How to adjust a uPVC door or window to stop cold air draughts!

have you got drafts coming from the edges  of your windows or doors well if you have   there's no need to panic because your windows  and doors have a summer setting and a winter   setting and that allows you to control how  tight they seal around the edges and the   good news is all you're going to need is  some screwdrivers and a four mil Allen KY   so just to prove how effective this is I've  got my thermal imaging camera and we'll take   an image of before we adjust the door and  an image after so that we can compare the [Music] results so my door is particularly bad at  the top and as you can see I've got some excessive   movement at the top however the rest of the door  isn't too bad so I'm going to open the door and   show you how to effectively adjust and control  the pressure between the seals okay so this is   the Leading Edge of the door now as you can see  we've got four adjustments on this door we've   got one at the top and one at the bottom and they  are a screwdriver adjustment and then the two in   the middle that are near the lock they are cams  and to alter these cams you're going to need a 4   mil Allen key but before we alter them I just  want to explain to you the difference between   these so these cams if you can see they have  a mark on them now I've put a blue marker pan   on them just so that you can see a little bit  clearer so at the minute with it pointing away   from this Rubber seal that indicates that that  is the summer setting if they're in an upright   position that is a neutral setting and if they're  facing the Rubber seal that is a winter setting   and that applies the most pressure between these  seals so the first thing to do is Alter this into   the neutral position so if you get your Allen  key insert it into the cam and then just turn it so that it's in the neutral position and then  you can shut the door try it if you're happy with   the seal that's job done if not open the door  again and turn it from the neutral position all   the way around to the winter setting now when  you come to try the door if it sticks at any   point then all you need to do is slacken that  back off slightly in an anticlockwise Direction   right have you subscribed to my channel if not  why not it does not cost a penny all you need   is a Google account sign in Click subscribe  and you won't miss out on any of my great videos okay so the final adjustment on this  particular door is the one at the top and one   at the bottom now like I said before these are  exactly the same principle and these are a screw   slotted screwdriver uh adjustment now as you  can see again I've put a mark on it to indicate   whether it's the summer setting neutral setting or  indeed the winter setting now these work slightly   different these are elliptical so as you turn  it it increases or decreases the pressure the   same sort of principle get your screwdriver put  into the slot turn the screwdriver 90° to set to   the neutral position turn a further 90° to set  to the winter position and try the door each   time so on the screen now there is the thermal  imaging picture that I've took of the door and   you can see there is a very slight difference  from a thermal point of view however the real   difference is that there's no longer any drafts  coming round from the edge of the door and these   doors are particularly old and probably a little  bit bowed by now so just by adjusting them we've   got a nice tight seal and that is just done  so I hope you like the video don't forget   give this video a thumbs up leave me a comment  and the most important thing please subscribe
