How to Become a Notary Public in California A Step by Step Guide

I'm assuming you want to be a notary public okay maybe you want part-time income maybe you want to quit your 95 but before you start seeing the money you got to do the work this process can feel a bit tedious but there's a reason why everyone isn't a notary so that's why I'm here to hold your hand through the whole process to get your notary Commission in the state of California if you're watching from another state you might want to go somewhere else because this is only applicable to California and I'm definitely the one to walk you through this process because this is my third time reinstating my commission in the state of California I got my first not commission at 20 the exam was pretty hard esally back then it felt harder but because I've done over a thousand signings this is a piece of cake I feel like I really understand how to pass now this is a huge tip okay because you can know the material but what the test does it tricks you we'll get to that part at the end I've also Built My Own loan signing business that I currently don't really do too much Business board because the market is down it's kind to become more of a side income thing for me but I was doing it fulltime for a good 2 3 years and you don't just have to be a loan signing agent to make money you can do all deals General notary work there's so many other things that I can't name but I I know people that are making money just from doing General notary stuff don't let the loone sting stuff scare you away from becoming a notary because yes it is a bit slow right now but when things pick back up you're going to be ready to go as soon as the market takes off all right enough chitchat let's get to the steps so right now I'm at Cal State flon to get my live scans and this is I know it's very random but I am in the area and this is the cheapest I found for live scans over the phone they told me it's $71 back in La was quoted around $90 so it might be a little more cuz I know for notary I think we need like two and I scan and something else so I'll let you guys know how much that actually is but I need to print so this is another thing another step in the process you have to print the form before you come I left it at home I do have it filled out but I'm going to see if they print it here it's only one paper but since it is a college campus I think they're going to try to charge me for it if not I I'll figure it out let's go so yesterday I bought my notary course and because I'm renewing it should only be 3 hours but easy notary does 6 hour I could change it to 3 hours CU you need the certification or certificate of completion and I could get it faster with the 3-h hour one but they did tell me it's the same fee so like might as well just do the 6 hour so I was like fine this is what easy notary looks like honestly I wish I did this before because I don't know it just seems like it's really worth I feel like you get a lot of bang for a buck in this course okay now let's talk about the exam because I didn't realize that it gets bugged up like a month in advance I thought I could schedule the week of no so what I'm going to do is just go as a walk-in so that is an option and all you have to do as a walk-in is go 45 minutes early whoever doesn't show up whatever you take their spot but you want to come prepared so you're going to have that list of things that you need for your exam so you're going to need the passport photo your notary application so just print that out and have that filled out before and then finally your certificate of completion and that's what I'm doing right now I I can't remember if there's something else I that might be it okay it's the day before my notary exam I actually don't have my exam scheduled tomorrow I'm just going to show up at like 8:00 a.m. cuz who's going to wake up at 800 a.m. on a Saturday morning and it's twist to rain so I will most likely get a spot manifesting that so right now I'm going to go get my passport photo taken and the money order for the exam so I'm just going to go to the Post Office to do both of those cuz I think it's just most convenient and it's probably the most cost efficient so let's [Music] go [Music] of satisfactory evidence I spent all day working on this so we are done and all I was watching the world world cuz I'm obsessed arrived to the testing place and I don't have a spot so I have to get an A appp I am here at like 7:30 I took my course through easy notary and they said to come like before 700 a.m. honestly I think I'll be able to get a spot only because I called ahead of time they said that the 8:31 isn't packed as far as studying for the exam I studied all day yesterday which is about 4 hours I studied 2 hours like a week before and then now so I actually I actually really this is not sponsored unless they'll probably sponsor me later I don't know they have like a speedrun so I don't know if you can see that but basically it's going over everything I learned yesterday like super fast and I'm able to play it in the car so I've just been listening to this on the drive here it's very very helpful and now the burning question do I think I'm going to pass I don't know they asked very tricky situational questions and then it's like choose the best answer so like another answer could be right but the other one's a better option so it's kind of confusing I'm not trying to get psyched out but I do feel pretty confident so let me go get my spot for the exam and I'll talk to you guys after okay I'm back from the exam and I definitely passed the only questions that I slipped up on were the ones that were or like what is the fine if this happens like the amount and then if it was like a misdemeanor a felony or if it would terminate your whole commission you're going to do walk-in it's super easy I came like an hour before the exam I was totally fine they let me walk in with the people that were already um like registered so I don't think you're not going to get in I don't think it's like a busy season for notaries to be commissioned so I think you'll be just fine I hope I got close to a 90 like I really did I felt really confident about this so okay so here are my post exam feelings so so it is hard only in the sense that it's trying to trick you but like as long as you know everything you should be fine and I know that's such a seems like a copout answer but truly cramping the day before really helped just like subconsciously keep it in my brain because if I would have studied this a month prior I'm not going to lie it probably would have left my brain maybe you do work like that though I wish I could tell you more about the exam but they switched it out every month so just know it's situational and it's meant to catch you slipping don't be slipping apparently I will receive my results in 15 visits days I believe and then once I pass I don't know if I have to wait an extra 30 days for my packet to come in I believe that's what will happen um and then I can go to my county clerk get an oath of office done and boom I'm done oh and then get my bone but those are the next steps and if you want I can make a video on that and obviously you don't have to go the cheap way I did this in one of the most cheapest ways possible but that's because I kind of know the system and I know I don't need to be paying
