going to St. Tropez today gonna check out some reeds okay, as soon as you get here we go... ok see you in a second so this is where it all begins I'm in the cane fields near St. Tropez in the South of France behind me are fields of cane this really really tall grass that's gonna be turned into saxophone reeds, clarinet reeds bassoon and oboe reeds and let me tell you, there's a lot of it ok so here is where they take the leaves off of the cane How many boxes of reeds will this make? A lot! inside that machine are little kernels of corn come let's take a look hello Alto Contra-bassoon, clarinet, clarinet clarinet, alto sax, large alto sax tenor, baritone, tenor We throw out a lot of reeds that work very well just because they are ugly? because visually they are ugly they're not that ugly because it's dark the next step making the flat part of the reed the table of the reed gets done somewhere else so now we're gonna go there alright so we've got our final product a finished reed here I've got a Rigotti Gold Jazz 4 medium and I'm gonna go test it out
