[Music] [Applause] hello everyone it is Andrew here from IMDB we're going to look at how to change the default airdrop location when you're transferring file normally goes into downloads but with a quick little Automator change we actually haven't go anywhere so to start we ran ahead to a specific github repo of course the link is down below in the description we're going to download their little Automator package here so just download that zip file it will show up in your downloads folder extract it and you're gonna have a little fun that looks just like this double click on it you open it and hit install give it a quick second and then go ahead and let you know when it is completed and just hit done now since this change is going to be an automated change we need to open up Automator weather from your actual utilities folder or command-spacebar and opening up spotlight and typing in Automator tap on new documents or to be doing a new document here entry that new folder action here in that bottom left-hand side hit the button that says choose and you'll have your new document now we need to tell automated which folder we're going to be working with which is me that downloads folder so in that little drop down change it to other and choose the actual downloads folder from your machine and now it'll let me know that we're going to be watching that folder to apply this action to now click on action make sure that's selected in the top left hand side and type for quarantine which is that specific new filter that we've just added that we downloaded from that github repo so drag it from that field to the left to the right and you'll have a new action applied so you do have to hit load it making a little warning that it's from an unknown developer hit load anyway we've tested this out and you are good to go now go down and choose filter for airdrop file so that's what we're going to be trying to move anytime an airdrop file comes in to the Downloads folder we want to move that folder so again in that search bar type in you find your item and drag it from the left to below your quarantine filter here on the right now you need to choose where you're going to put those airdrop file you put it on your desktop you can put it into your home folder I personally create a new folder that I want to go to inside my home folder I created a new one called like airdrop items that's a perfect spot for me so I know where all those files come to and they can keep organized by transfer a lot of those things over so add that if you save it now save your whole thing command S or file save it was something like airdrop and then is it your new Automator actions as we can change that default airdrop location has been created so let's go ahead and test it out I'm going to open up my my Finder window here I'm in airdrop I'm going to airdrop a photo over from my phone to my Mac here and see a little spin and now if we actually go into Andrew go to my newly created air drought files yep there's a new picture here yep that is the butt of the puppy that's been tearing up my argument in all my recent videos but it worked perfectly just move my files instead of going to downloads and now goes wherever you want if you have any questions let us know down in the comments if you want to learn how to remove this there's also a link below in the description please subscribe give it a thumbs up till next time Suzanne Andrew 4i downloads long
