[Music] hi everyone this is a new video series that we're going to do which is the ultimate guide on how to choose your engagement ring design now I know there are many types of designs and materials or colors that you can choose for your engagement ring but don't worry we will simplify everything for you and give you a guide on what to look out for and helpful pointers to consider for this video our start off of the basics which is choosing your ring material and this topic I'll be mainly covering platinum and different types of gold the most common types of material used are platinum and 18k white gold both materials make excellent choices for white engagement ring or what's the difference which is better perhaps I'll start off with platinum first to give you a better idea platinum rings are usually in 95 for some platinum and 5% alloy usually ruthenium because of the high content of platinum in the ring that is usually denser this is why you find that button rings always feels heavier compared to your white gold platinum is a strong but malleable material thus crafters are able to easily shape the material into your ring design overtime platinum develops a patina finish which gives it a slightly darker and grayer appearance this finish can make your jewelry look more antique but camera polish without losing any metal weight hence people who are usually in contact with harsh chemicals for example hairdressers or mechanics would prefer platinum although platinum is a strong material it is actually softer than a 10k white gold thus it can be less resistant to scratches and and it's important to do regular prompt checks every one to two years to check if the prongs are knocked out of shape moving on through 18k white gold it is made up of 75% pure gold and 25% alloy despite having the same white appearance as platinum 18k white gold a significantly less expensive the money saved can be used to upgrade the other components of the engagement ring such as the center diamond if you're worried about the yellowish tinge and 18k white gold rings after it oxidizes do not fret as it will always return to its original appearance pirate polishing and replating it furthermore if your engagement ring regardless whether it's 18k white gold or platinum is probably taken care of it can last for generations one very important thing to take note is that if you plan to sack your engagement ring and your wedding band together in the same fingers we recommend to have both your rings done in the same material even though platinum and 18k white gold appears identical when they are brand new both were down differently hands will be best if both materials are the same such that they oxidize similarly over the years [Music] what if you wish to get something different from the white Meadows for your engagement ring well there are other ring materials such as yellow gold rose gold and black gold let me begin with yellow gold which has been the most common in the early days among the various gold alloys it is the most malleable and possesses two purest color also you may find it to be especially striking on individuals with darker skin tones couples who choose yellow gold setting for their engagement rings tend to get diamonds of lower colors such as aged color or below this is because the yellow goad of the setting would mask the yellow deserved a diamond making it appear winter however if you're going for a high colored diamond for example each key we recommend not to go for yellow gold as the color of the metal might get reflected into the diamond causing the diamond to appear less white finish should be next up we have rose gold although the jewelry industry is dominated by white gold rose gold has become increasingly popular in recent years the rosy pink color is achieved by mixing pure gold with copper widely considered by many to be romantic and stylish the pinkish rose color gives a slight hint of warmth and colorless diamonds over the years rose gold ring will turn ritter and darker giving a vintage feel to one's engagement ring if you or your partner is a fan of vintage items rose gold is definitely the ring material you should consider furthermore rose gold tends to go well on ferrous skin tones last but not least we have black gold that is unique and eye catching black gold rings are done by rhodium plating the rings in black the original color of the setting is in white gold but it will be rhodium plated into a black color in the past at a sickle to spot people wearing black gold jewelry but now it is slowly getting trendy usually colorless diamond is mounted on black gold ring setting to create a beautiful contrast appearance the classic black and white leg will be fitting for all occasions however you have to take extra caution when handling black gold juries as any bump or knock will cause scratches and review the gold underneath if you are interested but not entirely convinced and getting a full black gold engagement ring you can combine it with other gold alloys such as yellow gold to make your ring look classier and grander an instance is a twisted ring van in black and yellow gold but what if you love colorless diamonds and rose gold yellow gold rings but do not want your diamonds are appeared two or three color great slower is there a way to integrate both of them in your engagement ring yes there's a ring style called two-tone a two-tone ring has two separate metal colors for example rose gold and white gold yellow gold and white gold which provide a modern and refined look the soft dilemma mentioned earlier you can use white goal for the prongs holding onto the diamond and rose gold yellow gold for the band of your engagement ring one of the top proposal ring designs is at to turn to Seban in rose and white gold the Rose go bond adds a warm feminine touch to the engagement ring while the white gold pan creates a beautiful contrast if your partner is a huge fan of bling you can take it further by adding the site diamonds on the white gold band that's all for the ring materials available for you to choose for your engagement ring do
