today we're going to talk about being a technician what it means to be a technician I'm going to show you the difference between real and fake look at that Ed pressure is too 65. and the low side pressure is one 25 looks pretty good right 51 on the Vapor line temp so it's about 75 degrees outside today remember you got this little chart here need help charging checking the sub cooling should have around 10 or 11 right now but we'll see I'm going to show you something today something pretty important something you should be doing on the jobs or in the 70s we're probably in the high 70s I bet I bet it's about 77. all right I'm going to show you something something super important because we're almost charged with this equipment we're probably at like what maybe eight degrees of sub cooling right now 77 look at that hahaha Teddy how'd you know 77 and 85 so about yeah about eight degrees of subcoin how'd you know that taddy I don't even know let's go inside I'm gonna show you something important show you how to make magic thermostat saying room temp is 71. it's 71 degrees in this house Supply vent is blowing 54 degree air that's not 20 degrees so what I'm going to do is I'm going to check airflow because I can hear these vents I can hear it hear that they're rocking let's check this one whoo 1000 feet per minute I bet all these vents are blown that hard I'm going to leave this right here and we're going to do something four ton unit how do we know 48 oh okay variable speed man you can hear that thing all right so we're going to take this off to lower our fan speed and check that temperature split so we can use the cool or the adjust and we can also add a delay for a humid climate okay we're gonna put this on beef all right now I'm going to go to Cooling put this on B oh hear that fan speed just lowered okay very good now let's check the temperature split leaving in the same spot oh look at that oh look at that no more thousand right well just hit a thousand but it wasn't saying 800 before it was saying 900. now let's check the temperature split it's still 71 in the house just turn the dual and duct cyclometer on and it says 53. we just lowered it one degree now let's make some more magic let's go lower that speed again okay that panel out of the way take this it was on a I put it on B and we're going to put it on C oh it lowered it more now let's go check it okay let's check it out same place oh I don't remember seeing the 700 that's more like it now let's check the temperature split 70 degrees in this house all right turned on the field piece SD P2 51 we just dropped it two more degrees it looks like it's still going down now we've got a 19 degree split and it's still going down so we've probably got more like a 20 degree split now this vent isn't roaring anymore measuring feet per minute on the return Grille earlier I was reading around 470 500 now in the same spot I'm reading around 300 so that's more like it a good duck system has balanced airflow all of the supply vents should blow the exact same so when I lowered the fan speed just now twice that means that all the events should have a lower feet per minute reading and they should all read about the same and that's how you know you got a good duck system I'll show you this one four ton air handler looks like we got a t and that's a nice transition all hard metal and nothing out of the end cap down there which is nice I love it got some panning right here that is the supply and this is the return and it looks great it looks great proud of this one there's the float switch in the pan got the Trap man this is a nice job love it it's 70 degrees in the home still 49 degrees coming out of the supply vent that means that we have a 20 degree 21 degree split airflow on this vent is great no longer have that loud sound go back to the beginning of the video when I held you down here and let you hear that sound and now hear the difference wow check out the pressures now low side was 125 now it's 115 right above 115 high side is now 265. so pressures didn't change much low side went down maybe 10 psi this Char a liquid line temperature is still 78. so if we look at the saturation temperature of the high side 78 and 88 that's about 10 degrees of sub cooling and then low side saturation is about 39 and what we got here we should have probably about I'm going to guess 49 48 No Maybe yeah maybe something like that 40 oh my okay never mind this thing's acting crazy someone contact Fieldpiece on my behalf I need a new meter 44 okay so 44 and 39 so superheat is and it just keeps jumping let's just say five degrees of superheat uh well I think it was like 10 degrees sub cooling something like that or eight degrees so yeah every homeowner needs one of these a thermometer with a hygrometer so a thermometer that measures humidity you can see the high was 57 the low is 50. I like anything in between 40 and 60. anything under 40 I don't like anything over 60 I don't like so great idea to get one you want to provide value use the right tools make the right checks and make the adjustments that the equipment needs in the field this will make a huge difference we dropped the supplier temperature like around 5 degrees that's amazing us lowering the fan speed will provide more dehumidification this is a foam house so that really matters in a foam house I always recommend that the customer with a foam house get a dehumidifier put it in the basement if you have a basement if you don't put it in your main floor and get one that has a pump built in Hisense has a great dehumidifier around 200 I think Lowe's carries this but you could probably buy it online you can have that pump pump that water out that dehumidifier into a drain nearby maybe into a sink whatever you got whatever you have to do and then you never have to worry about mold so control that humidity all right hey if you want a video about uh high humidity and what causes it and what to do I've got a video on that I'll put it down the link in the description it's for homeowners I also have a bunch of videos on airflow and using the anometer and checking the feet per minute if you want to learn how to check CFM BTU per hour definitely check out the videos that I have down below for you so that you can learn more you've been watching HVAC tips for technicians I'm Tad and I'll keep you cool if you let me
