How to Automatically Farm Pianta Tokens in Paper Mario: TTYD!

the pan parlor in Paper Mario the Thousand-Year Door has had a number of changes between the original GameCube version of the game and the much anticipated and loved remake on the Nintendo switch one big change is the economy of pan tokens it is now more inflated compared to the GameCube version you can now win more tokens in the members cards games and many of the prizes had their cost increased even though the regular coin counter for the rest of the game now caps at 9999 that's 49 instead of $999 39 unfortunately so does the pi token counter too which used to Capt all the way at 99999 on the GameCube that's 59 but the most anticipated change was the regular slot machines between the exchanger machine and the high score machine being replaced with a pair of matching games similar to the slide panel mini game from Super Mario Bros 3 and its remake this change was made to address gambling in a children's game the green one on the right is the easier of the two and gives back a small payout the one on the left is a harder one that cost four panas to play instead of one but gives a much better payout when you do win it I'm going to show you how you can do nothing and max out your Pi tokens on the Red Machine this is a strategy that I came up with on my own after hours of experimenting in manual grinding and because I was tired of playing the parlor games many people online say that you need to coordinate your button presses with Visual and audio cues to increase your odds of winning and of course this was also true for the regular slots from the original game but what I'm showing you is how to automatically make money in this game by setting it up and then doing absolutely nothing so you don't need to follow any guidelines on increasing your odds or anything like that all you need to do is set it up then sit back relax and watch your money come in the first thing you need is a turbo controller for your Nintendo switch for those of you who don't know what a turbo controller is a turbo controller is a programmable controller that lets you automatically mash the same button without actually doing it yourself and timing it out all you do is hold down the button on the controller and then it automatically mashes the button for you but for this particular trick you shouldn't just use any turbo controller you need a turbo controller with adjustable speeds the speed of the turbo controller is extremely important with regard to the timing of the slide panels on this machine if you do it wrong you're not going to profit the key here is to win tokens faster than you lose them the turbo controller that I used for this trick is a wireless Pro Controller from Amazon it costs $20 and I put the link to the page in the description but the availability and price may change there are other controllers similar to this one that will work but for the highest confidence I recommend this one this controller has three speed settings for the turbo function to change the speed after you connect the controller to the Nintendo switch you hold down the t button on your controller and use the right analog stick flicking it up or down the light on the controller will flash a number of times to let you know the speed five flashes per second is the slow setting where the turbo button presses the assigned button five times per second 12 flashes or button presses is medium and 20 is fast for this trick you need to use the slow setting the slowest button mashing is what allowed me to profit from the matching game machine if you have it to any other speed you're going to lose money you may even nearly if not completely go bankrupt I recommend saving your game before trying this so you can reload your save and recover your money if something does go wrong I also highly recommend starting with at least 100 or more pan tokens so you don't go bankrupt too quickly as you're going to lose a lot of tokens before you start winning back even more personally I like that for these matching games you don't have to go around picking up your tokens when you win part of why this process of automating your Pian token output is possible once your controller is all set up open your game and go to the Pian parlor make sure you set up your controller and you have the speed set to the slowest setting and then hold down the a button then press the turbo button to assign the turbo function to the a button walk up to the Red Machine and hold down the a button the controller will now play the game for you but now you have to find a way to keep the a button held down you can do so by using a piece of tape and a coin or something but the trick is to set your controller down and put some sort of weight on it so that the a button is always pressed and the game is automatically playing there are other controllers with automatic turbo so you don't actually have to hold down the button but like I said it needs to be at the right speed or this trick will not work and you're going to lose money the reason this trick works is because the speed of the automatic button pressing makes the panels land in the right place enough times to profit as a matter of fact I highly recommend starting this on the beginning where there's a star on the front of the machine and never let go of the a button from there or the timing might get thrown off but you know I've had this happened and I still profited and the reason the higher speed settings don't work for this trick is because it makes the panels stop too quickly and in my experience they become misaligned and you could lose more tokens than you win and we want to win more than we lose obviously once it's all set up all you have to do is wait it'll be an hour or two before you start seeing that you gain money and several hours before you really profit it's random in my experience but you will profit 500 to 1,000 tokens per hour with this method in fact you can even leave your game on overnight and if you do you might wake up to thousands of tokens maybe you'll even have reached the cap of 9999 token I don't recommend staring at your counter too much you might just lose confidence if you're down a few tokens just leave the game automatically playing on its own and go do something else while you're waiting after you get thousands of tokens go to the counter and exchange your tokens for prizes the most efficient way to turn your tokens into coins is to buy as much cake mix as possible then go all the way to the toad Bazar and sell the cake mix there for eight coins a piece that's a good ratio of 44% of what the pon exchanger does compared to everything else but the fastest way is to buy Triple gold bars and then sell those you can also buy as many badges as you need
