How Pro's Play Gekko On Sunset

everybody it's Thorin here and today I wanted to talk to you guys about geeko on Sunset so we've seen a lot of teams um mainly sen right I think geneng G is also the other one um that has been running this gecko comp uh on Sunset so I kind of wanted to talk about what I use for gecko on Sunset and all the things that I think are important the first thing is the most important one is this Mosh Pit so a lot of people in ranked go through this even though it should be the strategy sitting here is super like difficult right like just a raw fight from this position you can jigle elbow you can jigle Lane right so you can kind of basically just sit here and hide and force really awkward fights especially with like a judge right or a shorty um when they're on Save rounds so clearing that out is super important you just come here you tuck you aim basically right here and you jump through pretty simple lined up here and clear back slant as you can see the mosh pit lands boom clear back slant now for dizzies that you can throw here right so usually you're going to have an omen bind for this but let's say you just don't have an omen you can do this the reason why you would do this is mainly to stop these fights right it's kind of hard to get back did good you have to sort of put yourself in kind of an awkward position to get it back but what's it's really good for it like I said is pushing anyone off this angle as well as it comes in and Fires at anyone holding towards elbow another thing with elbow is you can throw your wingman there right to clear like this close angle as well as uh if you know that that angle is clear right you can also just clear it like this and then boom like that right kind of hard to clear these super TI angles men but it's pretty forgiving for those it usually will lock onto them sometimes it won't right the big thing is that it comes back right so they kind of have to shoot It or Break It things like that so another dizzy um that all of the pro teams are using is this it's pretty simple you just throw it over here the reason why is because it's super hard to hit and it basically gets you did good the big thing with it is it doesn't really get anyone slant but it gets anyone towards sight and anyone rotating towards the link as well so what that kind of does is it sort of stops them from fighting through this smoke right which is a big problem uh on this bomb site another dizzy you can throw if you're really just not worried about that or you just don't want to take elbow control is you just whip it over the top right it does very similar things but it's sort of a harder angle on that I think it's fun uh one thing that you need to know right on a most of the time you're hard holding B you're playing retake on a because you're playing retake on a you want to deny the plant so you can stall you just literally just run throw and boom it lands in the default plant spot uh and it just stops anyone from planning there uh gives your team more time to rotate for Mid uh you can throw the Dizzy up like this and it SC a decent amount of mid mly just down here and going towards market right but what you can do is you can throw from the opposite side as well which is what I prefer personally the reason why is because as you can see we go up here it sort of gets an eye on tiles right if they're facing tiles as well as it goes deep here and it gets closer uh towards market so obviously it doesn't clear this out right that's kind of the big problem with the gecko dizzy is that to clear those really tough angles you have to commit to throwing it in a very rough spot right but for the most part you can clear decently towards market now going over towards B um there is a Molly that I haven't perfected yet but I'm going to show you guys essentially the basic lineup for it and the reason why is because if you can land this Molly it's going to be super good right so you can't really play lineups with gecko all too often but let's say you're in like a super advantageous like post plant you don't throw it like that um but essentially you line up like this right you line up like this you run jump throw now like I said it's super hard to hit but the premise of it is it goes here and hits here all right so yeah super hard to hit Molly lineup but if you can get it you can work out how to do it effectively you know post it tag me in it um I would really like to uh be able to find that cuz I think it'd be really cool something that I was experimenting with now on the attack side pretty simple right it's kind of the same ex like premise throw straight up now if you want to cck closer towards this mid angle here right th smoke top mid um you can like basically what I do is just ping this box right so kind of in line with the churro and you just run jump throw reason why you want run jump throw is because you can go out here and you can't get spammed right sit on box can't get spammed grab it and then you can leave uh wingman is also really good for clearing Market kind of um it's kind of hard to find the lineup for it but I think it's like roughly here um you'll learn it like the more you do it yeah so it just clears this close space the big thing with wingman though is it's like the Roomba where it can it gets this guy and I'm pretty sure he can Su him right obviously I don't have anyone to test that so if anyone who has friends cuz I don't um to test that let me know but I'm fairly certain the same thing with the Roomba the Roomba will activate but not actually do anything but I'm pretty sure the wingman like will hit this guy up here so if not it'll at least activate so you'll know he's in that General vicinity um this is the Dizzy for retake pretty simple clears back site clear's close um if you want to deny the plant very simple come here you can just the midsite plant and then if you aim low throw it it bounces it stops the front side plant right another like super important um MH pit is that right it just clears out that box it's the hardest box cuz you can't pen it you might able P it with an Odin no you can't P it with an Odin so yeah like it's just super annoying right they can just sit here uh indefinitely so you just have to use youtil flush them out or you just run out them personally I have to use youtil it's a lot easier um yeah let's get started also hold on I'm going to test this because I'm kind of curious well um yeah so if anyone wants to make the challenge of finding a lineup That lands on that go ahead uh I'm not going to do it in this video but that's a little idea for you guys if you want to get nerdy with your gecko Tech so um that's honestly mainly it right like there's a lot of other things you can do like for example you can run through this right it SC close it scans deep and it's fairly Pi up it's by a stone wall right just worry about this um but for the most part that's really kind of how you want to play um gecko on this map right Sunset is pretty like simple um in its design and kind of how you throw things there's not a lot of insane lineups because of like the um claustrophobia be specifically like you mainly just want throw your dizzy like that right if you want to like deep clear back sight you have to run jump throw it from here and even then it barely hits back site it doesn't hit