I have doing freelance video
editing for 3-3.5 years and meanwhile, I have learnt a lot but imagine that whatever I have learnt about freelancing, video editing,
and video editing software, I forget everything! So if I had to start everything from scratch, what would I do? In this video, I am going to
give you a 6-step framework. I would do the same. First of all, let me end the debate of computer video editing vs mobile video editing. You can edit videos on mobile as well as computer. But I always say that there are fewer
opportunities in mobile video editing and with computer video editing,
your horizon becomes broader. All the Reel content creators
are creating content on mobile only. But professional work is
being done on computer only. Here, I would suggest you that if you can afford a computer, even if it isn't brand-new, if you are getting a second-hand computer
in good condition, then buy it. But if you can't afford a computer at all, if you have no budget for it, then you can start with your
mobile for the time being. I mean, don't stop yourself, after earning some money,
definitely buy a computer. If I talk about the specifications, the specifications for an
absolute beginner will be Intel Core i3, 4 GB RAM, and 2 GB VRAM GPU. These are very basic configurations. You will get these very cheap with this level of configuration, you will be able to do 720p and 1080p editing. Although you will face some
lags but you will learn. Now let's talk about which
software should you use. I haven't edited much on mobile
but with what I have done, KineMaster and VN Video Editor are good apps. I always suggest you to learn
industry-standard software. What are industry-standard softwares? Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve,
Final Cut Pro, and Avid Media Composer. Among these, Davinci Resolve and
Avid Media Composer give you a free version. You don't need to pay for it. You will get it for lifetime for free but the functionality will be limited but your work will be done conveniently. In Premiere Pro, you will have to pay monthly. Final Cut Pro charges a one-time price. Believe me, if you learn any of these softwares
and you also want to be a professional, if you want to work in the film or TV industry, these softwares are being used there. I had also confirmed this with
my friend who lives in Mumbai. He told me that the commercials/ads
are being edited on Premiere Pro. So Premiere Pro is also a good software. Recently, Everything Everywhere All at Once, which won the Oscar was completely
edited on Premiere Pro. After choosing a software, now you have to learn it. There are two ways to learn a software, either you can buy s course online or you can learn it through YouTube for free. I also learnt it for free through YouTube. If you want to learn it on my channel, I have created beginner's tutorials of
Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, and Filmora. Those are 20-25 minutes long. Different tutorials for all three
softwares are on my channel. After watching the beginner's tutorial,
you will learn how to use a software and you will get familiar with it. If you want to buy a course,
you will have to research for it on your own because I haven't purchased
any online course yet so I can't tell how good and reliable it is. A lot of people ask me whether
they should join an institute, they ask me about a college
which can teach them editing. Even I didn't go to college to learn editing so I can't say anything about this but if you specifically want to go into film editing, if you want to edit films, then you can get into Film and
Television Institute of India (FTII). They conduct an entrance exam and there are some other formalities, you can take admission there. There you will make good connections and you will get to learn Avid Media Composer. If you want to become a professional,
you can join that college. So as a freelance video editor,
stock footage and stock music is an important part of our workflow and so many subscription websites are
available that are providing these services but there is only Western stock footage
and Western stock footage. What if I tell you that there is a stock website that provides you with Indian stock footage and also Indian stock music? This gap is filled by our today's sponsor Creatigo, which was especially built for the
Indian content creators and audience. Earlier, we had to use non-Indian stock footages. But now, you can tell your storie
with your own culture and you won't find these stock footages elsewhere because these were exclusively shot for Creatigo. If I talk about Creatigo's music, the music available here is like the music you find in Netflix shows and the
shows of the major production houses. That level of music is present on Creatigo. From traditional Indian melodies to modern beats. And they also provide you with a unique content ID which you can add into your description and tags so that you don't face any
monetization errors in the future. They have subscription plans. You can buy any of these subscriptions and you can also buy a single asset
with a price of 499 INR. If the viewers of my channel
use the coupon code 'AMAN30', you will get 1 month free with
Creatigo's Classic plan. Currently, Creatigo is only accepting
credit and debit cards for subscriptions but if you want to purchase a single asset, there are other payment methods available. If you want to learn more about Creatigo,
you can check the link given in the description. Then I would have created my showcase video. See, I have learnt everything
but I don't have work to show, I know that I have the skill
but my client doesn't know it. I will have to show the work to them. So I will take my phone and shoot
an introduction video of myself. In the introduction video, I will say, "My name is Aman Malik.
