today's installment will be doing a configuration of a Anderson Howser pressure transmitter for level applications there are several different methods of actually going in and doing the configuration but today's method we're going to use a part handheld 475 configurator we're connected to the device via heart on the to our twisted shielded cable just across positive and negative so now I'm going try to make this connection to the heart signal you can see we're polling for heart and you can see our heart beat there we're going to go to online and I always go a little bit too far so we're going to back up one step now the very first category this is our online submenu tells you what measuring modes you want to have it in do you want to do a quick set up operating menu and it gives you all your process values secondary values tertiary values and your 4th value from this main screen the first thing we need to do is we need to tell this transmitter what application we're using it in so we're going to step into measuring mode and under the measuring mode category we're going to tell it a my pressure transmitter in my level up transmitter so for this application today we're going to do a level transmitter level now once we select a level it's going to open up a new category and here we're going to get some options again level standard level easy pressure level easy height level easy height is probably what most people familiar with but the newer and easier way is by going level easy height by inputting a density value we don't have to do a lot of calculations of what pressure is going to be equal to so many percentages of level so we're going to do a level easy height and once we get those two we can back back out to the main online screen now the next step most people would think was go into quick setup there's not a lot of things that you can actually do a position zero adjustment position input value and a dampening value now this is more of making a field adjustment some are back out of this one one more time and I'm gonna go down to operating menu settings basic setup there's a lot of subcategories you've got to work through here okay so once you get into this basic setup menu you can work your way right down this list and once you finish this list for a basic level application you will be complete so you have to remember that operating menu settings basic setup okay under pressure units what pressure units do we want to use um typically we use inches h2o but you've got tons of options here to fit your needs we're going to go inches of h2 up now what we've noticed here is right by right after the one and then between the P is we've got a little asterisk that has popped up what that means is your information is still on your 475 it has not went to the transmitter yet so what we have to do is send that information now me personally I like to send my information after every change and the reason is is some categories will not open up if you have not made a previous selection and sent that data so as I work my way through the mini structure I typically go ahead and send all the information to make sure all of the blocks open up now under engineering units of level percentage for our app send the information because the asterisk output units we're going to use percentage again send the information hike units I'm going to use inches for my app send it calibration mode wet or dry you know this is where people typically make a mistake um wet means I'm on a bench and I'm going to apply a certain amount of pressure to it or I'm going to completely empty the tank and completely fill the tank and tell the transmitter to accept the pressure that it sees as my LRV and accept the pressure as my you are v now what we're going to do is we're going to do a drop dry means I'm going to input numerical values that accept we're telling the transmitter accept what I'm putting in as the real value okay so we're going to do a dry send that information density units here in the US were typically used pounds per cubic feet pounds per cubic inch send it adjust it adjust our density value now this it automatically comes out with a default of water water weighs sixty two point four to eight pounds per cubic foot you know if your fluid is heavier and lighter or lighter this is where you would make that adjustment we can just escape out of that since we did not make a change empty calibration is zero percent this is your four million value empty height at that four million value how many physical inches measuring tape inches zero inches full calibration 100% full height for my tank let's just say seventy eight inches and we're going to send that information set LRV zero percent set you are V a hundred percent dampening value on this is default two seconds typically you can leave that alone on if you had a tank that had an agitator that was creating a lot of bouncing around in the tank you may want to add a little bit more dampening into the system if you had a really large tank or there's really no action on the top that was making that pressure impulse you may want to drop that down to one second but typically to now once we finish those steps in that category we've got all of them complete going through 9 and then submenus we have a complete configuration so let's go back to our main screen now we're reading a PV of 61% our milliamp value how many inches of h2o and a temperature this temperature is internal to the board not process temperature that concludes our configuration of a Andersen Howser of pressure transmitter for a level application
