- Hey, what's up everyone. My name is Tim. In this video, I'm gonna explain how you can add subtitles in iMovie. And after that, a very easy alternative, how you can automatically add subtitles to your videos and
customize them with VED. All right, first things first, I just started a new project within iMovie and I wanna drag my
video onto the timeline. So I'm gonna select this video and drag it onto the timeline. So, there's one way you can add subtitles to your video and they're
technically not really subtitles, but they can kind of
function as subtitles. So simply add over the titles next to audio and video and backgrounds. And as you can see, you can add a title and they
can function as subtitles. So in this case, I'm gonna
select slide lower third and I'm gonna drag it onto the timeline. And once you selected the title text, you're able to edit it. For instance, if you
click on the text itself you can just simply type
whatever you want to type. And as you can see in the top
menu, you can change the font, you can change the sizing, you can centralize the text, you can change the color if you like. And within the timeline,
you can click and drag on one of the sides to
extend or shorten it or click and drag it from
the middle to reposition it. And if you want to copy and paste the subtitle to add a new one simply hold the option
key on your keyboards and click and drag the subtitle
to the right or to the left. And as you can see, we created a new one and we can edit this one as well. Hey, so now if you play back the video. Hey, everyone, my name is Tim. You can see the subtitle or the
title is added to the video. Now it's very limited because
I can't remove the animation and obviously I have to
do everything manually. So instead I have a very
easy solution for you. How you can add automatic subtitles to your videos in seconds. In this case, we're gonna use
Veed's online video editor and we can instantly get started. It's very easy. Head over to your browser and type into your URL box veed.new
and click on enter. You can also click on the
first link in it description. And now we're instantly redirected to Veed's online video editor. We can get started. We're gonna simply upload our file and select the video you
want to add auto captions to. In this case, I'm gonna select this video and click on open. After a moment the videos imported and
uploaded into the editor. We can add automatic subtitles. So to make this happen, head over to subtitles in the left menu, choose auto subtitle because that's the more convenient option. Select the language you
speak in your video, in this case, it's English, so I don't need to change anything, and then click on create subtitles. And now you can just sit back and relax until the subtitle
tool transcribed the audio. And now, as you can see the subtitles are added to the video. My name is Tim. I just wanted to say a quick. And you can start editing the subtitles. For instance in the
subtitles menu on the left you can see all the transcriptions. You can correct the words if you like by just simply clicking
on one of the words. Let's say you wanna change this
name to Steve or something. And also if you hover your
mouse in between the subtitles you can add an extra line or
you can merge the subtitles. And on the right, you can see
the timing of the subtitles. You can change it from here or just simply go to the
bottom timeline menu, where you can see all
the subtitles as well. You simply click on one of the subtitles and click and drag to extend or shorten it or click and drag it from
the middle to reposition it. Now, everything is already pretty accurate because the auto transcription
tool did an amazing job, but let's say you wanna
split the subtitles in two, simply use the play at
and let it rest somewhere, click on split subtitle, and
it split the subtitles in two. Now, before we burn the
subtitles into the video, I'm gonna show you how you
can download an SRT, TXT, or VTT file. So to make this happen, head over to options in the subtitles menu and on the download subtitles,
simply select the format you wanna download it as. In this case, I'm gonna choose SRT and then click on the download button. The same counts for text, for instance, simply click on it again, click on text format and
click on the download button. And now if I take a look into my device I can see my SRT and text file. I'm gonna open the text file. And as you can see, the
transcription is in there. However, if you wanna burn
the subtitles into the video we can also customize the subtitles. It's very easy. Simply head over to styles
in the subtitles menu and you can easily change
the font style, the sizing, the color, background color,
the spacing, and much more. And also within the video frame you can easily just click and
drag the subtitles around. You can use the side and corner options to resize
it and use the rotating option at the top, rotate the subtitles. And that's it. That's how easy it is. Now, if you wanna export
your video, simply head over to the export button
at the right top corner, choose your preferred render settings. I'm gonna choose HD. Make sure burn subtitles is enabled and then click on export video. And after the video is rendered you can watch the video back on the left. Hey everyone, my name is Tim. I just wanted to say a
quick hi to everyone. And as you can see, the
subtitles are added to the video. Now, if you wanna share your video click on the share button below the video you can copy the link
and paste it everywhere. You can directly upload the link to your socials or embed
the video onto your website. Or if you wanna directly download
your video to your device simply click on the download
button below the video. Click on download and before and it should be in your downloads folder. All right. So that's how you add subtitles
in iMovie and alternatively how you can use Veed to
add automatic subtitles. Thank you so much for watching. Good luck and have a nice day.
