How Tall Are My 2 Foals? Let’s Measure Them & Find Out!

hey horse lovers welcome back to free spirit equestrian so a lot of you have been asking me how tall are my Phillies now Esmeralda and Ariel so in today's video we're going to do a little bit of work with them and then we're going to measure them to see what their heights are aie you excited always getting into trouble are you trying to eat the sponge my goodness Belle and Ariel we got to do some grooming and yes the mud has absolutely sucked here in Mig it has been so horrible probably one of the worst Winters we've ever had normally we get a little more snow than this but it hasn't even been freezing I cannot believe it I literally scrubbed all the H's legs the other day put them in the Stalls to give them a break and literally cried because it's so bad so I'm just doing rotations and it is what it is and there's nothing you can do about the clay literally nothing so this is actually sand I brought them in the outdoor Arena just to groom them and play with the fs today and hang out with Belle so at least they're going to get some time out of the mud I hate stalling my horses though because it's never a win-win if they're in stalls then they're not with their herd which is what they need if they're in the mud then they're outside but then they're in the mud so it's honestly the biggest struggle I have during the winter I'd rather just have it freeze and be cold and get the snow and then everything would be fine azy you're getting so big we got to see how tall you are yes we do do a quick grooming and then we'll measure you what do you think her butts growing faster right now dirty girl so this is just a a dry shampoo like a foaming thing that I can spray on her and wipe her with a sponge I mean baby horses I think they like to be dirty even more than adult horses so there's only so much we can do and I can't hose them right it's too cold it's like 40 barely 40° right now so this is the best we can do huh cuz you like to roll and lay and the mud and all kinds of [Music] stuff you hear that somebody has a side by side over there she's looking [Music] at what is [Music] that after spraying her hair with the dry shampoo I sponged it and now I'm using my hard Curry brush to get some of the clumps out now I'm using my hard brush to get under her coat and get the rest of the dirt in the sand out as much as I possibly can and I'm going to do this all over her body and let's just appreciate the fact of how patient as meralda is being considering she's a 6-month old Philly but she loves to be groomed and she loves attention all right horse lovers that's as good as we're going to get with this oh my gosh disaster what are you doing let go you're silly also horse lovers I got new Muck Boots and I'm wearing them today so they are from hea and I what is [Music] it Ariel came over to say hi you're next girl you're next wow she's quite a bit smaller I know look at this good job Ariel's trying to eat your flowers good job good girl nice job nice job good girl so for reference Esmeralda is 6 months old and she is a Belgian Clyde stale saddle bread cross so she's going to be a lot bigger than Ariel is what are you doing so we're going to see how tall she is today at six months old easy good girl good girl yes look at this look at this good job good girl it's okay look at that look at it good job look at you good girl good girl what a good [Music] girl okay we're right about not straight up and down down there you go stand good oh it's okay okay so here we are with her measurement good job eie good job and she is on let [Music] me she's just right here so almost basically 131 131 that's 6 months old so we'll see okay let me tatch her right away so that was good do some grooming all right now we got Miss Ariel here so we're going to try to groom her a little [Music] bit can you hey what are you [Music] doing Esmeralda always has to be the center of attention like when Ariel is getting attention eie just runs over because she wants the attention too but this is Ariel's time and she definitely deserves it for those of you who are new to the channel welcome but this is Miss Ariel and she is a sweet fo that I got 3 months ago and she was totally unhandled meaning she had never been touched so I've done all of her training halter training and teaching her touch like she was so scared and a little bit honry about being touched in the beginning she of course had never been brushed her feet have never been handled so honestly she has come so far and has developed so much trust and I'm extremely proud of her she's a very levelheaded steady Philly and I think she's going to be very easy to train once we get to her unders saddle work in a few years I'm so glad that I purchased Ariel because obviously she is a very special Philly and also it gives Esmeralda and Ariel a friend like they hang out all the time they eat together they play they're just super sweet hanging out with the fos and training them is totally different it's hard to explain but I almost feel like there's no