the side of sight right the main thing with um gecko on this map is being able to plant in very advantageous positions because just being able to get this plant um and fight back site to deny them from stopping this plant right or fighting Market just allows you to really do a lot of things right like the main thing with gecko here is like for example uh if you know that there's nobody back site with your dizzy you throw the wingman here and your teammates can run and come fight Market the reason why you do that is because they have to retake this position before they can tap because if they're split from a 90° angle it's extremely hard to actually get a multi frag right like if you have one person playing here one person playing mark it um on a site uh most of the time a lot like I said a lot of teams will play retake and it's because it is the easier site to retake um but even then it's not that easy right like personally I like to plant um the best plant spot I think in my opinion is usually right here and the reason why it's right here is because it it's that for that for that and for that right obviously for elbow it's a lot harder but the big thing is is a lot of people will think that holding it wide is the way to go and because they do that you can isolate pretty much free 1 V one here if it's a 2v one and sort of uh kind of like throw your molly on the bomb right you can throw your wingman your dizzy um and basically just dump youtil at the guy until you guarantee yourself a kill now one sort of little combo here that I want to show you which is important for gecko Tech I might have said it in my last video I might not have um is the dizzy and the wingman so essentially what this means is you throw your dizzy and then your wingman the reason why is because all right well that was a terrible wingman but you get that you get the idea right so you throw the Dizzy to either blind them or force them to shoot it because then you throw your wingman right so most of the time You' probably do it like this you throw like gzy wingman right so if they're for one sticking the bomb to half they're going to get full Blind by The Dizzy right and then the wingman is just going to and stun them and you can just get a free kill right he's blind and stunned now obviously uh one thing that you need to prioritize is picking your util up for the Post plant and using it in the correct situation um don't just throw it out to stall because gecko's utility is super annoying all of it is shooting and because all of it has to be shot right it can really disrupt Crosshair placement and be a just annoyance to people on retake and Grant you a extremely easy fights as well as extremely easy 1 V ones uh it's very hard to lose a One V one if you have full gecko youtil um I'm going to show you guys my pathing for gecko alt because I think that's important so the big thing here right is a lot of people think that you want to go elbow with thrash and yeah that is 100% something you can do but personally I prefer going a link the reason why I prefer going a link is because you can hop it around this corner right you just keep hopping right and you get all the way towards spawn the reason why I like doing that is because you can hop and strafe to here behind slant if you're getting shot at right um no one really knows this but like if you can no one really uses this uh like kind of idea but if you can get your um thrash into cover while it's getting shot and deny it getting broken it can just sit here and be a threat right you're you can also call for your teammates to throw youtil to Grant a better um like a more advantageous uh thrash um detain right so if I can get here with my alts call for a breach flash through the wall breach flash goes off and then I pop out the guy's just not going to be able to shoot me right especially because he's backpedaling to get off the site and to stop this as well if he's right here he's not going to get it he has to swing out like this which already if my teammates are scaling elbow the main thing is to sort of pins them right so your teammates scale up elbow because it's just a lot easier to break the thrash unless someone's following it obviously but it's a lot easier to break the thrash um here right because you can just come here and just and then boom run away uh then it is to break it through this because you're getting pinched from players right as well as this is like the spam location and a lot of your teammates are going to get just get spammed through a smoke or people will pop um pop out through a smoke right so instead of sending your teammates there you send your teammates elbow and you're thrash towards link because your thrash a can detain this guy if you didn't know so like if you look at like the detainment it can detain that guy you just jump here and then boom it detains him um so yeah it's just a lot better in my opinion uh you can't go over with it but personally I like going aink um now for retake uh it's kind of the same premise uh you can come here in this box you always I that up but you know what I'm talking about you always go behind here right um the main thing is to get the slank guy right and one thing that you can do with the thrash is you can actually detain through walls it's just a splash effect and also you can do that so you can basically jump and hit it behind here and it clears the entirety of Slants um another way to do it is again go through elbow but you just a lot of distance to cover you can't get spammed um on B personally this is my preferred way to Al it's the more dangerous way to Al but it's my favorite way to Al is you get on here the reason why you get on here is because you can insta jump off right it's kind of hard to pull it off but she's going again is ready hold on I'm going to what the okay well do it on this box either way it really doesn't work it's super hard to get I think you have to Doom as you can see it it can be kind of weird right so the thr automatically goes right I know this BX looks like a Noob but like I just want to show you guys like things that I think would be good and if it doesn't work so this doesn't work just strip it from here I swear to I SAR that you could just insta jump yeah it's just like so dick though okay so don't do that just go from here it's a lot more simple all right I want to show you guys the the smart things that I come up with and the stupid things that I come up with I think it's important um but yeah so it's kind of the main way to path is you kind of want to go to uh this uh this side the reason why is because it's a lot harder for these guys to shoot and spam it um if you go this way it's just a lot easier CU you're open to more angles as well as if you go here you're safe from this guy and you can go around the corner whoosh thr yourself with that guy entain them right again I already show do the dizzy so yeah for the most part that's pretty much how you play Gecko on this map if you guys have any other tips any lineups things like that I didn't include a lot of Mosh Pit lineups and the reason why is because I don't think there really is a lot of mosh Mosh Pit lineups yet gecko is kind of new I've been around with the tech like I made this one but there's definitely more Tech that I have missed so if you guys have it add me in it
