[Music] hello yukti ma'am hello Sachin hi Lin hi ma'am hi Lin hi Sachin yeah uh you guys yeah same here so welcome back to our another episode that is episode two on a YouTube channel beyond the ranks so you know thank you so much ma'am for you know taking out time from your busy schedule and you know giving us an and uh you know giving us uh an opportunity where you know we can interact and you know we can help our viewers to get the most out of your experience so it's an honor to have you on our platform thank you L I think U it's the same from my side I I I am going to enjoy this uh podcast for show yeah uh so ma'am you know uh I think we should start uh so my first question uh would be uh you know uh you know we can uh you can directly start by you know uh telling our audience about your introduction about your academic background and about your current role in your current organization sure so hi everyone myself yukti meta I am a mother of 10 months old baby boy and uh so coming to my uh credentials I have completed my bachelor's in computer science from Indira Gandhi Deli Technical University and uh then I joined uh master's program in N jelanda for that I gave gate exam uh so through that I got admission in nit jalanda information security course the this was a 2-year mtech program and post that I have been into this industry corporate world uh I have been a part of three organizations so far uh four may maybe because I have been an intern as well in another organization so yes I started my career from PWC one of the big fours and I worked as a consultant over there then I spent around two years there then I moved to an IP firm clar and I was there for three years and then post that I am into you know market research secondary research I am senior market research specialist at Gartner uh so yes since uh 2022 I am in Gartner only okay great great so yeah uh so like like introduction so he will be you know Tak inspiration from your credentials only like strong credential pack big four for top IP company for Gartner so you know impressing profile ma' uh yeah moving on uh moving on to our second question uh so ma'am as you told it you have pursued your btech and then you did uh mtech from nit jalander uh so um bch so you never thought of you know sitting into the placement drive on campus placement back in 2015 I guess yeah like you have had that Clarity in mind I think that's a great question uh so this was back in 2014 when I was in third year so during that time only you have to take a cautious call whether you want to you know sit for the placements that are going to you know take place in the next year or you are going to have another uh you know master's degree so be it MBA be mtech be it Ms so in third year only I thought of you know uh joining the mtech program I I had no inclination towards MBA because at that time I thought I was not the right fit for the corporate world I thought I should be a uh I should be you know going into the teaching domain and I should you know join some University and be an assistant professor over there with that with that thought at that time I thought to you know uh get more confidence on my um study and uh that is why I thought of you know joining gate uh that is why I thought of joining actually made easy so post joining Made Easy I actually enjoyed you know learning those subjects because during our btech days we are little casual about our course and curriculum uh so I was not that you know uh though I I got decent marks but I did not have that kind of you know uh understanding of the subjects so for that reason I thought of you know uh joining M easy that will also help me because obviously one has to have a safety net if you do not crack gate then what so obviously to have a safety net I thought to you know sit on sit in placements as well I could not crack first few companies and then uh TCS uh came into our campus and I was selected for that so this was like a TCS was my only safety net but then post getting TCS off a letter I just uh I did not look back and I did not sit into any placements be any organization that came into my campus uh I only you know uh I was only focused and you know concentrated for the gate exam that was going to happen in 2015 okay but with that reason as well I never thought of joining corporate world that was another uh miracle that happened okay okay uh so moving on to another question uh like when I was in my final year I was stuck confusion you know I have worked in an tech company poost my bch for you know couple of months so know but likei which is the you know better career option like after btech MBA is a much better option or pursuing mtech that is like a debate of Delhi versus Mumbai which is a better City I think [Music] and is best for that person that is a red flag please don't waste time on it so I I have you know people around me there are people around me I think that is a very personal choice that you should you know always listen to your head you want to go into some marketing or management or Finance profile or I should be you know open to some um universities profiles like Professor related profiles then obviously is a very good choice but this is this was when I Professor option MS similarly when I was in nital C profan they were setting for these placements I think mtech is something and knowled but the need of the is techn knowled man profile your repor is do expect from you if we are talking about some technical uh if you're working on a technical project