pressure like there's no pressure to start riding them or do anything like that it's just a very long drawn out process and you're really able to gain their trust and develop the communication pieces so I'm very excited that I have the opportunity to work with both of these girls because Esmeralda is my first full I've never had a full born on my farm and I've actually never worked with anything younger than a 3-year-old now I have started a lot of horses under saddle that have never had training before but they at least were halter broke and they had the basic handling skills so I started a lot of horses under saddle taught them how to Lunge I've retrained horses I've done a lot of that but from starting with an actual full all the way up until they're started under saddle I haven't done that exactly so this is a new opportunity and Ariel was my first completely unhandled horse that I've trained so it's going really great and I absolutely loved it like it is so rewarding it is a lot of work and a lot of time like I sat in her stall for hours just to gain her trust and let her know she's safe but again it's just a different approach but it's so magical and now sweet Ariel has a place where she can grow up and Thrive and get a really good education and be loved and have friends and everything she needs so I'm very thankful that I have her also I want to talk about something so ever since I purchased Lumiere my beautiful new buckin horse it drew in a lot of new people and because Lumiere was more of an investment which was something very special and something I've worked for basically my entire life I want to explain that my mission with horses is to find them and work with them and then eventually find them a home in whatever capacity that may be some horses I get are absolutely emaciated and injured some horses need rehab some just need training some come to me with a good education and just need miles but Lumiere was a purchase because I really have just dreamt of having a horse like him my whole life and I finally was able to come across an opportunity that I could so I took advantage of that and I followed my heart now I will be keeping him forever but I want to explain that my mission is to help horses that have so much potential but they just need that time and energy in whatever capacity that may be and remember I have been doing this way longer than YouTube for I mean several years and I've only been doing YouTube for two so there is so much that has happened that people haven't seen even for those who have been following me since the very beginning which I really appreciate you guys and I know you know what I do but when somebody comes to the channel and you know they see the barn and all the stuff we've done and then they see this new horse they just think wow all this Glamour and no I didn't come from that I worked for it you good girl you nice baby you nice baby yes you are yes you are she's such a sweetheart you are for okay that's a little bit better now we're going to pick our hoves girl I can't even begin to describe just how sweet and precious Ariel is a lot of people are like oh she looks sad but seriously she's just such a calm gentle soul good job baby good girl that was nice hey last one as he's trying to break out good girl good girl nice job nice girl hoves look good so that's nice that's nice okay now to put it in perspective for Miss Ariel she she is a Braven quarter horse cross and she is 8 months old so she was born May 1st so she's going to be smaller than asala because of the quarter horse influence I think and her color is technically red rone where Esmeralda is a smoky buck skin who's going gray ready we're going to measure you now now I put the stick on eie one other time when she was younger like a lot younger but Ariel's never been measured so we'll see how she responds to it it kind of scares horses like it's this big thing and it's coming down and it's kind of creaky so that's normal how are you going to be about this okay no more liing the sand Dad no dad a no he a sweet baby you are let's measure you good girl you want to hold her right here look at this [Music] yeah it's just [Music] me good girl look at that what is it it's okay it's not scary look it's not scary good job it's just me good girl it's just me good girl oh good baby right about there nice job Ariel all right so Ariel is about 121 okay so she's 121 so 's 131 and she's 121 which is so funny so but that's still she's still going to be like a decent size I don't think she's going to be like 14 Hands tall I think she's going to be like between 15 and and probably 153 would be my guess yeah you still baby you still baby good girl what is this is this scary yes Kyle loves his new car heart looks good whoever sent it yes very kind okay who sent it very very nice you pretty girl so cute want to walk around a little you I think so just pay attention she's usually really chill so that's her overall demeanor good girl Ariel oh she did it good job also hor lovers today I am wearing my Winnie wine lipstick it's all
