are you looking for more smoke flavor in your pellet grill I've got an easy solution for you this video is brought to you by Western premium barbecue products a premier supplier of many types of wood chips and wood chunks not every pellet grill works the same they don't all generate the same amount of smoke especially at higher temperatures once you cross 300 degrees and that's too bad because we want all that smoke flavor in our food think about the recipes that could use a nice boost to smoke chicken wings mac and cheese Seafood reverse seared steaks nachos the list just goes on this is where we can use a smoker box with some wood chips wood chips in the pellet grill really absolutely wood chips add so much flavor to smoked food even in a pellet grill let me show you how we do this first go ahead and heat up your pellet grill we're actually going to preheat the smoker box on its own once that's warm use a glove transfer it to a baking sheet and then pour in your wood chips to today I'm going to be using pecan pecan whatever you want to call it because we're smoking chicken and it adds a great flavor and color go ahead and use a torch and then burn one side of the wood box that way we can get the Embers going close that carefully and then place this back into the warm pellet grill right over where the burner is mine is in the middle on my smoker now when you're ready which should be very soon because the wood chips are smoking go ahead and add in your food and I'm adding in my chicken I'm gonna put it on both sides of the smoker tube careful not to disturb it too much I've got the smoker running at 325 I really just want some crispy juicy chicken the wood chips will smolder and generate smoke in between 30 to 60 Minutes it really depends on the temperature that you're using in your pellet grill and also the type of wood after about an hour I'll go ahead and check on the chicken you could see that it's got this nice tan color that you get from the pecan wood now I did not switch out my pellets I'm just using what's called a competition blend so it's got a mixture of a bunch of stuff that's more just because I'm lazy and I don't want to have to swap out flavors every single time so you could see that this is a great way to pinpoint some extra flavor for a specific cook and get great results you might be wondering will it increase the heat of your pellet grill maybe but not enough to affect your food the whole point of pellet grills is that it has that technology to monitor the temperature and make adjustments as it needs to I hope you find this helpful let me know if you have any questions leave a comment below cheers
