we're going to be going over how to clean the Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro now this is going to be very similar for most polymer Striker Fired pistols but there are specific oil points on this of where you do want to oil and where you do not want to oil there are different schools of thought on how often you should clean and oil your firearm at whether that's after every time you go firing every 3 6 months 12 months whatever that is I will leave that up to you but today we're going to go over what you need and how to do it let's get to it some of the tools that you're going to need obviously a firearm to clean you're going to want to make sure that that is unloaded there I do have a mat here uh just a working mat it's really nice otherwise you could just use a towel this is from uh what Cirrus gear out of Utah USA I think it's 25 bucks with shipping and everything kind of cool though it has a parts list this is going to absorb um any of the solvent or oil that you have on it so it's good thing to grab um pick one up if you want otherwise the towel works just fine you can use a lot of different solvents and oils there's some that are two in one some have the uh the applicator here like a Precision applicator the other ones are sprays so those are going to be nicer ones this is just out of a cheap little set um that I got will upgrade in the future you're going to need some little cloths there the blue shop towels are pretty nice I just have um some paper towels for that later on a little brush it's going to come in handy and you'll want some sort of tool I mean you can just use a toothpick for this to kind of get in some of the crevices um another attachment that's really handy is going to be for for these you'll fish that through um to clean some of those areas so that'll be nice lastly you're going to want some gloves you don't have to have these but uh those are nice there's also another attachment that goes through the uh Barrel that we might go get uh as well so let's get to it each firearm is going to be a little bit different but for the Hellcat Pro specifically so if we go ahead and lock back the slide and that's just going to be this back button here so if you pull the slide all the way back and just push that up that will lock it back the other way you could do it is put an empty magazine in and just pull uh the slide back that will lock it in place and then you could hit that uh release button to get the magazine out now we've got this takedown um bar I don't know you call it you're going to push the top part up 90° to rotate it there and now from here you're going to release the tension in The Recoil spring so if you pull the slide back you'll want to ride the slide is kind of what they call it um just to not let it throw forward so you'll just control that tension coming in and then from there you will pull the trigger you'll see it jump forward and there we go we can pull it apart now this is essentially all that we need to take down here so we're going to go ahead and take take out the recoil spring so if you push this top part down and then pull up that will get it out of the way and that will let our Barrel come out and that's it so we've got four pieces that we need to clean pretty simple like I said we'll go over we'll go over uh where you're going to use the solvent and where specifically to oil and not oil uh each gun is going to have slightly different way to take down but that is how you do it for the Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro so first thing we're going to do is look at the barrel now if you are noticing this is going to be a very clean fired arm this has not been fired yet this is new to me uh but just wanted to clean it specifically oil it um it is a little rough in some places so we'll go ahead and get our solvent out now if you have a spray solvent you can go ahead and just spray directly into the barrel and around the barrel uh that's going to be um some dirty 30 points there uh but since we don't I'm just going to go ahead and take the skinnier part of the brush go ahead and dip that in there and I can fit that inside just want to get that wet uh especially if you fired in this you you'll you can just kind of let that sit the solvent you know feel free to use that uh liberally as they would say okay so now that I've got that just applied on here I'm just going to let that sit let that soak again if this were um if it had been fired it would be a lot worse so that's super super clean uh The Recoil spring all you really need to do with that is just wipe it down so I'll go ahead and take a cloth with a little bit of solvent wipe that down this isn't really going to get that dirty as you could see that is pretty clean cloth so we'll go ahead and set that aside we're done with that now there's going to be uh the two more parts that we'll have so this part is going to be mainly back here so what we'll do same thing is I'm just going to go ahead and dip this brush and if you have some spray and you can you can get the solvent all around here so if you have some spray you can just hit this with spray and then uh go ahead and get jamming on it so this is where this little pick is going to come in handy you can also use a toothpick like I said cuz you'll want to get in these areas kind of underneath that that uh slide guide or that rail so you'll want to get down there like I said this is going to be a pretty clean firearm as it's not been fired main reason I'm doing this is just to oil it um and get any like Factory junk out of there but not really expecting this to be too dirty so again just kind of all these little crevices anything that you get solvent in you'll want to make sure to get it dry so all these little cracks and crevices so I'm so there you go there's some there's some Grime so we go ahead and set that one aside get us a new one here essentially all it's going to be is solvent wipe it off solvent wipe it off um and just going back and forth getting in that magazine well there you go I'll use that pick [Music] again okay that should be good for the lower yeah this frame looks pretty good like I said there'll be some oil points here um but until then I think that is good to to set aside now let's get on to the slide here again this is going to be really clean um but we'll still do the same thing here get that solvent going to go both sides there you'll be able to see where the buildup IS I I guess a lot of it's going to be on that frame there okay same [Music] thing there you go there's some of that junk in that slide right there so we'll go ahead and