so my manager should have a sound knowledge about it it will be very difficult for a repor to you know have a manager Bas so it is always a good to have uh good to have understanding of what we studied in our btech okay mtech gives you that kind of confidence okay got it uh so one thing I would also like to add on to uh to your suggestion based on my past experience like I completed my mtech from nit sural Karnataka from 2020 to 2022 so branches like basically I'm from Biotech Industry so it sector civil or computer science background last so rather than you know uh preparing for C or you know coaching plus MBA a costly degree know advantages this is what I have realized over the time yeah one thing like and like one more thing like whenever we choose between mtech and MBA like the first criteria we choose is what is the scope after the mtech or MBA and what is what what will be the salary package we will get after mtech or MV ma are there any other criteria through which we can also choose between mtech and or MBA um I think such yes you have already listed uh few of the criterias but my only gut is that what you want you should decide M uh some people are like so one basic thing that I have observed around myself is let's say if you are bch in mechanical uh we are very knif when we join bch during those four years we become really mature we understand this is something that I really want to continue or this is something that I do not want to continue if you want to continue go for mtech if you do not want to continue and you just want to do this uh do and void then go for MBA so for example if I am not very much interested in reading more about my uh btech curriculum obviously why would I want to do an mtech degree absolutely right so yes I think then it becomes fair for someone who does not you know have interest in what they have studied for like four years then why should they spend another two years on it got it exactly uh so ma'am moving on to another question uh like you know currently working in big fours so like you know they are always engaged into you know uh traveling from one city to another city so like you have given amount of time into this domain closely field evolve so what is your take on this key like tell our viewers about a day in a life of a consultant so Consulting it structured uh profession it's very random your day is very random especially client facing Ro client facing role obviously you are Bound to You Know answer client calls and manager expectations at same time so in my case I was deployed at a client uh at client and my client was a government client so line of service that was gnps government and public sector and about understanding what your client is asking they may say it or they may not say it you have to be like uh you know alert enough or intellectual enough Instinct what you have to say what you have to speak what you have to think you should be you know very confident about it that is that is how you know my role uh was like and uh project management vendor management you are more like pmo Ando client so basically bridging between the client and the vendors okay right have time or they do not want to you know engage into this discussion so that is why pmo is there pmo is there to you know have good discussion with the client and when the client and pmo you know are in the right alignment pmo vend communicate and you pmo has to make the thing work okay and client will only ask pmo what is the status of the you know task M so that is like a very uh random and a very you know you are always on the toes okay yeah especially because of client already you are there at the client site it's not like a virtual role MH so you're there in person and you have to be like uh always confident about the task that has been given to you and you always have to play the man you can never disrespect your client that always that you know that applies to every other role as well but yes when you are there your body is speaking as well and not just your words are there so you have to be like really cautious about it uh ma'am did you plan to become the consultant or like did you CH any field as well uh no I never planned to be a consultant such actually I got uh a very nice intern I I was an intern at ABB and that was like a very nice tool which I got it was very much aligned to what my mtech curriculum was so we were there uh it was more under software engineering domain and I was you know working with robots day and day out uh we were working on back end coding robots that project I was a part of but uh they gave me a PPU as well but that was in Bangalore and uh I did not want to you know continue in Bangalore I wanted to have a job in Delhi NCR uh so then I got another offer from PWC obviously that was not a very technical uh role which I was you know going to get consult being a consultant is not what you knowled more like who do not come from a technical background but I thought to you know just give it a shot but somehow I thoroughly enjoyed doing it so like which part of a role that you like the most do did you like the coding or did you like the Consulting I should go back in time and do what I was doing but uh Consulting it's it's obviously langage language but still you have that confidence the basics yes yes but in my I always fear so ma'am like what what skills do you believe are like Essentials for the professional to develop in order to thrive the Consulting role if you can mention few uh skills per say if I speak