How to Add Audio Over a Video on Kapwing

hey guys this is jack with kapwing adding music to your videos can be a great way to change up the pacing in your video and also just keep people more engaged i know that ever since i added dynamic music to my youtube videos i started getting a much higher retention which ultimately helped me grow because the youtube algorithm really likes retention so if you want to build success on youtube and you don't already use music in your videos then you definitely need to start however adding popular or trending songs often doesn't work for youtube videos because a lot of them are copy written of course and your video can get strikes or taken down or demonetized and things like that so today i'm going to show you the easiest way to add music for free on top of your videos and i'm going to show you two ways number one you can use your own music and number two you can use our free audio library on our online video editor kapwing so let's get into it okay hi guys so the first thing you're going to do is go to kapwing.com you can just sign in it'll be the first link in the description and you can sign in for free it's completely free just sign in with one of these options then when you're in your workspace you can click new content and then you can put in some videos and i want to put audio over it go down to the audio tab right here click that and then we have a few options so number one you can click and upload or drag and drop any file that you have so if you have a certain audio um or piece of music maybe that you made you might want to do this you can also paste in an audio or a video url and it'll pull the audio from that and then it'll pull that into the timeline you can also record doing a voiceover by clicking the record button and doing it that way and we also have a royalty free list of music that you can use um you can do that by clicking one of these categories of tracks so say that you want a piece of music that is lo-fi or something then it has all of these options for lo-fi music here's an example [Music] so pretty chill um you can go ahead and listen to those and then when you like one you can just click it and it'll paste into the timeline so now you have music on your video but some things to look out for is that sometimes the music might be longer than the actual video if you're doing something short um so to fix that you can just trim the ends of the music down by pulling the sides down and i can meet it up with this other clip now this music is just as long as the video you can also do things like click on it and change the volume right here on the side um so you can make it louder or softer this way and you can also go over to the effects tab and you're able to click the fade button and fade the audio as well um so say that you want to fade out of the video for your outro or fade in you're able to do that by clicking fade and you can click apply to intro outro or both i'll click both and you can see that this uh you can see it fade out so that's normal and that's with the outro um so you can play around with the fades as well now let's say that your video is longer than the music and this piece of music does not go that far then one thing you can do is maybe that you will want to repeat the music so just click apple c or copy it by right clicking clean copy and then of course you can paste it and then you'll have music throughout just make sure that you trim the ends because if you don't and the music is out like this when you go to export your video you will just have you know an extra minute or whatever however long um of just audio with no picture because it will export with the excess audio because it thinks that you want it so just make sure that you trim it on down but yeah that's about it if you want to do something like sound effects instead of audios then yeah you can just upload or paste in sound effect links um but for music we have a great library of all different types of music right here and we also have the ability to upload your own or voice over it by clicking the record button that's how you add audio to video if you're done you can click export video button up at the top it will process and then when you're done you can just click the download button and save it to your computer alright guys thanks so much for watching make sure to subscribe to the channel to join an online community of modern creators also check out our discord so you can keep up with other cup wingers and the kaplan staff and i'll see you guys in the next one [Music] so
