welcome to another video guys and today we're going to talk about how you can get that perfect looking 30 on your toefl writing section now if you've taken the gre or the gmat let's just get one thing out of the way that this toy full section is way different from those those sections because those were considerably harder and required you know a completely different different approach altogether however the toefl exam is not relatively that advanced you you must know that even bachelors who are willing to you know even uh sorry people who have graduated from school are you know finished with their 12th class are taking this exam just so they can basically you know go abroad for their masters for their bachelor's so it's not really that big of an issue like you shouldn't really you know prepare for it so much like i personally probably even uh wrote only two or three essays you know two or three of these tasks like task one and task two and basically uh what i was able to get from that was this perfect looking 30 right over here right so let's try to this video is about the writing section i'm going to make a video each about you know each of those sections up there reading listening speaking writing i've already made a video on speaking and you know a complete video altogether where i discuss the materials so if you're if you haven't checked them out i'm gonna be you know putting their links at the end of this video all right let's talk about the writing section now so some of the things that you should know about the writing section is the first question is always where basically you will read a passage and after reading that passage you are going to hear about a lecture and then basically the lecture is going to be about whatever the passage was about basically but the the professor is going to oppose everything the author has stated in the passage point by point so essentially they're going to be three points in the passage you're going to read and uh the i think i think they give you three minutes for it if i remember right and after that you you have to like you know listen to all of those points that the professor tells you about right so basically that's going to be like a two three minute audio audio clip where you're going to hear the professor reject all of the points given out by the author so what you should be doing within these two or three minutes is listening more and writing less because you know i i know you have to take take down notes and i'm probably sure that you know about it too but don't do don't do it to them to that excessive degree that you're just taking notes and you're not able to understand what the professor is saying because what he's saying is going is not really going to be repeated to you right so just try to get the brief intuition of it and you know that's that should get you going also when you see the passage at the first go try to write down at least you know only one point one point from every paragraph they're going to be three points in total you know there might be four paragraphs one is introductory there is three are basically points to support the discretion just write down one single point and corresponding to that you know you can on the right side of that basically of that point you can write what the professor says to reject this point all right now don't write down a lot of it try to remember more and write less okay that's my first appeal so remember more or basically listen more early listen more and write less because if you get caught up in writing you're not going to be able to score the marks that you would otherwise because the passage is right next to you when when your writing section begins after the uh listening listening part but the listening part would never really come back again you know so that's one thing next is basically let's let's talk about word limits all right i know a lot of you asked me about how many words should we ideally write in an in an you know toy phil in a toy field essay so well there's two of these essays so when the that's about task one you get 20 minutes you have 20 minutes so within these 20 minutes you have to basically summarize all of the points made by the reading comprehension and uh made by the passage and by the uh lecturer how we really oppose these points right so if you want to know more about how to kind of go about this if you're doing this for the first time go and watch the note 4 video they'll give you some nice templates but what i personally did was like you know this was my word count uh it was about 350 words you know it's 20 minutes 350 words is more than enough every paragraph should have about you know 100 words like make four paragraphs for the task one right uh let's say four paragraphs right the first is your introduction and the second is your you know point one basically you know how the task uh or basically how the reading part gave you the first point and how the uh how the lecturer repudiated it the second third paragraph should be your point two and simultaneously your similarly your point three comes in the fourth paragraph right so this is basically all you have to do you don't need to write a conclusion in this section do not write it please you're wasting your time all right i didn't write it personally and i still was able to score that good looking 30 over there so take my word for it you don't need to write anything about it if you want to know the kind of task that appeared on my toefl i've made another video where i actually you know tell you the exact task that appeared on my toefl you can you can go and check that out too i'll put the link in the uh description or i'll basically you know put put the put it in the end of the video you will be able to just click on it and go through it it's basically about my gre test day and i kind of detail the questions over there right next is basically your second reading task second writing task and you get like 30 minutes on this one but you have to present your personal opinion right and what you should do over here is like about the word limit you should stick to about 450 to 500 words right don't try to exceed it because you're just going to you know make a mess probably if you don't have some good points and try to write down about you know uh five paragraphs on this one the first is going to be your introduction where you basically tell which theme