use that toothpick action there and get get up underneath there whoops again why this is a good idea to wear some gloves you've got some pretty strong solvent and just other things at least personally I don't really want to get on my skin that often okay we'll go ahead and use a different one at that point but we're getting close you just want it nice and dry so as soon as it comes out dry that's when we'll know that we're there so just keep going until you get to that point and it's going to be pretty quick process uh let me know in the comments how often you clean yours you can tell by kind of the Gun oil that I have in this cheap little kit that I don't do it too often but I don't get out and shoot as much as I would like currently um but hopefully that will change here in the near very near future okay I think this looks really good actually okay so we'll call that good again you can do this two or three times if you wanted to if you were you know if you're once a year or something and you go shooting quite a bit um that will help it there now the thing that we have left is the barrel so a couple different schools of thought uh you can use I think it's called a snake where you pull it through or bore snake I don't have one of those so I'm just going to use this little brush here and this brush it attaches at least for my kit it's like a multi-tool type of thing so it's going to attach here pretty simple it's nice you can get these packs off of Amazon for 20 or 30 bucks um so not bad and then what we'll want to do as well we'll go ahead and take that off again you can do that as much as you would like um kind of depending on how dirty your Barrel is this one is going to be pretty clean so you're going to thread I'll go ahead and use a new one you're going to thread there's through like a sewing needle fold it in half that should come through pretty easily there we go just like that so this is going to be used to dry it push that in there you go there you go you see we got some stuff there I'll just shift it down a little bit so it pulls another part of that cloth just want to make sure that it is nice and dry perfect okay that is good for me we'll grab one more just do the outside of it oops okay now we've got everything cleaned we are ready to reassemble and oil now we're going to we're going to oil as we reassemble it'll make a little bit more sense here and this is by SP factory specs so uh you might see something different some people are going to oil a little bit differently um but this is kind of what the factory says to do so you know take that for what you will okay to get this thing back together we're going to insert the barrel now as you noticed you kind of angle it angle it down and in and then it'll slide back in place like so then we're going to take our recoil spring or tension spring whatever you want to call it who make sure that Barrel's back and we want to get it past this Notch here let's see what what is it call a recoil spring assembly there you go so I'm just going to keep this Barrel pushed in and then put some tension there there you go pops right back into place okay now we are ready to put this back in now before we do this this is where we're going to start oiling make more sense as we kind of go along so let's go ahead and get our oil open again the Precision applicator drops they're going to have just almost like a little I wouldn't call it a syringe cuz it's not that skinny but just this little one one or two inch thing that's going to let you drop um a lot more precisely so that'll be nice if you upgrade and get one of those otherwise uh you know th this is going to work okay so we've got this slide you can see back here we've got those two notches that come on both sides of this so we're going to put one drop down each side before we put it back onto this so we'll put it in that little way that Groove drop there now you don't want to over oil which you can do we'll just let that run down let me just get a touch more down there you can over oil because at some point it's just going to collect dirt um so you don't want to do that okay so now now to put it back on we'll start at the front ahead of this part then you just slide it back in and you're going to go all the way back and lock that down that's perfect right okay and then we're going to go ahead and press this button down that was the one that was up so we'll press that forward and now you can go ahead and rack that and we'll go go ahead and go back five to 10 times so that was one 2 3 four five okay we'll go ahead and lock it back now lock the slide back okay there's going to be two um or excuse me one oil point that we're going to do here this is is going to be the barrel go ahead and drop one and you can see I don't know if you can tell on camera here you can tell that there's some wear marks on the top of that Barrel so that's where we want to look oh that might have been a little too much oil actually take a touch that off there we go same thing okay so before I rack that again you're going to put one right on top of this and again you'll see some of that weark uh if you're looking at your guns so we'll just give it a good drop there all right and then we're going to go ahead and rack it five to 10 times perfect there's going to be one thing left that I'm going to do um this is at least personal preference so this this button here as you can tell is pretty stiff for me so this is this is bonus material here I am going to oil that very specific point and you can see there's we marks we marks on mine and just the touch of oil okay now I feel better hopefully that will help Okay so let's talk about before we put this back together let's talk about where not to oil so we put some oil in the channel on each side here this Center area we do not want to oil that is very specific from Springfield Armory so we're going to go right here and right here no oil in there just those two channels okay now that we've got fully oiled up we'll put it back together again there was that little bonus oil because I wanted to oil that little spot we'll go ahead and put that down okay now you'll notice here that there is some oil along the outside that's where your shop towel is going to come in handy and why you'll have gloves so you can take your gloves off now but otherwise you'll just want to wipe this down get all that excess oil off a blue shop towel isn't going to leave this kind of like residu paper stuff but since we don't have that we will do with what we have all right and that is how to clean and oil the Springfield Armory Hellcat Pro subscribe for more
