniff packets so we are going to use the arrow dump feature to see if it's working and as you can see here it is locating the beacons from the various networks or the wireless networks so if you are not seeing this it's obviously not working for you and something went wrong so either your USB Wi-Fi adapter is now working correctly or something went wrong in the configuration