you're taking or what you're doing exactly that all right your thesis part basically then what you have is your um first point okay then your second point you know these are basically the reasons each paragraph should detail at least one reason right and then you can this is optional now all right you can have four paragraphs or five paragraphs if you can try to include the third point if if you have more points right and finally your conclusion now here the conclusion is important as you might suggest you know uh computer uh conclusion is important because this is your personal opinion so write it like a standard essay that's what you've got to do so that was just a quick review let's talk about some of the more advanced issues that you you might not you know hear in other videos like these kind of issues where basically you know i'm pretty sure you've heard of them right so i still detail them for some people who might not know about it but that's that's that's the basic part of it right so some of the advanced issues are basically this is the toefl test and you do not need to use the advanced words like from the gre or gmat so do not try to use or basically unnecessarily uh whatever the spelling is you know just bear with me uh unnecessarily put in jargon if there are some words that you know are very pertinent to the situation and you know their usage please go ahead and use them but if you're not sure about the usage of a word strictly abstain from using it because the only thing that's going to do is if you if you kind of you know use it in the wrong sense it's going to be counted against you and even though you could have just you know use a simpler word and which you know how you can use you know like that kind of a simple simpler word it's going to get you the marks anyway because you're still able to communicate playful is all about communicating your point to the other person and not about you know showing how advanced your level of vocabulary is so if you can you know put something in a simpler language do it however if you know that you know some word is very very pertinent to the situation go ahead and add it that will definitely benefit you that's only about the part that you know you don't have to use a very complex vocabulary in all the passages like like you should on the gre that's completely fine over here all right again if you do that that's good for you but my advice is don't you know stick to it so much that you're kind of compromising the actual passage or your point right all right the next point is this is the actually this is actually a very good point no one really talks about this but advanced punctuation so a lot of people are used by the way uh whenever i text you know some people are like uh hey what is uh whatever whatever they want to write right so basically the thing is that look at this this gap isn't going to be there it's not supposed to be there if you read books articles news whatever you know newspapers you should know that this gap doesn't exist right similarly try to use this this is the semicolon you need to know how to use it i use this i used it extensively on my essay by the way just saying on my actual gr on my actual uh toy fill essay i used it all right you should also know the uses of this this is a colon how you should use this exactly that i bought that part i leave it up to you you should go on google and really check out the usage perfectly but you know i use these two extensively and even the comma you know and basically you know whenever you are using the semicolon it's going to be the same you know uh after your lens line ends basically so let's say the board ends and then you put a semicolon and then a space not before that this space is not supposed to be here same with the colon right the space is for two reasons let's say and we're we're going to detail this this space is not supposed to be there this is not cool this is not this doesn't exist let's say all right and then you put a space here and then you begin with it right so that's my main point try to use this advanced punctuation try to show them that yeah you can really cope up with this and you know about this these things you know how to exactly you know incorporate them into your essays and the grader will be you know uh happy with you and probably give you a better score because he thinks that you understand the complex mechanisms of these punctuation so try to really you know see how to how to use these and try to incorporate them in your essay trust me they will do you wonders okay and well i think that's about it yeah we try to stick to you know proper language again i'm emphasizing on this because you know try to not use your jargon a lot of it okay so that's about it for this video like really this second point should help you the most i think and uh even the first one these are just the you know basic points some of you might know about these some of you might not so just stick with these and also kind of you know try to practice it like at least three or four times because the thing is that when you're on the actual desk and you haven't practiced it you might run out of time you you need to kind of you know type fast there and to reach this potential world limit you need to be able to you know pick up the pace so if you're not able to do that like i was able to do that that's why i didn't really practice more more than three or four times you know but still at least practice each task three times before you go for the test and then you might be able to score this you know 30 over here all right i'm gonna make another video for the listening section for the reading section but this is about it for the writing section it's a pretty basic section you don't need to worry about it a lot it's not like the gre or gmat at all it's very basic and if you are you know just taking care of your language your tenses and everything keeping everything uh perfect apart from the tips i gave you like don't don't use wrong punctuation don't use wrong tenses and all these things you know that's that's going to be help of great help to you and i'm sure you will you'll be able to score a 30 with this right now you can do this just go on practice two or three tasks and comment if this helped you okay thanks and i'm gonna be seeing you in the next video consider subscribing and give me a thumbs up if this if this video helped you