obviously technical knowledge is a must uh if you get a chance to you know get certain certifications on cloud or machine learning or be RPA uh you should definitely go for it it's always a good to have on your plate uh your client will never ask certification but if you have it and it's always a good to have um skill and uh also you know managerial certifications like PMP or Prince 2 these are also very much important again if you want to you know clim the ladder in your professional career yes so yeah I think I and yeah uh and since now these analytics platforms these business intelligence platforms are in place when I was in Consulting these were not like really really trending but uh the hype today is such that uh one should you know have a good command on these ABI platforms so yes getting a certification in tab orbi is is Wonder like big data and Hardo and all these things at the end it's more it's more about how you present your uh work like so if you have a good command on parbi let's say obviously your reporting skills would be great great your data data storing telling would be easier like these are all the hard skills ma'am like like as the IT professional or as a it graduate like what is the role of learning the soft skills as well uh obviously there are courses around you you can always go for um any course that is available on LinkedIn or any other platform but I somehow do not have much faith on such courses if we talk about soft skills it's more like if you watch certain videos content read this is something that you can brush up really well from such sources rather than you know watching videos or watching or having those certifications I I really don't know if that works it might work for someone but uh you know what watching good content uh news channels or newspaper reading newspaper that that is really good to have good great you know soft skills because as it graduates as it graduate we only focus on the hard skill like learning the coding programming as we Java python C++ and all these things so in the long run soft skills will definitely benefit get we will get a benefit from it so of course this is is not the thing that we should ignore and only focus on the I think hard skills right very true because soft skills is more like product but if the packaging Is Not Great why would anybody want it yes so but but for that you know for someone to open that box en so soft skills I see as the packaging thing around you how you say it but how you say it that is another skill yeah okay exactly so some IGN uh but that is actually you know equally important uh if we talk about any you know job roob uh so' I have a one followup question on this like uh uh like I used to you know on day-to-day basis on daily basis I used to spend about an hour on LinkedIn you know LinkedIn L like for example Fin and I am from a college visit like they used to visit nit or top schools comp you know um see obviously thresh I totally agree LED and you know you reach out to people led people are very active when they post uh you know certain job opportunities uh they give you their email addresses as well L that is you know to leverage LinkedIn or to leverage any such platform is another skill is another art actually people usually do not know how to you know set alerts for such roles so L also gives you an opportunity s you know if you go into the bottom tole you can just tole it toggle the switch button and aler okay so you should not you know miss a single chance because opportunity and I think in my in my perspective I would say leveraging LinkedIn you should be so much active on it have SE platform organ cgan which might be a fit for you up job portal you know you should be uh looking at it at a good frequency or as your credential you should reach out to some person otherwise you know applying to the job roles and then getting a caller focus and if you feel like obviously go for higher education uh I in my perspective and your B is you know that is not right uh it's such a you should you know you should not waste the time and think of higher studies you should definitely get a job post that you'll meet different people and uh aim for a better College then so that you get a good job uh ma'am moving on to another question uh like uh I was you know going through your LinkedIn and I was you know studying uh your academic background and your career switches or significant Milestones achieve over the years uh so one thing I have observed ke like uh down you have you know uh keep on evolving yourself so what motivates you this is the ideal time for me to switch so like uh I want to you know hear it from you your thoughts on Career switching and your perspective behind it um so in my first organization um I was you know actually uh surrounded by some good experienced people and they only told me that you should not settle down you should you should not get you know comfortable in certain role if you feel like please don't wait endlessly obviously you should wait you should have patience but if you feel like uh you want something else in your life uh please don't sit and it's more about Randomness now in's time that is more important otherwise few years down the line now I can go into another envirment go into another industry uh so yes I I followed that Mantra somehow and I was lucky enough opportunity uh otherwise I have seen people who apply for jobs and they they still do not get calls or calls do not get converted so yes uh coming back to when I was in PWC I