I am a freelance video editor" "and I can edit these types of videos." "I can also edit reels." I will make a 30-35 seconds long video and use the editing that
I have learnt till now in that. Test animation, music, sound effects, some color grading, and I will use motion graphics and make a professional-looking video. Now I will take my showcase video to Vimeo. We will make our video editing portfolio on Vimeo. First of all, you need to come to Vimeo. You need to go to vimeo.com. A home page like this will be open
when you will log in to your account. I don't think I need to tell you
anything about logging in. It's up to you. A dashboard like this will appear. This is my dashboard. You just need to click on New Video and click on Upload. Then you can drag & drop your video here. It will start uploading. As you upload videos on YouTube, you can give a title and write a description here. Now you will ask, "Aman, if it's like YouTube,
then why don't we use YouTube only?" Look, professionals use Vimeo to make a portfolio. So if Vimeo is used for portfolios,
why not use it for your portfolio. But if you want to use YouTube,
you can use YouTube as well. You just need to make your video reach
your client and it should play properly. It will play properly on Vimeo
as well as on YouTube. You must have seen how
I uploaded the video on Vimeo. You can do it like this. As you will get more work,
keep uploading it to Vimeo. I have uploaded one video. Now I have one video to show
that I can do good work. I am telling you my method now but I have created a 15-minute
detailed video on this. So make sure you check this video of mine. I have given you my own email template as well so that you can learn how you should email. But in this video, we are discussing how
I would have approached if I knew nothing. Then you have to come to LinkedIn
and here you have a lot of options. Come to the jobs section and type 'video editor' here. You can also enter your location
where you want the job. I searched for it. A lot of filters are given here. Click on Job Type, choose Part Time or Contract. If you want a full-time job,
you can also choose Full Time. You can click on Show Results. Here, On-site and Remote, you can click on Remote which means you can work
from home like a freelance job. Some people write 'Social media manager' so you will have to apply more filters. They need a video editor
and motion graphic artist. If I remove Part-time and Contract, we will get more results. Like there is a company called Burner Digital
which needs a video editor. They want an entry-level video editor. But make sure to read the description
properly to know their requirements. Often, they give an email address at
the end for you to email them and they don't even check
the applications from here. Nobody has given their email address here but a lot of people do. You saw my LinkedIn method. Then what I would do is, all the small creators who could
improve their editing or I can make their editing
better with my editing skills, I would reach out to them. They can pay me an acceptable amount, even if they pay a little less,
it's okay because I will get to learn but do not work for free. I always tell this to you. It's okay to charge less, but do charge something. I explained the LinkedIn method to you. The second method is through emails. I have explained the format of email in that video but let me explain in short. Just simply write what you want. My name is this. I just started editing and this
is the first video I have edited. I am comfortable with this software. I can do this good editing for you. I watched some of your videos
and found these mistakes and I can make it better this way. If you like this video of mine,
I am also ready to give you a discount, and I think I will be a good
editor for your channel. If you have a language problem,
if your English is not good, then there is no need to worry. If they are an Indian creator,
you can email them in Hindi in the message writing. It's okay.
Good creators don't mind the language. They will understand. They will only see your work. But I would ask you to learn
English in the long term. You can learn it through YouTube. Improve it gradually but don't stop writing emails because of that. Do write it. It's better to write it in Hindi
rather than in poor English. Now let's suppose I emailed so many small creators and also applied for job opportunities on LinkedIn. After working hard for 1-2 months,
let's suppose I get a client. My next point is, don't rest. Keep updating your skill, work with the client honestly, do be rigid by doing only
what they ask you to do, do some new things in editing
by using your own creativity, and try to deliver as good work as possible. And if they are your permanent client, take feedback about what
they like and what they don't. Their audience that is commenting
on their video which you edited, you can read those comments
to know what the audience is liking. There may be some comments that
will give you knowledge about editing and what could be better,
that will only increase your knowledge. I hope you got to learn something from this video. If you did, please let me know in the comments. I'll see you in the next video. Till then, stay healthy, stay safe, and Aman out!
