How I use Side-Imaging to Scan Banks for Crappie!

hey folks I got a good one for you today I found the crappie we got them to bite they're active I'm gonna take you along with me is show you exactly what I do with side scan how I go along the banks here looking for these fish so I can find them and then I'll take you back by and show you how I usually miss them or how I was missing them until I figured out how to be able to pick these up in that water column what these fish stand out okay water temperature 64.2 degrees I'm on Lake kiwi this afternoon had a lot of rains muddied up the water a good bit I'm scanning the bank how I do it so I've got them passing on the left hand side over here is the bank and so what you see here I've got left view only looking at the water column and I'm just running this bank trying to get fish in here instead of over here because you got this hard return right here so it's going to be hard to pick fish up so that's what that's what I'm doing I'm showing you exactly what I do when I'm trying to pick them up so here they are I've got a tree that's laid down and you can see individual dots within that tree so they are almost like the tip of it's kind of underneath me but the fish really started about 10 feet and then you can see how I've I've got these fish that are out in this water column they're pretty easy to see and then you can see the shadow back over here on the bank so what I'll do is I'll make another pass I've marked it I've got it on my Lowrance hds7 got my graphing over here on it and I'll pass by the same school just a little further out and I'll show you the difference in making a pass on that where you get them in the water column versus getting a pass on it over the lake Bottom this is what I do is is I'm just going along scanning the bank and then as I come up on the brush pile I'm looking to see now those are like a few fish that are in that blow down there as well so you can see the shadow back over here but they're harder to see like you can see bright returns one two three four five six seven and then there's some mixed in here so um but there was a there was a bigger School out on that other one that I marked so maybe we'll come back and hit that one in a minute that's actually a sunken dock that you see right here that that's the fish you can see how much harder it is to see it almost just looks like a smear at this point I'm out the 80 feet now I passed them that same range was at 60 feet but that's what happens when you get over the lake bottom and that's why they're so much easier to see when there over the water column when I can get close enough to them to pick them out okay so uh you want to spin around I'm gonna drop down active Target let's see if I can catch a few all right there's the brush pile and the fish inside the brush pile we're gonna see if we can pull a couple out of here so let's do it there we go fishing finally pulled one out of there put it right over top of them and you got it [Music] so that's what we're after and that's how we do it I'm in it I'm gonna pop that through I'm gonna go slow right there we go and I saw them come up and grab it again right there we go that's uh that's number two just like that that's how I do it that's that side skin without side skin and been able to pick those fish up in that black and that water column that's not just directly under the boat and these fish like this right here I missed them I used to miss them all the time not anymore I know how to find them oh yeah whoo he smoked it [Applause] I mean smoked it when I said I need to get out there 45 50 feet that was good gotta love it I tell you what he hit a lot bigger than his size not shabby at all but I'm encrusted there wasn't no wondering wasn't no subtle bite to that one that one said I'll take that thank you very much got another one on I think it's a smaller yeah that's a little one but it's uh it's fish the sides can picked it up got him got him out of time there we go there we go that's more like it folks the sun's going down I want to make this video short and sweet the side scan with some crappy side camera crappie side camera SAC Relay this is uh this is how you do it if this video helped you out do me a favor do me a favor hit that thumbs up and then also like And subscribe God bless have a good one and we'll catch you on the water
