How to adjust the Steering Sticks and Veering Tracking Adjustments on a Zero Turn

welcome back to Mexico the home keep getting requests to do a stick adjustment in full so I'm going to try to give you the various ways that your stick can be adjustment and how to adjust them so that they are centered and the sticks can be out just the sticks it can be tracking perfectly straight and you've got one stick to hit the other and by having one stick to the other it's just activating and it's not set properly so I'm going to show you some ways this happens to have this hold artists need to have a ceaseless get away and the seat suspension kit affords me to have this little adjusting handle here you probably couldn't see in that shot let me see if I can tilt it down a little bit where you can see it and you'll see a 36 inch yard little yardstick sitting here on top of this adjustment handle and it's bumping both sticks when I look down this stick then I purposely got this one set and you can see I've got a ridge here I've got this one set so that this one is probably ahead of that one they what I already probably have two cameras in this thing and let me put them together here real quickly and you see right there just coming straight out for the they are probably I don't know if you can see that or not you know but you can see that you can see that they are about half inch difference about a half inch that's much the size of your finger width Retton hear mine so what I'm gonna do in real quickly is I'm going to adjust this that's the stop right there all the way forward this one hits the stop all the way forward so this one is slightly back of that one that means that I'm not getting as much movement on thee and I actually have by the way I got this more all screwed up for you just like I did that last two mornings and it really works me a deaf guys just to keep resetting this thing but this thing tracks perfectly straight and I really hate to change anything but you've actually supports the video so let's go ahead and do that and I think I have another tool right here so what we're going to do here is we're going to rip this loose at the adjustment [Music] all we're going to do and you want to set this thing back there right there tighten this puppy up just smoke it know if you would have had your dick at 70 safely sit through tightening because if you don't what's going to take place is they will loosen up while you're morning you will not enjoy that now these things set level and you line this bar up to the front of your seat or even from your deck here then this one is touching properly and that was touching properly and it is now online how hard was that guy's pretty simple okay so let's do doing this check it right here now these things are perfectly learned look down the front they look down this edge she's lying right there okay so then you got two perfectly left handles and if you notice some of mine mine will touch that way I can actually operate them more like this with a videotape you don't have to do that these things do touch and I recommend you don't do this because while you're going with both hands you'll have a tendency to put the handles together and you might cause yourself an accident of some sort what I do what you do should be two different things because this is just to show you how to do things not how to do these incorrectly this is incredible now let's play take these forward and they bump at the same time and they are straight across now that has that the looks like one's higher than the other but it's far as straight across they're straight across there you go yeah I'm not going to try to just ease up and down because they don't have an adjustment for that these are just not bent exactly the same so that's the reason why they are a little bit off but what we are going to do we'll take these back up in bummers Park this is your park space criteria your Hustler big dog owner you know the Denny's park we're going to go ahead and then we're going to tighten the tickets out of these things because we don't want to move it [Music] if you don't do this they will loosen up okay now let's say that your sticks are in adjustment but one is a little softer than the other and I'm not saying softer because the rods one for the wheel motors is easier to move one way then that's not what I'm saying they have under here they have a spring right down here I've shown you some other videos and I'm gonna see tell you what I want to shut this camera off I'm gonna shut this camera off and move it where you can see down there because I know that it's difficult at best to see it even with your bare eyes so let me turn this off and I'll move okay right down here at the base of this stick you're gonna see a spring right down there all right we can render we still a bit bitter right inside there and you can see the note on the back it's a bolt it goes through here and that sets the tension on this rod where it makes it softer or harder to push now really that's not true either it doesn't make it softer or harder to push what it does is it actually the tighter that spring is the more sensitive the stick the stick will not be allowed to move without moving the rod if the spring is tightened quite a bit so I have mine as you see in Cole bind call by means that's a sensitive is that's going to get and when I sneeze it moves so that's just exactly how I like it I do not want this thing to not respond when I if Eileen ordered a thousands of an inch I want to feel a thousand speech of movement in the steering rides so that's one thing you want to do is set that to your comfort level if you're not an old hot rod builder and driver you'll see both sides have those on your sticks there's a spring right down in there and you want to set those things where they're to your liking not to mine so adjust that now way down inside there let's see you see that yoke right down here right in there and I know it's wanting to with some stuffing other than that it's just you can see a nut on it and let's see if I can get the light week see it a little bit better anyway there is a yoke down there on that rod that rod is gonna move when you push that stick back and forth now in order to just the wheel motors it is a good idea to have these rods in neutral and part in other words and then you can adjust that yoke back and forth but you have to adjust let's get her light you'll have to adjust this Rudd right up under here I got to zoom the end of it all right you see that rod coming through here see the nuts on it loosely both of those up adjust these rods so that your sticks are in even in parallel and then tighten those back up before you loosen these you need to put a clamp right here you see those two protrusions above the spring right here clamp those so that they stay perfectly together once you've done that you need just your sticks back and forth so that your rods your sticks then are straight across and you can adjust this now if you're tracking is off do not adjust your sticks any further leave your sticks too long what you're going to do is now you're going to just by clamping these two levers together on your will marker you're going to loosen if it's tracking to the left then you want to slow down the left wheel motor I do not subscribe to that it is prescribed to slow down the fastest wheel motor new new new new new what you want to do is if it's tracking to the left we are going to go over here because you guys are some of the fastest morning people in the country you know what you're doing so what we're going to do is we're going to speed up the slow wheel motor because we want a mo fast they say in some country there are companies that it's not how well you mow fastest how fast you mow well I don't think that's right either that's not how well you MOA tell you mow faster I don't know how that goes but what we're gonna do is we're going to clamp these two levers down here on the wheel murder right down here you'll see the protrusions right there clamp those together and then if it's going slowly on the right hand side you're going to loosen the rear nut on that rod loose enough you're going to turn it counterclockwise about two and a half turns then you're going to tighten the front nut on the rod you're going to turn it one turn one full turn tighten up the rear hold the front tell us locked and then your a lock it in place and you're going to drive it if it's still not tracking straight still pulling to the left tracking to the left and you're going to do that to the right hand side again you're going to speed up the right-hand motor people are just so rude to make phone calls when I'm shooting so make sure that you speed up the right hand wheel motor if it's going to the left now once you have it where it's going straight and you jack it up and you put it back in park if the right hand wheel motor is barely searching or moving then what you're going to want to do is you're going to back this right hand side off until it just stops putting reverse full reverse bring it back to park do that five times each both think both sides and then if it's no longer creeping then you're going to slow down the left side wheel motor other than that if it's tracking one side of the other speed up the slow side make sure the wheels don't creep so that's pretty simple stuff right there guys and that's pretty much all there is to setting up these mowers to track straight and adjust your sticks now I will do a tracking video probably and I'm gonna set this back in there in the I don't know if that's how simple this this setting up your sticks is to do just keep it straight across lock them in place if it's one stick is ahead of the other and you've got your adjustment out in your in your to stick part so you get a a to be the top is a or the bottom is a the top is be vertically then if you've got that all the way forward and you can't on this top part here and it's still out of adjustment you still need to go more then your rod going to the wheel motors but have to be adjusted if after you've adjusted the wheel motor drive and it's still out we got a problem here adjusting but here's what you want to do if you've got your rods out of adjustment in your animals are still cooking then go ahead and then bring your will motor rod into alignment with your sticks and then make sure the two little motors are going to correct speed after that you've done all there is to do because it will be running true your sticks will be true you'll be a lot happier camper and you know it's going to make a lot more trouble to to write your hustler horse your big dog anymore and make sure that you go by mass Depot yes we have a mass depot decal
