hey guys lek here quick video to show you how to bleed or burp your cooling system uh after you know you replace your thermostat radiator or flush your system uh to replace with your with fresh anti-freeze cooling and so on uh this process works on any car i'm specifically doing this on a 2007 dodge charger so the idea if you want to be charger specific will work on a 2006 to 2010 but like i said this the way you do this works on any car sometimes you're using a radiator sometimes you're using the reservoir in this case this car doesn't have a radiator cap so we're going to be working out the reservoir you need to get a funnel i recommend getting one of these non-spoken funnel kits you can get it on amazon for about 20 bucks i have a link below uh autozone sells it as well i think it's more like 50 though uh i think it's just brand name so this comes with all the different adapters and what you need if you don't have that you don't want to spend money you can honestly use a water bottle or a regular funnel used for oil just make sure you have a tight fit in your reservoir so it's not moving around if it's a little loose you can put a little duct tape around it make sure it's a tight fit and that will work as well obviously you need fresh coolant if you're tapping it off in this case i just replaced my radiator and my thermostat i have video links below how to do that for this car if you want to see as well as how to pressure test your car so that's another thing so please check the descriptions below to see the links for the other videos but anytime you do this make sure your car is cold you don't want to be working on a hot car if you pop open your radiator cup and the car is hot this is going to explode pressure heat is going to burn you dangerous make sure your car is cooled down we're going to unscrew the cap remove our cap find the correct connectors i'm going to use this kit in this case but like i was telling you guys you can just use one of these this just gives you more visibility and more less chance of the coolant spilling out get a little adapter make sure this is closed in there nice and tight okay we're gonna get our cap on step one with this car specifically we do have a bleeder valve here which i'm gonna loosen up with a 3 8 wrench not every car has it it's not a necessity to do it i'm showing you both ways you can do this this way and also like the more traditional way uh where you're squeezing the hoses so i'll show you that in a minute so i'm gonna loosen this up and you gotta loosen it up pretty good to make sure that the pressure can escape um i should probably do it you don't want to take it completely off but you want to make sure it's loose enough alrighty and now we can start tapping off our coolant you're going to keep filling this up till it's about a third cool and if you guys listen you can hear pressure coming out of here which is helping you fill up the system avoid any air bubbles so make sure if you buy a concentrate coolant you are doing 50 50 mix meaning 50 um 50 you know half and half half water half distilled half distilled water half coolant if you're buying a 50 50 you don't have to worry about it you already have it pre-mixed correctly this dutch charger takes about 11 liters quarts of antifreeze to completely replace it so that's what we're going with and basically right now it's a waiting game when i see liquid liquid coming out of here that means our system is topped off i'm going to tighten that back up and we are not there yet there we go it's spreading out now a little bit i'm gonna wait a little longer there we go and that's what we want we want bubbles once the bubbles stop that's when we know there's no more air in your system i have a steady flow here almost so now i can tighten this up not too tight you don't want to strip it that step is done i'm going to fill this up one third of the way again so now have this about a third full so we can test for any more bubbles we basically want no bubbles to stop so now what we're doing is we're going to start our car we're going to turn up the heat all the way on high make sure your ac is off the reason for this is if your ac is on your uh fans will go on right away and we don't want that happening and now basically it's a waiting game we're heating up the car we want the thermostat to open what we will know that opens when the fans kick in and then you're going to see a bubble and more because it's going to start sucking up more liquids into the engine uh once this starts happening now we're going to start squeezing the hoses but make sure you're careful because you have your belts running here this is the older old-school way you squeeze in the hoses to get any bubbles out and you're looking any bubbles coming out of there there's the upper hole and then the lower one over here where the thermostat is which is a little harder to get to but as you see i'm squeezing and we have bubbles still coming out so you want to get all the bubbles out of the system if you don't get all the air out that can cause more heating issues car overheating and other problems and the reason we turn on the heat on to open up all the cooling system going through your heating so if there's any liquids in there and as you see as of course running bubbles are still going we're doing this for about 10 minutes once the fence kick in there was that open which i think just did actually so now we're gonna wait for the bubbles to stop we're a few minutes in right now i can see my temperature slowly climbing a good sign is i do have hot air blowing when i was fixing this issue originally with the car there was no hot air so that's one telltale sign there's issues with your cooling system uh you know you won't hide air blowing so yeah let's wait few more minutes a couple more fan cycles make sure all the air is out so you can also rev up your car race the rpms that might help you get some bubbles out of it as well as you see and it helps heat up the car faster so you can you know get the right temperature fully in so i've been running the car for about 10-15 minutes now maybe a little longer went through a couple fan cycles i don't seem to have any more bubbles which is a great sign car went up to like middle hot then it dropped down a little bit when the thermostat kicked in that's exactly what you want to see and nothing's leaking that's a plus that means my radiator replacement went well my uh thermostat replacement went well and fluids replacement well now we can remove this and you can do this while the car is running if you have this funnel kit it does come with this little plug which you just shove it in there and you have to be careful when you're removing this because uh this is hot now it's been running for 20 minutes so you don't want to spill this on the car on yourself it comes with a lid you can cover to safely remove it i'm just going to pop this off i'm going to drain this into my bottle so that's the convenience of this kit if you were doing a regular old-school funnel you can take a long screwdriver wrap a rag around it shove it in that funnel pull it out the same way uh but for 20 bucks this is very convenient yeah we're going to close up our cab and the reason i can do this one right now when the car is running because everything's open there's no pressure build up yet um people say you know usually you want to take out the excess liquid i might do that but technically it should just overflow and drain out whatever's extra so i'm going to leave it for now since i'm not going to waste your time watching showing you guys how to pump out liquid holes out of a reservoir but anyway i'm going to let the car run for probably like another 10 minutes just make sure everything's functioning well you know i want to feel safe on the road but that's it that's how you burp uh your cooling system guys i hope this is helpful please check out the links below for all my other videos for this car for the cooling system fixes i just did as well as other cool stuff give me a thumbs up comments if you like this and if you have any feedback for others and myself please subscribe thank you for watching thank you
