so commercial diving's always been known as a high-risk high-reward industry but how much do you actually earn in this video I'm going to break down the different pay rates as per your tickets and give you an example of how you could be earning over one hundred and sixty five thousand dollars USD annually just quickly I need to make a mention that these rates are based on my own personal experiences working throughout New Zealand Australia the Middle East Asia and India as an expert diver each divers experience will be different in terms of rates depending on which country they're working in which company they're working for in which career path they decide to take so take it with a grain of salt I also need to make a mention that these rates are international but they don't cover Union rates in the UK or Australia and they don't represent the pace system in the United States first up you finished school you start looking for a job walking you expect in terms of the pay rate and sure well ensure locally you might find that you're on an hourly rate if you're close to home and that can be anywhere between $20 and $35 an hour if you're away from home and you have to fly to a job somewhere in the country that you're living in then you might actually get put on a day rate you can expect that you might be put on 250 to 350 dollars depending on the company that you're working for in the grand scheme of things it's not a lot of comparison to what you could be making later on but this is sort of a development period of where you building industry experience you're gaining experience to help you develop your career now before you get offshore I would recommend that you look at doing three to five years in this area getting paid these rates before you start working offshore because you really need to have a solid foundation underneath you before you get to play in the big leagues the other thing about the commercial diving industry as a whole not just unsure but it is applicable ensures that the industry is very volatile so you can't expect that you're gonna be working five days a week every week for the rest of the year or for the entire year these updates is down days as times where companies put you on standby there's times where there's absolutely no work at all so you can probably expect to be working between 180 and 200 days a year let's make a little average out of it if you're making two hundred and eighty dollars a day and you're working at 180 days a year then you're probably going to be earning around the sum of fifty thousand four hundred take that as an average but the range can be anywhere between 45 and sixty three thousand and your local currency but it doesn't really represent the investment that you've made to get the ticket and the risk that you're taking to do the work subsea all right so you've got the industry experience unsure and you've started working offshore what can you expect well what you can expect is that you are working for experience at the start of your career or sure you really need experience to get a job and if you don't have experience it's very hard to get a job so that's probably more valuable than any sort of money but in terms of money what I can tell you is you'll now probably be paid in USD US dollars there a common currency to be paid throughout the world internationally for offshore air diving ear rates can be varying depending on which company you're working for in which country you're in but I would expect that you'd probably be looking at between 250 u.s. and 450 US a day before an ear diver now as an offshore work I usually aim to try and do six months a year that's six months offshore and six months at home some people like to do more some people like to do less it really depends on your commitments at home whether you have a lifestyle you work to live or live to work it's really up to the individual diver but we'll call it 180 days or six months just for an average you can expect that there's a common traits throughout the industry and most companies that you work for air diving offshore that you have to do a minimum amount of time offshore before you can go home so a lot of the companies that I've previously worked with where two-month minimums so I will do three trips a year that'll give me my six months in two months bloss now if we consider that the average pay rate would be three hundred and fifty dollars a day then time set by 180 days in a year and that gives you 63 thousand USD it's not bad for six months work again these rates are an average but they can range between 45 and 81 thousand USD now the next step in your career is the step that is going to earn you a lot of money but a lot of divers don't really make it past air diving and the reason is you have to assess your ability to be in claustrophobic spaces you have to understand and know what environments you're going to be working in and how you're going to be living in saturation so if you don't know about set diving I'll link a short video up here or up here somewhere that will give you a bit of a basic explanation if you want to watch that feel free to click on the link and saturation your swing lengths are a little bit different from when you were here diving and the fact that you still want to aim to do six months a year as an average but you're doing in six week blocks the day rates you can expect and set are always gonna be a little bit more than what you were making when you're air diving so you could be looking at anywhere between four hundred views a day and seven hundred us a day and upwards if you're in the unions what set diving does have their ear diving doesn't is a burn rate where I burn bonus so your set bonus is between seventeen dollars an hour and twenty eight dollars an hour depending on the company or country that you're working in let me give you an example you may go on a job and be offered a dick rate of five hundred us a day time set by the forty five days or the six weeks that you are working plus a few days either side for travel this gives you twenty four thousand five hundred dollars USD now here's where the set bonus comes in let's take a higher average of twenty five dollars in our time set by twenty four hours a day it's gonna give you an extra six hundred dollars a day on top of your deck rate now times that by twenty eight days that's sixteen thousand eight hundred USD now the grand total for your six-week trip including your travel days is forty-one thousand three hundred dollars sticking with a six-month average work time you can hope to be doing four of these swings a year that takes you to a grand total of one hundred and sixty-five thousand two hundred USD this is just a hypothetical average but the range could be anywhere between one hundred and twenty-seven thousand to two hundred and thirteen thousand USD for six months work depending on the country or camp that you're working for with all the money and all the travel I need to shed some light on this Golden Nugget the pay represents in here at risk of the job plus the training and experience that you've needed any financial investment that you've made to get this far in your career you also have to understand you're a freelance contractor and then there's no such thing as guaranteed work you were continuously chasing you also have to pay your taxes you do not get any benefits and you're continuously training and recertifying yourself which is a huge financial investment if you decide to go down the road of beer commercial divert it can be a lucrative career but you've got to be persistent and committed to getting the experience and doing the time in the industry before you end up making this big money I've made another video about foundations that you need to be successful in this career so if you want to check that out click the link up here I've found this information helpful please feel free to give it a thumbs up that it'd be much appreciated and if you want to see more information about the commercial diving industry i'm going to be releasing videos every other
