HOW TO: Clean Your POOL FILTER (Pentair)

[Music] okay having that hopefully this good morning we're going to make a video today we're gonna make a how-to video on how to clean your pool filters okay now there's several different kinds of pool filters on every pool sand de cartridge your coffee filter but we're going to do four specifically today this is going to be a cartridge filter on a tent air pool system so I think besides that I have our a 500 series so the 500 series doesn't matter if you had a 300 or 400 or 500 it's all the same that's basically so this is your how-to on how to clean a swimming pool cartridge filter okay so before you even get started on the filter a couple things you're going to need a wrench crescent wrench works socket wrench works a regular wrench works whatever that is everybody's the filter clamp on the side that you take this use use a wrench to take it off are all sometimes different sizes so that I'm not going to specify that actual size which obviously get yourself a good wrench simple green i really suggest using simple green to soak the filters once you get them out you need a garden hose obviously try to want to get a garden hose that will reach all the way over to the filter area where my lovely assistant Kel Tina is that so get yourself a hose and then a really good spray nozzle okay here we go here are your thirty five thousand steps now I'm just kidding here's your probably five or six steps that you're going to need to know on clean your filter so first off if the filter is running when you come over here to do it obviously turn it all off shut it down turn it off hit your hit your filter button or however you have your your program set up also I would I would kill the breakers I would kill the breakers as well you can also put it in the service mode you put in service mode that helps out that way and you have another remote in the house and your wife decides she wants to turn the pull on because she doesn't realize that you're out here cleaning the filters you don't everybody doesn't take a bath okay we're going to rotate the top of the the top of the filter to release all the air out of the system so by you rotating top of the filter and opening up that relief air valve you're basically now draining all the water out of the tank your next step is then now that all the air has been released you basically just back off the nut and the spring that holds the clamp on for the top portion of the filter and the bottom portion of the filter [Music] [Music] go ahead and release and pull the entire clamp off and set that off your side now that the clamp is off we're going to actually lift the filter off the top of the bottom base so now that you have the filter off the top off you're going to expose your four filters from inside and you have this brace on here that will come off as well so this little brace that hold these filters together you just kind of wiggle the filters and get those to come off come up all in one piece and then individually take out each filter obviously one by one because they're going to be pretty stinkin heavy full of dirt and crap look at that it's gross okay now that all for your filters are out we'll use the trusty simple green here to just kind of soak them down really good Hey [Music] [Music] I remove the vlog on the bottom will hose that off inside we wanted to toes off everything great spray down inside there with the pelicans buzzer Sofia it spray off inside the church is really good the o-ring that goes around the outside of the filter that black o ring will take that off and we'll hose that off just get everything nice and clean because dirt dirt and debris will find its way inside there and then it'll be such a huge headache when you put the filter back together and you get it all fired back up and then it leaks okay now that we are getting the filters all cleaned up basically to do all your steps in Reverse [Music] now when you put the filters back in the filter it doesn't matter how they go in you can put them upside down I think so anyways upside down right side up left to right right to left it doesn't matter just when you when you put the filter back on take your time making sure that it gets seated on the whole ring nice and nice and tight as Cal Tina is finishing up tightening up the filter I'm going to turn the breakers back on so everything is backed up juiced and ready to go we got the filter all put together we still have the valve open up on top which is fine because again when you when you fire up the filter it's now going to work the opposite all the water is going to fill that tank all the way up and then when air is done is shooting out of that and water starts to come out then you'll kill the valve and close it up tight that way you know you got all the air out of the system [Music] you [Music]
