in this video i'm going to show you how i managed to stay bone dry even if i'm caught in the shower [Music] oh hi i didn't see you there so my basic philosophy when it comes to rain gear is that it is okay to be wet and it is okay to be cold but it's not okay to be wet and cold at the same time which is why i don't really worry about rain jacket in the summer in the summer i get changed for cycling to work anyway because it's just too hot to ride in my work clothes and i just i enjoy a summer ride in the rain now riding at this time of the year in the fall or in the winter is completely different because the temperature drops so i need to be protected against rain because i'm not okay with being wet and cold at the same time so depending on how heavy the rain is and how cold temperature is i use one of two different methods the first one is a cycling rain jacket which is just a simple rain jacket that i put on and it's nice it's waterproof and it's hi-viz it has the reflective details all over it i put it on and this protects me against rain as long as it's not bucketing down so light rain is perfect it has spoons venting zips so i can open the zip and i get some ventilation when it's not raining it also keeps me warm so sometimes i even use it on days that it's not raining that the forecast is not for rain so it's really nice it has a hood which i really never use but it's there if i wanted to and it has this nice mesh inner lining but it sort of wicks the sweat away on warmer days and that i start to sweat so between that and the ventilation it's really nice it's really comfortable there's only one thing i don't like about cycling jackets for commuting and that's the lack of pockets so i don't have pockets here i have the pocket here at the back which is a bit awkward to get to and sometimes i ride with a backpack especially in winter time i ride with a backpack it's a pocket i can't use i can't put my cell phone there my second method is this rain poncho yeah it does look awkward but it's all contained in this pocket you turn it inside out and there is my rain poncho this is my rain gear nice hi-vis which is very welcome you've got reflective details all over it you've got mounts for your lights if you want to use that but my my bicycle is full of lights anyway so i don't really use that really easy to put on and it gives me full protection it's really good because it's fully waterproof i close the velcro and my face is sort of sealed yet i still have side visibility because it has this transparent sides so i can turn around and i can see uh traffic coming from behind me i can turn around it has really nice protection here for the hands because not only does it go over my my hand but it also has this rubber and cuff so it prevents water from entering in the arms so it's really nice and it has a few more trick up its sleeve first this is the pocket that contains itself so it's really nice because i can keep items in there i can keep my cell phone i can keep my keys or whatever i want to keep there and it's completely waterproof and it also has this rubber elastic band that goes around my thighs so now i can cycle and even if there is strong winds it's going to stay stay there it protects me all the way down to my knees which is really nice i look like a beekeeper and that's what my family calls me look are you going in your beekeeper's dress yes i am so this is it now i found this rain poncho a few years ago in decathlon and it was around 30 20 30 euro ish but it was worth every penny because i use it all the time now when the rain is really heavy and it's bucketing down i also use cycling trousers waterproof cycling trousers and these ones are also from the kathleen and i love them for a few reasons but first of all they're really easy to put on even with with the shoes on so they have the zipper here [Applause] at the side so it opens up and it allows me to get in with my shoes on which is great it has a nice elastic waist so it's really easy to secure so i can put on the overshoe which is another added bonus and i'm ready to go so overshoes a great addition because i don't need to worry about my shoes getting wet so once it's on close the zipper put on the other one over shoes kept in place with an elastic and i with this and the poncho i am fully protected from the rain now the only thing i don't really uh like about it and sometimes it does happen but it hasn't happened in a while is that this one at the back the back part sometimes just moves up a little bit and some water can get in this year i've had two really rainy days and it wasn't an issue now here is another trick up its sleeve this one has two zippers and the zippers allow me to get to my pockets to the pockets of the trousers which is really nice so you can keep your keys your phone your whatever you want to keep there and you can actually get access to it and in case you don't have a pocket then it also has this pocket at the back which can be used for to keep stuff and that also doubles as its own container something else i need to make sure is that i keep my laptop and my gear dry for which i use waterproof backpacks or panniers i'm going to show you a few of them in one of the future videos and that's basically it you need to be visible you need to take your time and you always check the forecast if you find this kind of content helpful and useful then give this video a thumbs up and i hope to see you in the next video take care bye