thought that this role is not you know something Tech I did some certifications as wellp so that I'm little relevant in the industry but what about the certification then right okay then I thought I should not just you know wait but that is something over and above MH then I looked out for the opportunties technical demand but then because that was like two years later when I was searching for jobs so I was looking out for jobs technical understanding but that was little niche uh then somehow I got a call from uh CPA Global which is now clarit and uh read all those Concepts uh then I went for the interview and it got uh I got the offer so yes that was you know I cannot thank that that is something I can never learn again that was very nich industry was very nich but which is you know going to be that was great it was [Music] like so I always thought of wearing the client's hat and in my deliverable when even if I am writing I preparing a doc I just I always thought let's wear the clients at first and see from their lens camera response is it like too wordy too ly is my articulation right uh so yes Consulting say okay then gner was something it was like my that was like my organization gner was that Organization for me not get it not get it so that was like four time almost oh great great so uh that is again a learning uh for for people who are watching it or listening to it if you'll see my applications gner portal these are 21 in number so that that is the number and four times fourth time was the one so obviously I value this role a lot uh and uh it's more like since I could get this role because I was coming from Consulting and I was having technical research background so this role is a mix of both okay so I am really thankful for my past jobs like I also got rejected from Gartner three times maybe the same number for me as well great just let me know when you want to you know get refered so ma'am like I have one question ma'am so as you know that on our Channel beyond the ranks we always call the people who are like drive by the success or by the growth who who are a real life Hustlers so there is always a debate between the hustle and the work life balance so any person can do both of these things like like any person could have the balance between the hustle and the work life or is it just a myth um having an equilibrium is something that is too ideal in my sense uh I don't know there are days when you have that equilibrium but there are days when it's really you know rushy uh be it any firm I'll not blame the firm here or the organization here it's more like because personal baggage let's say weekend P you have spent more time with your family so Monday is like something just you know the head space is more occupied by your personal things than professional things but then once you know uh getting to the middle of the week so you are more towards the office than you know personal things soal inclination uh so ma'am I don't know we should call it hustle or it's just another day we have made a conscious decision of getting into this organization or that role yeah like it's a basically hunger for a growth or being the comfortable with your life so it's a versus situation so uh so ma'am I think you know uh we are you know approaching the last uh to the last question uh so you know you can just quickly uh you know tell about your overall personal and monetary wise growth which you have achieved over the years so this is going to be uh a last question from our side okay um I would not be able to get into much details on the numbers but uh yes obviously first and the foremost benefit of switching the jobs is uh Financial growth and uh it's up to you how much you can you know raise the bar yeah um you can you know get it 4X 5x even 10x I have seen people you know achieving it uh so it's you have to be smart enough how relevant are you what kind of job role are you searching for if you are going to have uh let's say if I am going to you know switch into another similar role it's highly likely that I might not get much or I am switching into some role which is not a uh it's not a very big organization obviously there are times when you choose the role over the organization there are times when you choose the organization over the role uh so in my sense you should always you know strive for what you want from that role and uh Financial growth is something that will always follow uh obviously the the the you search for you search on Google job Ro usually average usually there's a big window organiz window someone can be at the lower end of it someone can be at the higher end of it but you should know your worth okay so it's it's that kind of thing okay uh thank you so much for you know for that response ma'am uh so I think that was all from our side from me and from my and such in side uh so ma'am it was overall a great learning experience for both of us and I personally believe viewers so you know they will definitely learn a lot from your experience about your Jour from your journey switch you know you have achieved such a great Heights plus I person the you know college grads s you know they are in a dilemma so it was overall and a great learning experience for uh for me and as well as for sain so thank you so much ma'am for you know being on our show so uh tell people just please be random be relevant and it's the only thing that you can you know doket achieve so yes all the best for everyone and please feel free to reach out yeah uh I'll you know uh
