this is just a little quick video to explain how I make out my skills when I actually take the whole antler and I look for sections that I can I can bring to a rolling boil for 20 minutes and straighten them out and I'll mark out those sections and that'll give me nice knife handle there bring it out a little this way a little bit that way I'll cut this time off here just tip off here I'll use this piece here and as you can see there's not a real heavy bowing all in it if you'll bring it to a rolling boil for 20 minutes then sit it in between two pieces of leather or material that's not all marked up and then place it in in a vise and slowly crank down on the vise while it's still you know fresh out of that boiling water you'll actually get it to move and straighten up now if you start hearing any crack whatsoever stop let it sit overnight let's say this one I'll use this section here or a crown handle right here and I'll use this section here I'll heat it up pull it out and make another skills and all out of it that'll have a bit more texture this one will be a smoother more like bone so I can actually get a minimal three sets of scales out there now I've Bowl them lock them down get them straightened up I'll take a scroll saw and split them then I'll actually take them and run them on a wide belt sander to flatten out that area to get it nice and smooth so I can get good contact on the tangs of the knives and stuff without a lot of gaps and stuff like that I mean yeah is it that's the whole purpose you wanted to try to eliminate gaps and things to get your fit and all as tight as possible just like this knife I will actually take and do the same way on Center to smooth it out this is a little spear point that you'll see in a in another video being forged out I'm actually in the process of laying out the black walnut skills for the farrier roust knife which I'll be actually shooting that shortly I'm going to do decided that I'll do a brass bolster and a brass but as with us is a nice black walnut in the center see there's nice discoloration between the two and the tang and the tang will actually profile this way I'm gonna leave this in the top of the handles what I'll do is I'll clamp them together take them out there sand them down to where they match up and everything clip them to the knife drill the pinholes in all then I'll lay out the brass pieces and things like that I'll probably show a little bit later on some finish well these finished after up gums straightened out and cut made in the skills I've shown before I start sanding them down after before I get them onto a handle but that is how I do my antler skills the would I pick sections of wooden stuff whether strong valve blocks this size or larger and all I'll look for the grains that I won't I want the grain oriented like this one this would be the grain that I wanted to see on the skills not not this you know though that's not a bad grain there I really think this is would make much prettier handle and then I'll actually cut cut it in pieces not quite about 5/16 or so they may be a little bit thicker and that way I can shape them the handles it's the same way that I did these and I'm still in the process of smoothing this is these handles out getting a nice finished on them and then I will uh I'll hit them with some tunnel same way with some you some of the others that I'm working on but there you go short little video to explain how I make my antlers skills and things like that much like I did this one this is a stack hole but it's a full tang knife and as you can see I did a little bit of fire work on that one and it's edging in the blade but this had more of a curve than that when I first started working with it and kind of like the little piece of thing tying left on fits good in my hand and I was originally planning on this being my knife but I don't know I've got it listed for sale and if somebody's interested in it I'm told a nice sheath and I'll to go along with it probably the same thing a little mountain scenery with a deer alright y'all have a blessed one and I'll talk to you later on five
