[Music] okay bunny so right here is all the required tools you're gonna need for this project we have a speed square right here a pen for marking your lines measuring tape a box and nails these are the two and a half inch exterior screws that I'm gonna be using and either a circular saw or in my case I'm gonna be using a miter saw but these are on all the tools that you will need for this project okay everybody here is the lumber that you are going to need for this project it is for individual pieces of 2 by 8 by 8 feet boards these are the exterior our pressure treated lumber and my local Lowe's that I got so this is all you're going to need in terms of wood for this project to complete it ok so our first step with dealing with the wood is we're gonna cut a piece for the seat and a piece for the back and so each of those the length is 48 inches so we're gonna mark our score 48 inches each out of the two of these pieces of lumber and it'll give us 4 pieces total of 40 inch sections all right so here we are we have our four individual pieces of 48 inch long sections for the back and the seat portion of the bench and so now we will go to the other lumber that we have left over and I'll show you how we make the angled cuts for the legs all right so here's our two remaining boards so we are going to cut the angled leg pieces out of this next board and so you're going to need your speed square and you're gonna need to make a 30-degree cut on it so if you look at the bottom of your speed square you're gonna see degrees at the bottom and so I marked with a marker the 30 degree mark and so you're gonna place the speed square on the board just like that we are going to with the with the butt of the sweep speed square on the bottom piece of the wood you're gonna adjust it a little bit and then here's the little marker you're just going to turn the marker just so it lines up at the edge of the board and so it's at the edge support and then you mark on this outer edge you're lying all right and there's our 30-degree mark and now this method works perfectly well when you're using a circular saw now I'm gonna be using my miter saw my miter saw has a built-in 30 degree cut setting and so I don't actually need to use the speed square and this method but I'm just showing you this for if you're using a circular saw all right so here's my miter saw and you can see my 30-degree mark on the board that we just did earlier but I am going to set my miter saw in the 30-degree cut setting and you can see exactly how you do it with the miter saw instead of using the circular saw and the speed square so I have my 30-degree setting it on my different degree settings right here so I'm just going clamp this and turn it and it'll walk into 33 7 all right so after we made our first three degree cut we are going to measure 30 inches from the edge of the board and make a score mark and then we are going to do a secondary 30 degree cut so we can have two pieces out of this one board that are 38 inches long and have one end of Apple ends at third and grief cuts all right so now here we have our to our to 38 inch pieces that have the 30 degree cuts in them and so for the next step we need to actually taper off a section off of this of this board so what are you going to do is you're going to get your measuring you need your measuring tape you're going to line up on the edge of this board and your edge of it you're going to model them and then put up a little taper mark at the four and a half inch mark on the board and then you're gonna go on the opposite end down this end measure out from here to here 21 inches okay now you're gonna need any straight straight edge - now those two marks that may look like that you're good and you're gonna cut that out and then once you have that cut out you're going to use this new piece of wood as the template over this piece all right so now that after you make that cut this is what your piece is going to look like this is gonna be the finish angled cut piece like I said once you get this cut you're just wanting to set it on top of the second piece and use it as a template so you don't have to draw that foreign half-inch score mark in that 21-inch and that's it you can draw your little template [Music] that piece alright so here we are we have two of the exact same angle to cut boards user department [Music] portions of the leg and so next we're going to move to the last of our two by eight by eight foot board out of the four that we started with and we're going to cut the short leg sections out of that all right so here's our last order cogman and so for this to make these short leg pieces we're going to get our speed square and we are going to start with a forty degree cut and then we're going to measure 19 inches from the edge after we make our cut and then we're going to make a 45 degree cut and once we cut that section out with 40 on this side and 45 degree on this side we're going to use that piece as a template to cut the second piece all right that are 40 degree cut all right lock my - line at 45 degrees let's measure 19 inches and we will make a 45-degree all right now here is our piece now we'll just overlay this over the rest of the board and use it as a template this look like this if we cut 45 degrees so what we're going to do is we're going to want to flip it and use the template that way so that our 45 ends up with this 45 and that the other end lines up with our 40 there'd be in all right there we go our second small leg piece and that's it that's all of our cuts and now we can assemble the bench all right so here we go here's all of our cut pieces of lumber here's our 4 48 inch pieces and here is our two short leg pieces and our two long leg pieces to assemble this bench all right so now to assemble the legs here's one sections the first thing you're going to do is from the butt of the wood right here you're going to measure 12 and a quarter inches and you're going to make a mark on the edge well on this other end we must fire and 3/8 of an inch this now you're going to grab one of your straight edge pieces going to connect points together straightedge and one part there one more care four lines and now you have your your resting line little short leg Pisan is going to rest right above that and so make sure when you have your short leg pieces which end of the little short leg you put your 45-degree cut that we made and a 40 degree cut because the 45-degree cut is going to be the one that is resting on the front side of the lane so it's going to be pretty much the side that is where the the butt of it is going to be resting towards the middle of the long leg piece and set up investing at the top where the bench goes all right so we're going to assemble this long they can shorten it together let's grab the pieces of the bench just finish up nice and flush [Applause] and I may use just an extra little spare puppies it's just as support to help keep this off flush all right so hopefuls pieces are nice and flush and give them a box of screws I'm going to use a countersink bit to pre-drill on four pilot holes and then use an impact drill to screw those in all right that's it so this is one one of the pieces assemble now and I we just need to do the reverse for the other leg which is going to be on the opposite side of the bench so they are going to be reversed from how we offset that twelve and a quarter inch mark and that's five and three eighths mark all right so here's our second leg piece now that's going to be in Reverse so like you already saw here's our first leg piece that we made so the reverse are they going to be flipped so that piece being like this going to be going this way set up our 43 and I'm a 45 being like this it's gonna just flip over me like that all right and that's it we have both of our leg pieces secured and ready now to assemble with the pitch all right so we're gonna assemble the seat pieces together on to the legs so what I did is I just stood up both sides of the leg pieces now you can see the shorter leg pieces are on the inner side the spacing was correct so just by placing a board at the bottom seat and then I'm gonna grab an actual piece and set the bench first there's a lip off of the edge of the the edge of the bench awesome right here we want to measure about an inch and a quarter and slide this slightly soft [Music] we want to measure that the lipof of that is about an inch an inch and a half so that's just about perfect so when that's about an inch and a half off I'm just going to put two screws in one screw right here one screw right here on each side and then we'll do the second piece right behind that all right so now that we assemble that first bench piece on there now we can grab another piece and do the back section so for the back section what we're going to do you're gonna lay it in there we're gonna put one screw down in it through here and the board is gonna be sticking off over this edge and we're going to screw into it that backside through this piece of wood back here all right so now that we got both bench pieces assembled now we can assemble the back pieces all right here is the finished look I had a issue with recording when I was installing the back piece but when you just install these back boards all you're gonna do is just put the top one flush with the top of the of the wood rail right here and then you're still gonna install just two screws on each side to hold it in and then you just do the same thing for the bottom piece just put the bottom piece right under just a small little gap in there and then just secure it in with two screws on each side and then that's it all right here is the final product after I sanded and stained it down this is the final view of the bench on my porch here if you guys like this video please drop a like and share it leave a comment and I will link down below in the description the link to where I found how to make this and the original video that showed me how to make it see you guys can give them a watch and a like also and that's it thank you everybody
